Batman Begins [Spoilers Page 3]

My ass smells like your mom
i didnt see the movie but one of my mate was saying that it wasnt quite good as expected, it is more like too much of story than the action, but thats necessary because it is the first part. still i am going to see that movie. i think next part is going to be a good one, because all the of basic explanation is done in The Begins.

I was about to see this movie but once I saw the crap logo and batmobile, I changed my mind. Glad that I didn't watched it though, it would have confused me a lot.

I think 47 mill is a good first weekend opening, the theatre business has been at record lows in the first half of the year. I think it was bad luck for Batman, if it opened in around July 4 it would have fared much better IMO. And you gotta put it in perspective too, the other Batman films were not blockbusters and the latter two were pure crap so maybe fans were reluctant. This was the best showing for all Batman films so that should be some good news. Also opening on Wednesday took more of the 'fan boy' money from the weekend box office. In total since opening Wednesday Batman Begins hauled in $71.1 million, which was within expectations for a 5 day opening.

i agree. Bad luck. I mean this movie has become Super Popular on the net and between critics. (and people too). But I think people were reluctant to see it on the first weekend.

I've been speaking to many students around that have told me they plan to see it for sure this weekend because of all the good reviews it's been getting.
(Plus my entire family too was waiting to catch it 2nd weekend)
We might see a huge rise in the next few weeks.

On a side note: Titanic barely grossed anything as it was first expected on the first weekend I remember. And look what happened to that after all the 5 star reviews. (Not saying anything........just throwing it out) :)

Batman 2 vs. the Joker would be SO Huge. People absolutely love Batman vs. the Joker. Hope they make it.......and if the don't it would be probably the biggest catastrophy to not make a sequel out of a film that actually deserves it (ie: 2 fast 2 furious? Give me a break.)

Yeah those Logos can be really confusing and can ruin a whole movie for people.

I'm not sure I would want another batman movie versus the Joker. It was awsome with Keaton and Nicholson, but I can't see anyone taking Carlos's place as the Joker. I would rather want some other villain to be portrait in the next one. Batman surely has met quite a few in his time so it wouldn't be a problem finding a new villain.

not sure i follow the logic here.i thoguht that the movie was good, i dont think that just a logo and a batmobile should change your decision that much

I personally thought that the tank car thing that Batman had was way better than the batmobile; ive never liked the batmobile, always thought it looked corny.

yeah. The batmobile in Batman Forever was "cool" looking....but it was pretty weak after all the hype.

also the Batman and Robin car was horrible (the 1 seat car)

I really hope that Mark Hamill can play the Joker. He has his voice down and if he can act like the Joker then he would be the best Joker ever.

It's too bad that due to what happened in the film that we probably won't see a story like The Long Halloween in the future Batman films. That could've really showcased his detective work and it was set around the beginning of the Batman years which would've been perfect.

I really have some high expectations for the next movie. IMO this one was so well done, part of the reason I say that is because the past movies were 100% **** and I honestly expected this one to be about 95% ****. I love the way they did the villians in this one, not too over the top.

*SPOILERS*

We share the same taste in a lot of movies, but Hakeem I thought this movie was great. I thought Bale did a great job, but he did drop the ball in one scene when he was trying to get answers from that dirty cop (playing the EXACT same character he did in 2 Fast 2 Furious, right down to hair and wardrobe). Kind of overacting by Bale, but overall i thought he did an excellent job playing a young batman. I thought everybody in the cast did an excellent job, with Cillian Murphy standing out as scarecrow. I swear I saw his head get cut off on the horse though, being a sort of joke with a headless 'Crane' leaving on a horse.

My only complaint was that the opening part with Bruce Wayne in Asia stretched a bit too long, and kinda slowed down the overall pacing.

Having Batman pretty much able to fly/glide was a great touch as Batman doesnt really have that much going for him compared to other 'superheroes'.

That whole Katie Holmes-Tom Cruse PR stunt currently going on ruined her part in this movie.

did anybody else find the scene with bruce wayne arriving at hotel with 2 'hos' very odd?

I always thought it was joker that killed bruce waynes parents. I wonder who will play joker in the next movie :brow:

I think the box office 'disappointment' had a lot to do with parents not allowing their younger kids to see the movie, as this movie was very dark and graphic. A 9 year old boy would definately be scared sh*tless in those scarecrow hallucination scenes.

Of all the 'comic book' movies out there, I gotta say this is my favourite. Id have to see it again though.d

just saw it lastnight and i was thoroughly pleased. heard alot of hype going in and wasn't disappointed.

spoiler reference

i really liked how they tied in the joker reference at the end. bale imo did a fantastic job as bruce wayne.

there was one noticeable difference between this movie and others...how bruces parents died. but i got around that, as i like how this one played out.

the only real problem i had with the filming was with some of the fight scenes. they were so close and extremely fast so it was kinda hard to follow sometimes

go see it

1. I had some issues with Nolan's filming. As modena_10 said some scenes and not just the action ones were just too damn fast. I noticed even some jokes went out of pace due to this problem. Maybe a bit lack of experience of Nolan with this kind of movies.

2. I hate Katie Holmes... why couldn't they get a real woman instead? I mean if Nicole Kidman was in Batman 3 and that film sucked why couldn't they get a more talented actress. Katie Holmes as a state prosecutioner? Come on... what's next, Paris Hilton as a rocket scientist?

Not as bad as when Denise Richards played a chemical engineer in 'The World Is Not Enough'.

I didnt think there was anything wrong with Holmes acting, just the Tom Cruise part ruined it. Sure, they couldve gotten a better actress, but they couldve done a lot worse.

I think the 'fast/close-up' fighting was supposed to show how Batman could be invisible and such, a throwback to the training he had with Ducard in Asia.

Hakeem, I'd recommend you watch Equillibrium. I wouldnt say its a ripoff of the Matrix, but it definately borrows some ideas from the book 'A Brave New World' if youve read that. But come on, any movie with 006 involved is worth seeing.

It borrows from the Matrix as much as The Matrix borrows from Anime movies like Ghost in the Shell

My rating:

7/10 - "Only fans should see it, the rest, run for your lives! "

****SPOILERS*****

I have pretty much the same thoughts as everyone else here. The rating only jumped one point up, because of Bale, nothing else.

The fight scenes, were badly butchered, choreography? where was it? who knows. Katie Holmes?, mediocre perfomance.
If it hadn't been for Bale (yet again) saving some scenes between them, I would had walked out.

Beginning of the movie?, bad. Everything ran so fast, so out of place, i'm sure this was not the directors fault, just plain old hollywood influence at its best. "The director" did manage to make up for it though, up until the part where the city runs crazy. That was it, I could would had thrown my pop-corn at the screen (but it was the only thing keeping me from screaming something out).

The end?, came nothing shorth of being cr*p, "Oh how great, so i sat through all this, just to know that the real-thing comes out sometime next year!"

I swear, I almost killed some people that were behind me, that applauded at the credits. :nape:

I gave it a 9/10. Batman was in need of a rejuvination and reinvention. The turnover for the role of Batman in the previous films was a sign that the franchise just wasn't working and the films were sucking. This was the perfect way to reinvent the franchise, the follow up films better not dissappoint...
