How is Wembley not finished yet? Wasn't it supposed to open 2 years ago? But anyway I wouldn't mind if England or Australia host the World Cup.

Also to host a proper world cup there may be need 12 stadiums, not just 5, would Australia get them ready for 2018?

I still think they'd rather give it to England.

nah dont have the final in melbourne, even tho its a masive stadium it is absolutely crap for soccer, no one in the stadium is close enough to the game to really be in it, its too far away from the action fromm my opinion, you need to have the crowd alot closer for such a big game like that

you have a point, but i would assume it is a numbers game and i bet if the cup was hosted here, MCG would be the final.

plus as earlier mentioned we have 9 or 10 stadiums that are suitable under FIFA rules. Yes most are ovals but they still comply.

That's where upgrading/building stadiums like virtually every host country of every football tournament does comes into the equation :jambo:

There are a whole heap of 15/20/30 thousand stadiums that could be converted, it shouldn't be a problem.

very true. And Australia has them, just needs to upgrade a few of them.

It'll never happen - the stadiums won't be built, and the TV audience in Europe is far too lucrative.
The TV audience in 12 years time in Asia will be worth more.

If we could sell out synchronised swimming at the Paralympic games, the World Cup should be no problem :|

You have got to be kidding?

Anywayz its sorta early to be caring so much about 2018. That's 12 damn years away. 2 worldcups in between.

And yet being a footie fan I'm also interested. I think Australia should get a bid, but damn it I want it in Canada 2022. I have absolutely no reason to wish such a thing on the world. None at all.

BTW whats the time difference beteween the US and Australia? If it means more 2 AM-4 AM-6 AM games US EST time then screw their bid. Give it to England. It maybe 12 years from now but I already don't feel like pulling another sleepless summer.

Holy sh!t I might be married by then. With kids. :nape:

What about 2010 huh? Still in the prime years of life in college LOL. :rockman:

Personaly I would love it for it to be in Australia. They have stadiums, climate, fans and like ALOT (90%) of the world hasnt ever been in Australia, so it would be a very new and exciting World Cup.

Plus Sidney has the biggest Uruguayan community in the world, (As seen by the rugby world cup when Uruguay's lowest attendance was the 17,000 that packed the stadium for Uruguay/South Africa <an actual rugby nation>)

from http://www.scrum.com/rugbyworldcup/rugby_world_cup_diary_4.asp

"Plus Sidney has the biggest Uruguayan community in the world, (As seen by the rugby world cupSouth Africa and Uruguay were first to take their bow, and despite the reported 60,000 or so ex pat-Boks living in the city it was Uruguay who appeared to command the biggest following. A crowd of around 17,000 came to watch in the 43,000 capacity Oval but World Cup fever was evident. It appeared that every non-South African was supporting the brave South Americans that night with chants of 'Uruguay, Uruguay' constantly ringing out, drowning out the Bok fans, and amusing the Uruguayan replacements who acknowledged the surprising call.
"
 (Aussies cheering for us...you read it here :D lol <jks, I know S. Africa is their rival)

And that was the lowest attendance (for rugby too). For football it would be a dream for me (easily an incredible amount showing up), filling up 80,000 by itself would be like "automatic".

that's why that would rule beyond belief, plus Australia has what it takes to host it.

Unfortunately the whole "anti football" slogan seems to still be intact over there <Plus I know about Aussie Rules and the Rugby not wanting to give up their place for summer, it's nothing personal...........but for them it's just business> (Football is a competitor and the World Cup would be a HUGE boost)
(Tell you the truth, I feel for you as it's similar here in Canada, though now less than ever as there are more and more fans with the new coming generations)

, ...on second thought , they might want to reconsider after what I just wrote :p lol

but seriously, The WC there would be great (Y)

I'm betting on England.

- Easiest of the potential nations to travel to, for supporters of most teams
- It will have been over 50 years since they last hosted
- Quality of leagues, clubs, players
- Tradition of world class football
- Lots of revenue potential. Lots.

I'm doubting Australia in 2018 because Europe is where the money is. FIFA will never go more than twelve years between hosting World Cups there.

Regarding other European countries interested in hosting, Holland/Belgium hosted too recently and FIFA is avoiding joint bids, and Spain may have hosted too recently as well. Turkey would be an interesting choice, but far more adventurous than selecting England.

England's the obvious selection for '18.

2022 seems pretty likely for Australia, Canada, or Mexico, though.

yeah it's usually like this how it works : 1 year Europe, 1 year outside <this will be the first time <2010, 2014> that it wont happen

1930- S. America
1934- Europe
1938- Europe
1950- S. America
1954- Europe
1958- Europe
1962- S. America
1966- Europe
1970- N. America
1974- Europe
1978- S. America
1982- Europe
1986- N. America
1990- Europe
1994- N. America
1998- Europe
2002- ASIA
2006- Europe

Most Likely future

2010- AFRICA (confirmed obviously)
2014- S. America (for now, but itll be outside of europe)
2018- Europe (no way theyll lose 3 WCs in a row to other continents)
2022- (Outside)- <Wont be S. America.......be between N. America/ Australia or Asia <most likely Aussies>>
2026- Europe
2030 (100 years)- (Outside) <S. America, and Asia will probably be competing for this one>
