Asian Cup China '04 Thread

The Japanese players don't deserve boos. I think sport should be separated from politics. However Japanese's behaviour during the Second World War was really shameful. Many of our compatriots died because of their cruelty.:( The most ridiculous thing is that they don't feel apologetic for their atrocities.:kader: :f***:

That's bullshi t. Tell that to van Nistelrooy when he plays Germany.

Bad example. You know why we booed them? Well if you know a little bit about WW2 and what Japan did to their neighbouring countries. It's something Chinese can NEVER put behind.

So just take it as the hatred between the two countries b/c of history and therefore they deserve the boos(I would throw some knives into the pitch if I were there;) ).

Also, not every Chinese fan in is an "anti fan", it's just a small section of fans, just as not every Egnlish fan is a hooligan. So don't put a general tag on our heads. Anyway I apologize if I appear to have taken it personal.
I said some not all the Chinese fans dude. And Korea feels the same way. We had Japanese occupation too, and we have just as much reason to not like Japan. But booing a national anthem is just too disrespectful. I mean its just sport after all, you can boo Koizumi all you want, but something like a soccer national team should be put out of the whole hate thing (maybe little to spark the competition.).

Some other Korean back me up on our history with Japan. It's like I'm the only one here.

Football means to be an emotional game. And that's one of the reasons there are so many "rivaling countries" when it comes to football. Like England vs Argentina, Holland vs Germany. It just adds spice to the game we are all mad about.

Moreover, booing their national anthem is really nothing when you compare it to their raping our women and killing our men in the war.

Ok guys, com'on, lets take our time and enjoy Asian Cup here, instead of bringing back sad history and politics.

Hyun I know what you mean and I know you were just joking, I take no offence or anything and it seems that my "wish" came true. ;) Ryan_goal I know how you feel too, I also feel that way and I wouldn't feel sorry if I booed the anthem either. But the argument seems to start over Hyun's first comment and it was not meant to be offensive or anything, I didn't take any offence and I hope you didn't either. Now we should just stop talking about WWII and anthems and focus on football. After all, this is Soccergaming not the parliament.

I'm surprised that Korea lost, however I kinda felt it coming. Seriously, from a neutral point of view (no patriotism or anything in the mix), I think China stands a better chance against Iran. :p

Jordan has been a great hit in this tourney, they have surprised every1. And I'm not sure what happened with the PK changing ends issue but cheers to Jordan for making it this far and stunning some traditional giants like Korea and Japan. :mrpimp:

why was the Asia Cup hosted in China anyways...I mean they don't have the facilities, stadium, etc, etc. Did anyone see the conditions of the pitch in yesterday's match!? It was terrible...and Japanese players took and missed the first 2...only later for the ref to change pitch sides. at least we won and that's all that matters :rockman:

Blaming on the pitch huh? How come Jordan's players scored their early penalties?

Don't blame our pitches when you buy the referee.

Just click on one of the red lettered lines.

These highlites are low-quality, I saw 2 of China's goals on Omni Channel (Cantonese News). Hao Haidong scored a nice goal and I saw when the Iraqi keeper puch Sun Jihai in the head so he took a dive and won the penalty during stoppage time. :)

I think Iran will win the cup. Japan rode their luck and I don't think China will beat Iran...

btw, does anyone thinks that Ali Karimi looks a bit like Edu?

OLEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

WE WIN!!! OMFG WHAT A ******* AWESOME VICTORY!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA FINALLY!!!

ONE MORE CRACK AND WE'RE KINGS OF ASIA!!!

GO CHINA!!!

We can beat Japan, we've beaten before, in history we've played better against Japan than against Iran, and I'm sure we can prevail this time.

This is a solid NT we're looking at right now, Shao Jiayi is at his prime, he is simply awesome. I hope Hao Haidong will be back for the final.

Shao Jiayi is the soul of the team's offence right now, he's like Kaka for Milan. If he continues to show such great form I'm sure he'll be the best player on 1860 Munchen. :D

Just downloaded and watched the highlight, I think our goalie is an idiot, always dived to his left.

But well, since we won the shoot-out, I am not complaining.:mrpimp:

true, sports is emotional...especially with neighboring countries or nations with long histories and rivalries. but personally, i don't believe that politics and sports should be mixed. and i certainly don't believe that anthems should be booed. i can understand the bitterness. i'm korean...i know many elders that have lots of anger and hurt and bitterness towards the japanese. but i just think it's beyond disrespect to boo an anthem. just sit quiet and cheer loudly for yours.

with that said, i can't believe we lost.
