In 2 games you'll play Inter and probably without Totti. Mancini and De Rossi should be careful vs Siena not to get a yellow either because I think they could be suspended for the "big" match.

Galante: I’m sorry Monday 22 January, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Livorno defender Fabio Galante has apologised for elbowing Francesco Totti, which led to the Roma skipper being sent off.

The match between the Tuscan minnows and the Giallorossi ended 1-1 in a tense atmosphere, after Totti saw red just seconds before the final whistle after reacting to Galante's actions.

“I tried to calm everyone down and I am sorry that Totti was sent off,” said Galante to Radio Radio on Monday.

“He is a good friend of mine and I hold him in great esteem. I didn’t raise my elbow on purpose, I am not a nasty player,” continued the former Inter man.

“I read that I provoked him and that I wanted to hurt his ankle. That is not true, last year I was only booked four times in 35 matches and yesterday’s yellow card was the first for me this term.

“When Totti and I clashed I immediately got up saying that I hadn’t done it on purpose. The referee was calling him and I was trying to calm him down.

“Had the referee been able to manage the situation then I think that nothing would have happened.”

Galante was impressed by Roma’s performance and admitted that he would one day like to join the capital city club.

“They are a strong side, I follow Roma because I have many friends there. They play the best football around and have many good players.

“I would like to play for them in the future, I was close to moving there in the past and I hope it will happen someday,” concluded Galante.

I think both players should of got a yellow and that's it.

The media is pulling for Totti because they want him to play vs Inter.

We'll see what federation does.

Totti handed one-match ban Tuesday 23 January, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma's Francesco Totti will be available for the Scudetto showdown with Inter after he was handed just a one-match ban.

The Giallorossi captain saw red in Sunday’s match with Livorno after reacting to an elbow by Fabio Galante.

Er Pupone was subsequently sent off by referee Nicola Ayroldi, before losing his cool by pushing over his personal trainer Vito Scala while leaving the field of play.

The incident did lead to suggestions that Totti could be punished with more than the mandatory one-game suspension.

However, the disciplinary commission have opted for just a 90-minute stop which means he’ll miss the Siena game at the weekend.

Totti should therefore be available for the February 4 tie at the San Siro when Roma will attempt to cut the gap between themselves and the Nerazzurri.

Totti also received a £7,000 fine and may also be financially punished by his club as suggested by director general Rosella Sensi on Monday.

Meanwhile, Catania will be without top scorer Gionatha Spinesi for three matches for diving and verbally abusing the referee at the end of the game against Cagliari.

Three game ban: Spinesi (Catania)

Two game ban: D’Anna (Chievo)

One game ban: Totti (Roma), Accardi (Sampdoria), Colucci (Catania), A Filippini (Livorno), Montolivo (Fiorentina), Moro (Empoli), Pinzi (Udinese)

Coppa Italia, Milan-Roma 2-2

Good match, Milan very strong the 1st 25-30 minutes, and 2-0, then Roma came back and score with Perrotta and Pizarro (Dida what was thinking of lol?:funny: ).
Now we have a chance to join Inter in the final, we hope, but remember we've lost the last 2 years the cup against Inter, too strong for us now, but we'll see, this is football.:drevil:

Spalletti ‘regrets’ Milan draw Friday 26 January, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luciano Spalletti has praised his men for their Coppa Italia semi-final comeback against Milan – although he insists they could have even won the game.

Ricardo Oliveira and Pippo Inzaghi put the home side 2-0 up in the first 23 minutes, but the Giallorossi kept their Final hopes alive by responding with Simone Perrotta and David Pizarro.

“Milan started very well,” noted the Coach. “We couldn’t find the right balance and Kaka created several problems.

“After their second goal however we got back on track and played well.

“We could have conceded more goals, but instead we offered a good performance. In the second half we had more opportunities and could have won,” added the tactician.

January arrival Christian Wilhelmsson impressed and Spalletti was keen to highlight his contribution.

“He had a great match and gave his all, both in quality and quantity,” he noted. “If he continues like this then I am sure that we will hear about him a lot in the future.

“[Milan boss] Carlo Ancelotti says their chances of qualifying are only at 30 per cent? I don’t agree, they are still 50-50.”

Amantino Mancini was also satisfied with the team’s performance and has called for support at the Stadio Olimpico in the return next Wednesday.

“It’s never easy for us to play at the Stadio Meazza and conceding two goals made things even more difficult, but we reacted well and showed personality,” stated the Brazilian.

“We will have to fight to qualify and I hope the stadium will be sold-out in Rome. Reaching the Final is very important for us.”

Spalletti missing Totti

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luciano Spalletti realises the suspended Francesco Totti will force a Roma reshuffle against Siena.

“Clearly we will miss Totti and it’s always better to have a player like that in your side. I think either Francesco Tavano or Mirko Vucinic will take his place, but I can still change my mind. There are others whose condition needs to be evaluated, like Daniele De Rossi and Philippe Mexes.”

The Giallorossi captain sits out a one-match ban following his petulant dismissal in the 1-1 draw at Livorno last week. Including the Coppa Italia, Roma have shared the spoils in their last three games on the trot.

“It’s just a coincidence that we haven’t been able to get better results. Our opponents don’t get many chances against us, but at the moment they seem to score at the first attempt.”

The midweek 2-2 at Milan showed some major defensive frailties, particularly in the opening half-hour, when it comes to a Trequartista who gets between the lines.

“It’s possibly true, as we do zonal marking, so someone for Siena like Tomas Locatelli or Ciccio Cozza could cause us problems. However, we think we’ve got the right counter-points to neutralise that threat,” continued Spalletti.

“Siena are a good side in great shape at the moment after overcoming a difficult period. Enrico Chiesa can always make the difference, while his teammates are very physical with excellent stamina. It won’t be easy and it would be a terrible mistake to underestimate them as being any less dangerous than Milan or Inter.”

With the Scudetto showdown at San Siro coming up next weekend, Spalletti’s men know the title race could be killed off completely if they fail to beat Siena.

“We believe that we can continue to improve and reduce the gap from the leaders,” insisted the Coach.

Tavano is not the only January arrival, as Christian Wilhelmsson has already impressed in an advanced midfield role.

“He is a player who can do everything. I already knew of him and expected great quality, but he also did very well to settle in quickly and was ready for action. He has shown that he can give this team a real helping hand.”

The relatively small crowd for the Coppa Italia tie on Thursday night brought up the issue of falling attendances in Italy and Spalletti suggested a new solution.

“I think there should be a longer winter break. How can families come to San Siro for a game that kicks off at 21.15 in the January snow? If we don’t consider these factors, how are we going to get people back into the stadiums?”

Roma squad: Bertagnoli, Cassetti, Chivu, Curci, De Rossi, Doni, Faty, Ferrari, Mancini, Mexes, Okaka, Panucci, Perrotta, Pizarro, Rosi, Taddei, Tavano, Tonetto, Virga, Vucinic, Wilhelmsson

62' M. Vucinic

Vucinic with the goal and Tavano with the assist. 7 points over Palermo again. Very important win. Remember that in last two seasons we lost by Siena at home.
