All I can say after watching some Man U matches without Beckham :
" No Beckham, no more boring, constant right wing crosses from a guy with a weird changing hairstyle with earings and tatoos and lip-balm all the time "

Hats off to IceBlu. It must have been difficult for a self-confessed Man Utd hater to write something like that. :)

Seems that both sides are getting a bit carried away. Last season United probably had the worst injury crisis of any team in the EPL, managed to hang in the title race (just) and then not only pipped Arsenal to the post but left them trailing by more points than anyone would've thought possible at the turn of April (just 1 month before the season end).

Arsenal, while they have made many signing, and having lost Seaman who was one of their best players (but he was getting on a bit and performance was bound to drop, and he got injured quite a bit last season), they haven't really lost anyone. They've still got their team together, but Vieira's hesitancy in signing a new contract may cause unrest, like the media circus that surrounds Beckam may have caused. But if they have the same players then it's safer to assume that they will perform to the same standard as last season at leat, and not actually get worse.

I think in getting rid of Beckham, United may have created a more unified team spirit and it could very well prove to improve the teams play. United definately played better towards the end of the season when Beckham was not in the team, which was odd.

It could be an interesting season with Chelsea and Newcastle being the two teams that turn the title race into a 4 team battle, possibly 5 if Liverpool change from a team that actually look on the down.

Youth Team
Comparing Rio O'shea Silvestre and G.Neville to lauren campbell keown/new crappy signing and A.cole i know who i'd want defending my goal! Furthermore Man United have now invested in a goalie who actually makes saves now so we should concede a lot less. Whereas arsenal have bought a mediocre 33 year old bloke...

Arsenal have done absolutely nothing pre-season whereas man united have thrashed many teams with a lot of youth in their line-ups. Chelsea will do better than Arsenal as they have a strong defence and excellent goalie and now not a bad midfield. And when Vieira packs his bags for Madrid Arsenal will be nothing more than a memory.......

arsenal will soon do a leeds if they dun sort their financial difficulties.... they should scrap their stadium coz they are never, never, eveerrrrr going to play in a Champions League final..... they have a goalkeeper who conceded a ljungberg own goal..... and a thierry henry free kick...
Arsenal should join the scubadiving league..... so arsenal can attack.... so what.... they can concede and if im not mistaken, they are the team in the 2002-2003 season that conceded the highest amount of own goals..... (edu, gilberto, toure, campbell, keown)

the only advantage that Arsenal has, is that because of an early exit on the CL they'll be able to concetrate more on the EPL.

Other than that, Chelsea and Newcastle have a better shot at the title than Arsenal

ManU fans make the same erroneous arguments.

1) they overcame an injury crisis - Wrong!! They won matches after the team got healthy. That isn't overcoming an injury crisis, logic says you would have to play well when the team is injured to state you overcame it.....

2)they had more injuries than any other team - Wrong!! I have already shown stats that Arsenal had more missed games by frontline players, and it's probably true that Lpool had it worse than ManU.

3)Beckham contributed little - Wrong!! check his assists and games played and rethink that position. That argument is used for the CL, but ManU fans eager to banish the boy have now added it to the EPL.

4) ManU are a great European team - apparently 1win in nearly 50 years qualify you to be a "GREAT" European team. Or maybe sniffing quarter-finals give ManU players a "head".

cough, cough.... we won 2 titles in 50 years...at least its better than clubs who dun even win or making QF..... we do not make arrogant comments.....our almost reserve team beat Arsenal 2-0 at Old Trafford.... dun bring up that pathetic FA Cup win over us.... that is only a cup.... Wenger boasted and got toasted..... Man U are a great european side because they win first 4 matches in first and second group stage.... compare that to arsenal who cannot win first 4 and have players scoring own goals...:rockman:

Harsh, that was nowhere near reserve team that beat Arsenal.

Not our complete team, but only 3 or 4 missing players.

Basically the Arsenal fans argue that when they play at their best no one can beat them. Not really. When Man Utd are at THEIR best no one can beat them. You beat us a few times and what happens? All of a sudden you think you're the best team there is. You cant cope in the champions league. Any team that can't cope in the CL is not worthy of being a champion. Man Utd get to the quarterfinals for 7 consecutive seasons. Where were you Arsenal? Oh yeah, training at you're mediocre sized pitch at the mediocre sized highbury. You win because you basically outshoot the opponent. What happens when you are shut down or outshot? You fall apart. Fall to pieces. Remember 01 when we trounced you 6-1? You remember what happened? We outshot you, out classed you, shut you down. THat's us at our best and we didn't even have van nistelrooy then. If Man Utd play against you like they played against Juventus Arsenal wont stand a damn chance. Man Utd are a changed side. They might not have signed the biggest and best, but they are playing differently. They are shutting down teams and killing them. We beat Celtic 4-0, Club America 3-1, Juventus 4-1, Barcelona 3-1. These are scores you can only dream about. Try going to Turin and beating Juventus 3-0
no wait, YOU CANT. So give it up. Give up the stupid moronic arrrogance before you get embarrased again.
