Harry Potter 5: If you watch it keeping the book in mind, you'll be disappointed in every turn. The characters suffer alterations, the plot suffers alterations, even the setting suffers alterations. But on its own, it's an alright film. The young actors are improving, although the gap between their performance and that of the adults is tremendous. I really liked how they portrayed the duels, it was a very interesting watch, although granted that they cut pretty much everything in the book to a third of its size, I hoped the battle scene would be enlargened, but I disappointed there, too. Anyway, really liked the older people's acting, not so much the young folk, and excellent effects, other than that, pretty mediocre. Only reason I liked it more than other films is because I liked the actual book better.
Silence of the Lambs. Interesting. I had been warned not to watch it, but I really didn't find it at all scary. Maybe I missed something? Still, Mr. Lecter has to be one of the greatest villains/anti-heroes ever. Couldn't really sympathise with anyone in the film. Not with Clarice, not with Hannibal, not with Buffallo Bill. You could interpret it as intentional, to highlight Lecter's lack of empathy, but the underlying effect simply had me wishing to see Lecter on, since his parts in the film were very memorable.
Also watched this documentary by Richard Dawkings about religion and its faults. It was quite odd, since, given that he starts talking like a die-hard, close-minded atheist, but you slowly see why that might be, since everyone he talks to is even more close-minded, but whose opinions are more damaging/ridiculous. Intriguing documentary.
Also watched A Raising in the Sun at school, which was alright, wouldn't watch it again, nothing special.
