Country over club.
I would prefer Russia to achieve the semifinal(even the semifinal) on the World Cup over Lokomotiv winning the CL.

I'll be mad but it's not the end of the world. I remember Paraguay missed the '94 WC by one goal.

I'm happy if my country don't make it into a WC. Why ? Because our fans are hostile & throwing objects at the field. It's just worse when I'm seeing them at International stage level.

When the players start to lose a goal/goals, get ready to see these scenes: harsh tackling, pushing, kicking, and elbowing opponent players without having a ball around them.

Seeing our fans destroying infrastructure around them, rob, steal, burn cars, & destroy parks, it's just embarassing.

Nah, Indonesian fans are the "funniest" unemployments you could ever watch :(:(:(

Back to the subject : it`s ironic that my country is not a WC regular. Back in the 50`s and 60`s we are probably the strongest football team in Asia. We even manage to hold a draw against the European Champion Soviet Union in the `56 Olympics. But that`s only history now. We`re even outplayed by teams like Thailand or New Zealand. Football in my country has never been this low. Scandals, the FA President is in jail, corruption, etc. With all that ****s no wonder I think that we won`t even make it to the WC in another millenium. It`s ironic, tough we have the talents ( one of our youth football schools won the third position in some European competition lately, and one of the strikers is sent to the Ajax Academy ), especially in the eastern regions like Papua, and I can assure you that you can never find a football passion bigger than the one in Indonesia anywhere in Asia, but we never really make it when it counts to the big stage.

Just to add, Indonesia were in the WC in 1938, but it was formerly known as a Dutch East Indies under Dutch colony back then. Lost to Hungary 0-6.

I'm sad that the Dutch colony didn't rule Indonesia... :(
Come on Dutch people, invade Indonesia like back then. We could be one of the strongest in Asia at least.

I have much more pride for England than I do Man Utd. I would love to see England win world cup over United winning EPL/CL.

Really, what can you do if your national team gets eliminated save extracting divine justice and gutting the manager?

Club and country is about 50-50 for me, though I only support the Belgian NT during the big games and tournaments, couldn't care less about their other games...
Besides, it looks like we're not going *damn you Bosnia*, so now I care even less about the tournament.

In summary

people from italy, england, brazil, argentina,Holland and other powerhouses would certainly choose country over club bcuz of their active participation in world cup tournaments

If someday Brazil fúcks up and don't qualify to a world cup I'll laugh my arse off for a straight month... unlikely, I know, but I would love it...

you are the weirdest Brazilian Ive ever met :s

To me, Clubs are ALL about the money. And Country is ALL about the PRIDE.

The World Cup is the greatest tournament in all the world for me.

Well, some people (like myself) don't give a **** about national pride. For the club staff, sure it's about money, but the fans (and some players) don't care about money, they just love the club.

My club team never has made me run outside in the streets with a flag like my country.

I know exactly what you mean. You should have seen all the Portuguese flags in Newark, NJ during the Euro 2004. We stopped traffic with all the celebrating.

Portugal is more important to me than any club.

clubs may be all about the money (which is sad), but no way country is all about pride... what pride is there when Ronaldo says he's too tired to play? "oh, I'm so proud to represent my country... but I'm too tired right now, so please call me next week?" how long until we hear something like "oh, I love playing for the seleção... that way, I can get a transfer to Europe"

pride my arse... if you lived in Brazil, you know the only time we see brazilian flags around are during world cups.. we're not proud of our country... we're proud of our NT, and that's only because we win things in football... just look at the boards here when Brazil lost to the Argies and when we beat them in the confed cup...

and then there are the hypocrites who say stuff about other people being arrogant and everything... from what I see, if Brazil ever manage to be a decent country, we'd be much, much worse than them...

I wonder if we'll ever stop looking at the NT as if it was our country... and that the fact that the nt wins world cup doesn't mean there are people dying of famine... like someone famous once said, football is the people's opium...

sorry for the rant...

when u say club over country do you mean liverpool over brazil!? thats disgusting! (N)
