Past achievements represents the heights that a club has reached. If all you look for is what's doing for you now, you should be Chelsea fan or something.

Even though past achievements show what height the club has reached it counts for nothing in the current time. Liverpool are the greatest English club going by cups and all that but it's not doing anything for them now is it? Same for us, even though we had a magnificent season in 1999 it's hardly doing us any good at this moment. That's football, if you want to stay you have to prove yourself season after season after season.

Having said that, Arsenal have yet to do that.

Silvestre boost

Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre is hoping to be fit for the second leg of the club's Champions League tie against Porto.

The Frenchman missed the 2-1 first leg defeat in Portugal last Wednesday with an ankle ligament problem and was expected to be sidelined for three weeks.

But Silvestre believes he is making good progress in his recovery and is confident of making the squad for next Tuesday's clash at Old Trafford.

Silvestre told MUTV: "It is looking good and I am looking forward to training again at the end of the week.

"It will be less than three weeks. I should be fit for Porto, maybe even before. For Porto, I think I will definitely be in the squad."

you know ****all about our club, don't try to be clever.

I imagine that everyone's getting sucked into that "richest club in the world" bollocks that gives the impression we can spend spend spend like the nouveau riche.

well we're not that rich, we're a financially well run club that has a transfer budget to stick to.

it's all to do with the proportion of the transfer budget that a player costs.

robben would've been a large proportion, possibly the largest single one, of next summers transfer fund, the board are saving the cash for the summer.

WTF are Arsenal fans doing in our thread? Yes i do admit that Arsenal are the best club in England at the very exact moment. And it will be really hard to knock them off there. (only if Rio:( ). I want United to win something, but realistically EPL is Arsenal's.

Arsenal fans: Don't get enough enjoyment from being the Best in England atm, so you decide to come here and brag?:kader: . do you see us going to your Arsenal thread and bragging?

I don't think that you got my point. It doesn't matter if we have nothing to brag. When we had something, we still didn;t go to other team threads and started going off-topic, which is exactly what bobby is doing right now, with his low division teams.

I know we're not getting pushed around by mister 'I-Just-Started-Supporting-Arsenal-liketwoyearsago'... Buzz off, get lost. You're good but not that good trust me. You may win the prem and conquer the domestic things, but win the champions league my ass. Whos been the team to reach the quarterfinals for like 6 years in a row? Certainly aint Arsenal I can tell ya that and it's not even like our team was that good anyway, due to Ferguson being sterile in the transfer market and all. I aint trying to take away from your success, but dont come in here and plant your ass on a throne, pointing down on us talking about what excuses we're making, or I'm afraid I might have to bite off that pointing finger and spit it back in your face...

True that. And it was 7 times btw, not 6:p .

I think Sir Alex still has some tricks up his sleeve. He is currently linked with Tevez, de Ridder (
), Jimenez. IF we could get all of them, I'd give up Robben in a flash, it's not like he could fly over immediately and help us beat Fulham Arsenal Porto right now. There will be some good signings this summer.

United the richest again

Manchester United have again topped the rich list of football clubs based on last season's income.
The list, produced by accountants Deloitte, revealed that United's income was £167.83m last term, well ahead of nearest rivals Juventus.

Juventus earned £145.75m, while crisis club Leeds are surprisingly 16th on the list after earning £61.41m.

Leeds' presence is down to income, despite shares being suspended and reported debts of around £100m.

They dropped down from 11th place on the last list and the Premiership has a strong presence elsewhere.

Arsenal, who have finally confirmed plans to move to a new stadium based at Ashburton Grove to boost revenue, were named as the seventh richest club.

And they have now secured funding for the 60,000-seater stadium, which they expect to be open for the 2006/07 season.

Arsenal raised £260m for the Ashburton Grove project via a senior loan facility from a stadium facilities banking group, and added £97m themselves through Granada, Nike and sale of land

They earned £99.87m last season, with Liverpool a place behind with an income of £99.74m.

Liverpool are also in the process of putting plans together to move from Anfield to a 60,000-seater stadium in Stanley Park, near to their current home to increase their income.

They have applied for planning permission for the £80m stadium and - like Arsenal - want to make up ground lost to Manchester United financially and increase income by having a greater capacity.

Officials at both clubs are concerned at their ground capacity at both Highbury and Anfield being so far below United's 67,000-plus at Old Trafford.

Newcastle United were ninth on the list with an income of £92.73m, while Chelsea, now backed by the financial muscle of billionaire Roman Abramovich, are a place behind with £89.32m.

Tottenham make the list in 15th (£63.81m), while Scottish Premier League champions-elect Celtic earned £58.07m.

Champions League winners AC Milan were the third richest club with an income of £133.66m.

And Real Madrid, complete with England captain David Beckham, are fourth after earning £128.5m.

Manchester United also come out on top in comparison against the biggest sporting franchises in the United States, where the New York Yankees head the list with an income equivalent of £162.7m.
