Summer Music Festivals

My plans for Roskilde this year:

Tool
Placebo
Morrissey
Dylan
Roger Waters
Volbeat
Hatesphere
Dälek
Looptroop
Deftones
Birdy Nam Nam
Balkan Beat Box
Burst
Ba Cissoko
Coheed and Cambria
George Clinton Parliamen/Funkadelic
Guns 'n' Roses

Kanye West

Why do I get the bad feeling that I wont manage to see half of those because of the scheduling? :(

I'm starting to hate Summer Fests. They're more like Dust Fests, or Can't Take a Shower Fests, or Stupid Stoned Neighbour Playing Drums All Night Fests, or The Crapper Is Flooded With Pooh Fests, or Beer Is 2€ Fests.
Besides, bands are usually worse here, because:
a) they play less time
b) it's not their PA (lights, sound system, etc.)
c) crowd didn't come to the event to specifically see them, so excitment fest << excitment stand-alone gig.
d) usually good emerging bands play during daylight; established boring acts are headliners.

So yeah, either Summer Fests are boring or I'm getting old. (C)

HAW, HAW, HAW, HAW, HAW......what a beautiful piece of rant from you there, man

Tool, Deftones, Craplacebo and...

ALICE IN ****IN CHAINS!!!!

all on the 26th this month, in Super Bock Super Rock (H) I'm SO gonna be there

I'm going to be there in that day as well. Bought the tickets today, actually. (H) :rockman:

i get to see alice in chains too, supporting metallica, trouble is there are 2 stages so they might **** up schedueling.

Funkster, who's doing the impossible task of filling in for Layne? Maynard and Phil the Phanny Anselmo both did a horrible and physically sickening job of interpreting his vocals.

The lead of a band is damn near impossible to replace, man. Lead guitarists are a dime a dozen (Cantrell excluded) for the most part. A barely above average rythm section is hard enough to find never mind a solid one, so they can also be very difficult to replace, but when the lead perishes, the entire band goes with her/him in my opinion.

Apparently for Super Bock Super Rock, it'll be William DuVall formely of Madfly, curently with Comes With The Fall... Never heard him

And I do agree, Layne, just like Freddy Mercury and Phil Lynot, is simply unreplaceble.

His vocals we're so unique. Chains we're built on that and Cantrell's riffing, and now u only have 50% of it...

Anyone else going reading.
i was proper chuffed when i managed to get my ticket but looking at the thrid day looks a bit ****.
Placebo are one of the headliners - says it all really :(

Haha, Kreator...what a sh!te band. :D

Haha :D
They threatened to cancel their show because they thought that Ultima Thule (who are also performing) are the nazi band from Sweden...actually it's a jazz band from Estonia with the same name (H)

Reviving the SuperRock SuperBock issue, i was positively surprised with the Alice in Chains concert, i thought that Duvall made a good job specially on "would?" and "them bones". I was really skeptic before the show but i was pleased in the end. What were your impressions (directed to the portuguese SG users)? Deftones weren´t bad either (man whatever happend to Chino? So fat) but Tool was the pick of the night. I left so exausted that i slept for 16 hours straight the next day.
Today it´s the second act, going there mainly for Franz Ferdinand, the rest of the concerts aren´t really appealing for me (Keane and The Cult).

just got back from guns 'n' roses. absolutely phenomenal (sp?)!!! Axl Rose was ******* great. the new band are great too, they pulled it off really well. pity they only did an instrumental to don't cry.

Sorry for the late reply: didn't get in time to see AIC, and that sucked. Got to hear the last songs of the Deftones gig when I was arriving and it seemed solid.
It was the 3rd time I saw Placebo live and clearly their worse performance. They looked tired and Brian Molko seemed as if he had his mind on something else during the whole gig (like boning dudes or something).

Tool were simply amazing. Great, great live band. I was curious to see if they could pull it off live but they happen to be even better! Best concert of the night.

Finally, a big boo to the morons who cut X-Wife's performance so we could all experience 25 minutes of Placebo's stage roadies tune their guitars. Way to go, dickheads. (Y)
