Summer Music Festivals

Anyone planning on going to any?

I'll be going to the Download festival, the one in the RDS in Dublin, Day 1 is Guns 'n' Roses supported by Motley Crue plus others, day 2 is unconfirmed, fingers crossed for SOAD, and days 3 is Metallica supported by Korn, and from what I've heard to today ples David Hasselhoff plus others.

Other one I'm thinking about is the Oxegen festival at Punchestown Racecourse. Headliners are the Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Who, with other confirmed artists being Primal Scream, Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes and Kasier Chiefs. Downside is the Chilis are due to perform during the World Cup final.

What are all the other festivals lining up like?

I plan on going this year, Tool (!!!!!!!!) have been confirmed I believe, with rumours circulating about the likes of Radiohead and QOTSA....I hope to God Metallica and SOAD come too, that would be ness!

I'm starting to hate Summer Fests. They're more like Dust Fests, or Can't Take a Shower Fests, or Stupid Stoned Neighbour Playing Drums All Night Fests, or The Crapper Is Flooded With Pooh Fests, or Beer Is 2€ Fests.
Besides, bands are usually worse here, because:
a) they play less time
b) it's not their PA (lights, sound system, etc.)
c) crowd didn't come to the event to specifically see them, so excitment fest << excitment stand-alone gig.
d) usually good emerging bands play during daylight; established boring acts are headliners.

So yeah, either Summer Fests are boring or I'm getting old.

What I want is Muse in one of those, or in Paredes de Coura...but RHCP is just good enough for making me go to RIR.

And I partly agree with Infesta, those summer festivals are just getting way too old. But hey, at least a guy can see some cute girls (and horny ones btw) and "mosh" :x

it's just that Rock In Rio has much more impact for the rock legends who have been there...

they took off metal day this year... honest if it wasn't for Guns/RCHP I wouldn't even consider

and Guns are not going, Axl is going to get bitchie, fire someone, moap and not show up, and Chinese Democracy gets delayed for 4 more years

it isn't absurd...Rock In Rio is a brand, so it's like any music festival name..if they change it to moscow it'd be rock in rio moscow.....as a brazilian(as i think you are, since your location says Brasil) you should know better...

well the Donnington festival changed it's name to Download. whenever i think of rock in rio i think of iron maiden and guns 'n' roses

I went to Rock in Rio last year, i don´t really like the concept but i loved the Metallica and Slipknot concerts, the rest i didn´t really care.

No you idiot, i prefer the 3 day summer festivals with a more alternative type of music without comercialism crap rather than festival who mix Metallica with Brittney Spears and Slipknot or Foo Fighters with Black Eyed Peas.
