I think there should be more freedom defending. It is for me a real problem sometimes to choose the right player to defend. I keep switching and switching and it seems the right player i want to choose is impossible to achive or it takes ages til i get him.

This becomes horrible, specially in human vs human games.

So i propose that the changing player button should subsist but the 2nd analog stick should be given a new functionality. When defending, the 2nd anolog stick should be used to switch to the player we wish, pointing directly to the one we want, and keep changing until we finally get the player we wish. This would make the process much faster and would make the defences much more dinamic.

Total freedom not only attacking but defending as well.

I agree, the switching is awful and you should be able to switch to any player you need. But holding down the player switch button whilst switching with the directional would be easier.

Yes many times it frustating 'cause the offensive has a good changing option, but when you're as the defender it takes ages to get the possesion of the ball before they shoot on target, and also they should change the botton which you make the tackle, 'cause with the same you shoot so many times you just tackle and then fly the ball to line 18 of the stadium

Absolutely! The really important thing is to make it easy to switch to the player we want. And in a fast way too!

Holding down the switching button whilst using the directional button seems a good thing also, and it is fitter for most of the gamepads and keyboards, that don't have a 2nd analog button.

About changing the tackling button... It is true that many times we tackle and then we shoot accidently. However, this can be trained so that we don't do it any more. In that sence, keeping it can help to distinguish the good from the best. And there's a long tradition, ever since the first Fifa 1994, to use this same key to shoot, when attacking, and to tackle, when defending.

Really perfect, would be the option to choose the keys to attack and the keys to defend, separatly.

i think the tackling button should also be entirley independent, that is to say that whatever button they deam the tackling button should be reserved strictly for tackling and have no other possible functions. I also think it would be interesting if they incorporated the use of the analog stick into defending so you could like swipe at players and depending on how good you were with it you could swipe it away from your opponent and get an advantage of 5 yards when running away with the ball. This would add such a huge dimension to the defensive side of the game and make the game so much deeper in this area. There could however be a higher potential of your defender getting beat when the "defensive analog stick" (we'll call it) is used over zealously. basicly it is a slightly watered down hit stick which became somewhat of a popular instillation in the madden series. Personally I think this idea is golden, but the game is called Derek soccer 2006 unfortunetly, what do you guys think? By the way I too agree that the switching player business is far to difficult or unweildy to control and defenetly could do with some severe revision by the HERO's at EA.

Yes, making the tackle button independient would be a great improvement to the game and it would make easier and better :jap:

Good idea...

They have to figure this out. It is a great idea. This would give us greater control and that's what Soccer is all about...
Let us hope they fix this and other problems for 2006. Otherwise I'm not buying :nape: .

Another think is that they should make a more aggressive defense instead of a very poor aggresive defense :jap:

That should be an tactical option we should be able to choose.

However, more agressive diferences = more tired defenders = more cards = more open spaces = more risks.

That would then obligate to rethink tactis as well, so this could be used to one's benifit depending on the kind of strategy we use, depending on the kind of opponent we are facing, etc...

As we know, every little change brings in a lot of complex issues...

We should have more freedom playing FIFA everywhere: defence, ofence, goalkeeping, playing cards, and just watching Jerry Springer (for those who watching this show, new episodes start on Wednesday, May 21 :). So work on it EA, and work hard, because i think that you just leying on your couches and drinking beer all the time. Get up, think, watch "Springer" and make good footy game!!! :rockman:

Too right mate, makes sense to me.
Theres nothing better than going in for a slide tackle ...
Then watching a completely different player, slide tackle a blade of grass ... :funny:

I actually like the switching. You do realize that if you don't, you can turn it down on the options menu.

Yeah, but i'm not talking about the autoswitching. That's even worse! I'm talking about manual switching with total liberty to pick the player you choose.
