Hey everyone,
As a long-standing community that’s been modding FIFA and now EA SPORTS FC for over two decades, we’ve seen the scene evolve in many ways.
With the growing interest in modding tools and content across platforms, we felt it was a good time to remind everyone of EA’s official stance on mods including what’s allowed, what isn’t, and how creators can stay within the rules.
Mods Are Allowed But Must Remain Non-Commercial
EA in general doesn't allow modifications to their games, however they tolerate and permit it as long as they’re:
Early Access & Donations Allowed
EA recognizes that mods take time and resources so creators are allowed to offer early access to supporters (e.g., via Patreon), but this must follow specific rules:
What About Multiple Versions or Updates?
While not specified in EA's policy and in order to avoid exploitation of the early access period, the following conditions should be followed for FIFA/FC mods:
If your mod has multiple major versions released throughout the year (e.g. v1.0, v2.0, v3.0), each new version can have its own early access period, as long as it follows the same rule: a maximum of 7 days before the full version is made public.
However, minor updates such as those that only ensure compatibility with a new EA Title Update should be released to the public without any delays, since they don’t contain meaningful new content.
A Note for Our Community
This forum has always valued openness, collaboration, and respect for the games we love and the creators who build for them. As a community, it's important we all stay aligned with EA’s policies, not just to protect our passion and hobby, but to keep the modding ecosystem thriving for everyone.
And a final reminder: all mods are built using EA’s intellectual property. Nobody owns these assets except EA! Anyone claiming otherwise is either misinformed or deliberately ignoring the facts and that kind of stance holds no legal ground.
Unauthorized use can lead to takedowns, bans, or lawsuits from EA.
Let’s keep things fair, open, and on the right side of the line.
Thanks,
The SG Team

EA in general doesn't allow modifications to their games, however they tolerate and permit it as long as they’re:
- Distributed for free
- Not sold, licensed, or rented
- Not tied to any form of in-game or external payment system
Early Access & Donations Allowed
EA recognizes that mods take time and resources so creators are allowed to offer early access to supporters (e.g., via Patreon), but this must follow specific rules:
- The early access period must be temporary and reasonable. While no specific term is mentioned, the community standard is 7 days, which is generally accepted as a reasonable early access period.
- Once that period ends, the full mod must be made available for free.
- Everyone must have access to the full version of the mod, not a stripped-down or limited release.
- Donation links or ads must stay on your website or mod page, not inside the mod itself.
