CIS KITS EURO '92

The USSR qualified for Euro '92, but with the country formally ceasing to exist at the end of 1991, a transitional association was formed to represent the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and thus fielded a team at the tournament.

The old USSR red and white colours were retained, in adidas' latest template, with a simple "CIS" text under the adidas logo on the front of the shirt. After the tournament the CIS team was disbanded with all former USSR states had their own national sides.

The goalkeeper jerseys were the adidas Equipment designs first used in mid-1991, though as both Dmitriy Kharin and Stanislav Cherchesov preferred to wear tracksuit bottoms when playing, I've paired the shirts with standard adidas Equipment shorts and socks.

I've been doing national team kits in groups based on international tournaments - currently I am 98% done with the kits from Euro '92... all outfield kits are done and according to my list I've only got the England goalkeeper kits to do (they were new designs launched alongside a new third kit that year).

I've posted some participants kits already (I must admit it's easy for me to lose track - the search function on this forum isn't the best........ ) ... but anyhow, first up, the hosts...

SWEDEN KITS EURO '92

Sweden hosted Euro '92 and hoped to fare better on home ground after their poor showing at the 1990 World Cup. They would wear the new adidas Equipment kits though the home kit would end up being used for all of their matches.

The away kit was a reversal of colours... the kit itself was never worn by the senior team (save for the socks in pre 1994 World Cup friendly against Colombia), but did get used by the Swedish Olympic football team at Barcelona '92, where blue-yellow-blue and all-blue got used.

It appears Thomas Ravelli only wore the black kit, paired with blue socks... not sure of any other designs used during these kits' run.

Nightmare doing the collar for this......... probably the most un-Everton shirt ever.

Tried using collar 9 or 10 but the cut is far too low, had to improvise, I do recall some Everton players did put a rip in the collar as it was so high up the neck.

Also don't mention the shade of blue to an Evertonian :D

GHANA KITS 1993-94?

I've seen a lot of conflcting information of when exactly Ghana wore these amazing set of strips, they were certainly marketed as replicas here at the time but between 1993-95 they seemed to wear these designs as well as some adidas Equipment teamwear shirts too.

I've also seen the trefoil in white on the pattern on the away shirt too, but not sure which is correct... likewise I'm sure I seen a "GHANA" logotype on the back too... not sure. Likewise I've had to guess the away shorts and socks colours and design.

Anyway, what is more straightforward is that goalkeepers seemed to use the "Taifun" design, very popular in the early 90's

Your kits are great man, they deserve a minikit maker..

They definitely do. I would try and do the minikits myself but don't think I have the proper patience with them to be honest. I've seen some tools to "automate" the process but they're often FIFA 17 onwards kit models, which have a different sleeve map.

Anyway I feel like I got a lot of WIP work at the moment... but have also worked on this Puma template launched in 2000. Lots of teams used this from what I remember so processing kits will be straightforward.

Wasn't as easy to make as it looks... also I can never get the collar insert 100% accurate, yet in FIFA games from FIFA 17 onwards, model 2 would have been ideal...

It is absolutely criminal that there aren't more African NTs in the game

Hmm well Parma was yellow/blue hoops for a time, Everton wore this shirt from 1997-99, but it wasn't popular with their fans. More to do with the shade of blue rather than the horizontal stripe.

Agreed, think it's something to do with licences and stuff... though there had been a number of unlicenced national teams in FIFA before... I know the first ever FIFA game had quite a few African national teams.

Would you consider adding the kit type (home, away etc.) and collar number on the images themselves?
Now that's a thought... I'd have to do it to every kit image I have which will take me a long time but it would be useful, thinking about it.

You could add a banner on your base template and simply type them in on the image rather than on the posts here, whatchu think?

I have a PSD minikit generator for FIFA 16. I can share if you want.

thanks for the link... might take me a bit of time to understand the tutorial as it's all in Polish and my Polski isn't the best - despite living in a town with a fairly sizeable Polish diaspora :D

Anyway I've been super busy with non-FIFA editing stuff... real life, it takes over, Christmas around the corner too... just spend silly money on a lot of gifts for my 10 year old daughter, just wish she'd like football more :D

I'll post this bit of WIP though, always wanted to make this kit... though whilst it was a stunning shirt for the time, I was still a bit bitter that Italy pipped us in their qualifying group to qualify for Euro 2004... never liked Pippo Inzaghi anyway he was born offside!!! :D

It's nowhere near finished yet though, still got the shoulder detail to do, and the "extra cuffs" effect... this was a truly unique Puma kit as other Puma teams in Euro 2004 had a completely different template, but IIRC the Italian contract was Puma's biggest at the time so they had a more bespoke strip.

and the front... so far!

I reckon this'll look fab when I've completed it... also the goalkeeper kits were of a similar but-not-the-same design, few tweaks here and there.... then the numbers too which were a lovely serif font in gold!

Almost done, just got the shorts and socks to do, then the away kit (simply a recolouring) and the goalkeepers.

I do know that Italy wore a very rare one-off navy kit in Iceland in 2004 as well, in a different template - looked like a training kit. A very unusual inclusion in the Italian kit canon.
