RENT-FREE BI-PLANE FLIERS FC STOCKPORT COUNTY 1991/92 KITS

Anyway, Stockport switched from Ribero to Gola in 1991 and also switched from a white strip to a predominantly blue kit, with red "flashes".
If the home kit was a radical departure, so too was the away, in yellow with a blue and white all-over graphic pattern.

The Hatters would reach the Third Division playoff final, but would lose out to Peterborough United. Meanwhile that sponsor logo makes me want to go out for a curry

WERDER BREMEN KITS 1998/99
Werder retained the previous home kit as the away strip (and would subsequently repeat this for 1999/00), whilst introducing new home and third strips that also featured an elaborate watermark.

Note there were two goalkeeper strips that were identical but not the same... the shirt without the Werder badge was worn by Frank Rost in the 1999 DFB-Pokal final, which resembles a Puma training jersey (and combined with black shorts with a narrow green stripe).

indeed, from what I can gather Köln wore 4 kits that season...

Red/orange home kit
White away kit (was the 96/97 home kit)
Navy third kit with white front panel
Red and white diagonal "Monaco style" retro version of their 1968 shirt

I can't find images of the third kit in use, however... I'd think Köln would have worn this at Hamburg, who had an Ajax-style shirt that season.

The Monaco kit was the centenary kit for 50th Köln birthday, the navy one was the away kit. You will find all kits here:

FC PORTO 2002/03 KITS (European spec)
Porto went with unfamiliar "narrow" stripes for the 2002/03 season... though at least it was back to stripes after their "Blackburn Rovers" style shirts of the previous campaign. The away strip was in aqua blue with an elaborate pattern......... the kits will be remembered for their successful UEFA Cup campaign where they won the final against Celtic.

I'm proper plodding along with the Nike Total 90 kits of 2004/05 as well as getting back to grips with a lot of WIP kits... yes, I have a lot of unfinished kits, I just go with wherever my mood takes me with kit making!

Anyway, some interesting notes I found with the Total 90 kits was the differences in the trim/mesh panelling of the player-spec shirts in comparison to the replicas. At first glance, the differences are not obvious, but when I've studied the differences between player-spec and replica shirts, the sides/sleeves do have some rather big differences.

Take for example the Valencia "Senyera" kit I showed you on the previous post. Now, the replica shirt looks like this - the underarm panels are like a rounded square, the side panels are completely meshed, and the yellow piping (you have to look closely) goes all the way to the bottom of the shirt hem...

However, the player-spec shirt had a slightly different construction - the mesh panelling under the arms was a lot different, and went into a curved angled design on the underarms. The yellow piping actually doesn't go all the way to the shirt hem either, instead it gets truncated by part of the side panelling.

Also on player-spec shirts the stitching appears to be all reversed too. I noticed Nike replicas and player-spec shirts of the 2000's/2010's did have quite a number of subtle differences which are hard to see with the untrained eye, but once you've spotted the differences it's hard to unsee them.

Compare with a real player-spec shirt... note this shirt also has a red number panel, where it was used in UEFA competition but not domestically...
Another note is that sizing of mesh panels and stripes on shirts could vary depending on the shirt size too, another matter that has perplexed me when trying to make accurate designs (e.g. size XL can be vastly different to size M).

PORTUGAL KITS 2004/05
Portugal hosted Euro 2004 and also reverted back to the brighter "scarlet" shade of red having worn a darker, "wine red" shade since switching to Nike in 1997. The shirts featured a repeated silhouette of the FPF badge as a shadow pattern, and of course the circle on the front for the front numbers!

The away kit kept the white and dark indigo colours of the previous away strips. Portugal would get to the final of their own Euro tournament, only to be surprised by Greece (who had, of course, beaten Portugal in the tournament opener).

Goalkeepers had the new Total 90 design - though curiously for the Euro 2004 final, Ricardo had a grey shirt that had white numbers instead of black.

FULHAM KITS 2001/02
Fulham returned to the top flight after a 33 year gap, and would wear new adidas kits in the Premier League. They would also be sponsored by Pizza Hut, albeit for just a single season.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR KITS 2001/02
Spurs released two new strips for the 2001/02 season, with a pale sky blue as the away choice. Even though they wore this shirt at Blackburn Rovers in the league, they would wear a one-off yellow and navy shirt with home shorts and socks in the League Cup final against the same opponents.

AIK 2001 KITS
Many years ago on this forum I had a Swedish friend who was a big fan of AIK, and I was always intrigued by their kits because they wore black shirts as a first choice. Anyhow these kits were worn in the 2001 Allsvenskan season, with the home shirt being updated slightly with the Åbro logo now just having the logotype instead of being housed in a red box.

The away shirt was a new 2001 adidas design, but AIK tended to just pair the away shirt with the home shorts and socks whenever there was a clash.

Goalkeepers wore template designs though the yellow shirt was a curious one because the rear of the shirt was black with yellow so looked like an outfield shirt from the back... I believe it did cause a problem so a red teamwear shirt got worn after whenever the blue shirt couldn't be used.

MILLWALL KITS 1999/00
Millwall switched from Asics to Strikeforce in 1999 and also went back in time too - reintroducing the all-white strip and old club crest, both of which were last used in the early 1970's. The away strip was all in amber/yellow with navy trim, though whilst the home kit was retained for the 2000/01 season, a more familiar blue strip would be used that campaign as the change kit.

Goalkeepers primarily wore a green strip, but there was a rare red alternative.
