Anyway, after a decent showing in the try-out match, I got offers from West Ham, Bolton and Birmingham and went with the latter. My main position is SS, 2nd ST and 3rd AMC. Basically I was hoping to mold into a Trequartista, who sits behind the striker (or strikers) and uses the space he gets to slot in the perfect final pass. Unfortunately, teams always line-up with the same initial formation so after a few games on the bench I was given a starting role as a ST, but I had neglected my shooting and dribbling skills in favor of passing, so it turned into a difficult season.
A lot of draws, goal-less matches and lots and lots of missed chances. We ended up 8th after I started getting used to the game, and also managed to beat runaway champs Chelsea for the FA Cup. The next season was very successful as I really grew into the role, being top provider in the league with 14 assists, 2nd top scorer with 22, and we got 2nd. We fell to Lyon in the quarters of the Europa League after I was only given 45 minutes in the tie. And I scored twice in a repeat final but got subbed and Chelsea tied the match, but we clinched it on penalties. I decided that was enough though, and moved to Bordeaux for a shot at a league title.
I've only just started, but I've clinched a starting role as an AMC, which is close enough, because I get to do what I wanted to as an SS, although with more defending involved. So far I've basically been running the team, using the space to not only put in a great ball, but also run into the space the defenders give me when marking the strikers, and score a few goals.
Also, capped twice for Israel, 6-0 against Bosnia and 5-1 against Italy, absolutely bossing the game as a striker.
BAL is fun.
