In North America its easy to buy a dvd player, will cost me about $100 canadian, but in europe or other continets (South America) its not possible to purchase it for most of the people. The default player for a typical pc today is a CD Rom, not a DVD player. Konami made a wrong business decision in my openion. Why should I spend $100 to play that game.

Thats alot of money for a DVD-Rom.

I can just buy myself a standard ide dvd-rom for about £10. :(

Those without a dvd-rom will probably pirate the game off the net unfortunetly.

I'm going to order myself a new LiteON DVD-Rom as soon as possible, the DVD laser in mine as burnt out, only wants to read CD-Rom. =( Ah well.

Thats what will happen, pirate the game and Konami will loose sales, what a decission Konami made :kader: I don't like it a bit, not a bit. :f***:

Todays's computers yes they do but what if a dude has a 3 year old pc and needs to get a dvd player, and an average income will not help him in most of the countries. Myself, I will not buy a dvd player and spend my $100 on it

My point is that a default drive is a CD Rom not a DVD Rom, why do I need a dvd player in my PC, I have a dvd player to watch movies but to play only one game, why should I purchase it?

I read an article in a magazine- back in the year 2000...

It said that a DVD-ROM drive, would be absolutely essential for PC gamers, by the end of that year!!

Well it's nearly 2004 now, and people are complaining about Konami's 'bold' move... :/

/Edit/

It says 'PC CD-ROM' on a certain UK retailer's website, so who knows...

Yup saw the DVD news. I won't buy a damn dvd rom to play one game and watch movies. I won't waste my money and time to buy a damn dvd-drive. I think im going to buy a ps2 :(

I've got no problem with it being available on DVD. Having it exclusively on DVD is going to hurt their sales.
If the PC version bombs like the Gamecube version and I don't get PES4 for PC, I'm gonna be pissed.

This football gaming is an expensive hobby
Quick maths
PS2 = $550
Memory Card = $50 (for 8mb RAM!)
2nd Controller = $50
PES1, WE6, PES2 = $300
Only other game I have for the PS2 is GTA3...

Now I'm going to need to spend
PES3 PC = $85
New controller = $50
DVD-Rom = $50
...almost $200 to play PES3 - average Joe isnt going to pay that.

I've spent more than a grand over 3 years?? Jesus.

If you don't have a PS2, its still cheaper to buy the PC version.

Sorry, are these australian dollars?

What most people will pay is a lot less than you Perth Glory. PES3 PC is £18 here, people probably won't spend more than about £10-15 on a controller(Firestorm is £18 quid I believe which has everything the PS2 controller has) and like as been mentioned earlier you can get DVD drives for £10 now.

That's under £50, and believe me people will pay that.

But then again I could just buy VIVA Football for £3, the graphics are ****e but the game plays a lot better than FIFA.

dvd drives are standard on most new pcs... but if you havent bought a pc within the last yr is likely you dont have a dvd drive.. is always better to use the lower common denominator for a broader reach of people that may buy your game.. so it should be in cd's, is not like is a game like metal gear, that has a lot of cynematic cut scenes that take a lot of space or anything like that, it doesnt even have that large amount of teams or anything... so I dont understand if they release only on dvd.. I will still buy it, but seems bit retarded

I've had my Hitachi DVD ROM drive since the year 2000 (January)- I suppose I was a very early adopter! lol

Yes, I understand your argument fully.

FIFA 2003 is installed off two CDs though. Maybe PES3 is just as big?? Certainly more than 750MB.
It's taking a long time for DVD ROM drives to become the norm.

My DVD ROM drive, is my oldest component- from a Gateway(!!) PIII 500MHz PC. I've built my own PCs since 2001, but the DVD drive is still going strong in my 3GHz Canterwood system!
