Just throwing this fact out, According to ESPN, The WC Final had better TV ratings in the USA than the World Series of Baseball, NBA Finals, Stanley Cup Finals, NCAA Basketball Final, and NCAA Football Title Game.

Leaving only the Super Bowl which I doubt will ever get surpassed.

something like 16.9 million watched the final...
I think all the americans were just eager to watch france lose...
plus it was on a sunday afternoon- as opposed to 6am ET on sunday like in 2002
