World Cup from South Africa to USA?

As many big german newspapers report today, Fifa is seriously considering to cancel World Cup in South Africa and give it to the USA.
South Africa is far behind its time schedule, hardly anything happened from 2004 on, they even still discuss where to build the stadiums, don't have a serious public transport system and enough accomodations.
Now Fifa thinks about giving it to another host country and according to reports USA is a candidate as one believes they are able to organize such a big tournament in a short period of time (big stadiums, infrastructure etc, one does not wnat to give it to Europe again after such a short period of time).

Regarding public transport system.In german TV a member of the south african organisation comittee said they want to transport people in taxis. You know, these taxis you know from Egypt or Turkey, where some group of people (in order to save money) call a small taxi/van and share the price among the people.

According to the sid (Sport-Informations-Dienst) they are also talking about giving another World Cup to Germany, England is also in the talks.

I'm sure Germany has no interest in hosting another Worldcup just four years afterwards as Beckenbauer most likely rarely slept last four years. It's someone other's turn now, altough it has been fantastic.

This is all BS. South Africa will be ready for 2010. They wont let an opportunity like this slip through their fingers.

We know 2014 will be in South America, which country is yet to be determined.

2018 is up for grabs with a number of nations showing an interest including Australia and England.

A World Cup in Russia would be great and it's not that cold over there. They could have matches in great cities like Moscow, St. Petersburg or Königsberg.

PLay all the games in the cricket grounds, easy enough. That happened at the rugby world cup in 2003 anyway.

Although nothing compares to the sheer magnitude of a FIFA World Cup, I wonder how they hosted 2 World Cups since 1995 without proper public transport, accommodations and enough stadiums.....relatively speaking, I guess it just shows how big a fan base there is for those two sports.

Yes there is a large following here but the focus is on hosting the Winter Olympics in 2010..it would be very hard (maybe even impossible) to squeeze in a bigger event.

I dont think they will do such thing, but it would be good. I find it more interesting a world cup in usa even though they hosted it not very long ago. It would be another important push for football in usa and i think it will have a bigger media and fan support there. The idea of moving it to australia is also nice for the same reasons, even nicer since the interest for football seems bigger in australia, and it has never hosted the world cup.

It would be a shame for south africans, but i feel that a world cup there runs the risk to end in a soul less competition like korea's
