With Milner gone, is Leeds doomed?

It was a terrible season. Our team was made up of injury-ridden, underachieving, and unmotivated players. It ended with terrible results. Leeds was the second worst team in the league. We were horrible. We did have a couple of bright spots though. We had a young, talented keeper in Paul Robinson. Matteo and Radebe at least went out and tried. The same went for Alan Smith and James Milner. Smith and Robinson left, Matteo and Radebe are old. But we had James Milner, a product of Leeds' great youth system. The youngest player ever to play in the EPL, and he is good enough to start on a lot of EPL teams. He has the potential to be one of the best midfielders in the world. But most of all he went out and tried really hard. He played with more heart than his teammates that were twice his age. And he loved Leeds. All the other players were dying to leave and left right as the season ended. Even Smith went to our hated rivals. But Milner was different. He actually wanted to stay. It is amazing. Leeds had to convince him to leave.

So now here's the situation. He would've been an international superstar that was loyal to Leeds and would've always gave 110% for the club. He would've helped Leeds get back to the premiership and be a great team. And we lost him. We sold him for 5 million. We could've sold anyone else. We have only gotten rid of a drop from the bucket of Leeds debt. 5 million is nothing. It helps us little. But the thing is we lost our chance. Players like Milner rarely come along, and money doesn't buy that kind of loyalty.

With our only hope gone, are we doomed?

Leeds is taking a far too short-sighted approach. Yeah they have a lot of debt but the only way they will be able to take a big chunk out of that debt is to get back into the Premiership. The way things are going, they will be a long time in rebuilding mode before that happens.

Well not necessarily.

It's kind of a gamble. And quite often you find that in the 1st Div, it's always your ex-Premierleague stars that shine. They seem to want to have a new begining... and hopefully it will work out for them.

Leeds aren't doomed, no way. I think although they are selling their so called best players, I think the team they've brought in so far is very good and quite capable of winning the first division.

Milner, Viduka, And Matteo have all recently left, and from the 4million that Leeds are getting for Viduka, they owe Viduka 2million for wages, and a third has to go to Celtic for the transfer. Leeds United really do suck!

Pretty much Leeds needs a good team to get into the EPL which would help them pay off their debt but they have to sell their best players to stay alive and without them they can't make it back into the EPL. Its just one tough cycle and I don't really think that Leeds can get back into the EPL after next season.

Yeah maybe Milner isn't that good now, but in 5-10 years he'll be one of the best midfielders in the world. He loved Leeds to death, he'd always play for Leeds, a player like that would help so much. Instead our team is now completely made up of mercenaries that will leave soon and won't do well for the club.

But hey, Fiorentina will be in Serie A this upcoming season. I think Leeds has a great shot at getting back to the EPL next season, but even if they do, the debt will be so crippling that they will sell all of their players and be a horrible team that will be relegated after one season.

ManU will not be great forever. Someday, they will take a fall. Maybe it will be even worse than what happened with Leeds. I can see ManU overspending and then underperforming. They spend ridiculous amounts of money and they aren't nearly as good as Arsenal or Chelsea. If ManU loses its popularity, which may be happening as we speak since they've lost Beckham and they aren't as good as they used to, the loss of revenue from merchandise around the world might hurt them enough to throw them into deep debt. Then they have to sell their players to help pay, which makes them a worse team, and that makes the debt even worse, so they have to sell their players, and it becomes a cycle, and there you have it, they've become another Fiorentina or Leeds.
