I read that fifa 2004 doesnt have:

Players skin color not right
No Multi player regular season mode
No world cup
No creation center on PC/PS2
No player transfers only player swaps
Missing players from some squads
Wrong kits for some teams
Stadium realism is wrong for some teams. Most recent example i heard was portsmouth.
Have some teams players playing in the wrong postion
Graphic glitches on both PC and PS2
No online feature for X-box
Player ratings are not very good
No weather changes
Bad camera angles
Multi play career modem is not an option
You can only play your friends in friendlys
Cant make your own cups
The play is to slow
Thing vanish from time to time
No selection of match ball
No full time or half time stats
replays are too short
cant round the keeper
cant chip the keeper
computer a.i only attacks down the middle
problems connecting online via both pc and ps2
no scissor kick
no over head kick
can score from routine corner nearly 80% of the time
same commentary as last year
champions league groups messed up. I.E 3 english always in same group.
No hand ball
No diving
Computer only subs on injuries
cant sprint past players, if u get past the catch up real easy
P.K system is better on older versions

So after all this what are the good things about the game...These are not my views of the game as i dont have it, so basicly i want to know what makes it worth buying.

Thanks for the 'doom and gloom'- I'm close to canceling my pre-order now! ;-)
It doesn't sound too good though... :/

More bad news from EA Sports forum member...what the Heck is going on with this game.

Negative
1. When you press X to change the player you control - when you get in the offensive end you never seem to be able get control over the correct player, it always seems like you have to press X a couple of times before you get to control the player you like. (very frustrating)

2. No international tournaments, that's just unforgiveble... I want to be able to play the the euro cup or the world cup.

3. Off-The-Ball-Control - not very good, it would have been better if the offensive AI of ones teammates were better. Getting away from defenders into open space. And meet up passes instead of standing still watching the defender intercept the pass.

4. Carrer mode - having to set up training programs for players is not something I want to spend my time doing? If I wanted that I would buy CM.

5. Replays sucks - they are way too short. They just show the ball being kicked into the goal, you never get to see the beautiful passing play that made the goal happen. (and they don't show near misses)

6. Online play - not very user friendly for user behind firewalls or routers.

7. The computer controlled teams you play against never changes a player during any game (unless there is an injury). NOT VERY REAL, EA!

8. Graphics stutter at times.

9. Starting line-ups not presented before the game. (in a good way)

10. The commentery is ok, but could have been better. And Ally McCoist (co-commentator) sounds like Groundskeeper Willie from the Simpsons and can be hard to tell what the heck he's talkin' about at times. (that's my personal opinion at least)

11. Corners are a bit strange - not very real at all. You choose a type of corner and then the ball comes to one certain spot (marked with a ring), and it comes exactly to this spot every time (not even beckham or any human) would be able to hit a 1m circle every single time. Where are the corners that go to far or short and so on...

12. Free-kicks away from the goal sucks. You just don't have any good indication on where you are aiming.

13. No match facts pop up at half-time or at end of game.

14. There's sometimes a graphical glitch on players backs.

15. Saving games takes way too long time. (Longer than other similar games - that's not from EA).

16. Dribbling - is it even in the game?

17. Players never seems to tire. You never has to change a player because he is too tired, not very real.

They repeat a lot of the list i found before, I waited for this game for ages please some one tell me some of this stuff is not true and what good features the game has.

Or i will buy the game and use it just for the online league im in and as some one before use it the rest of the time as a tea coaster.

Im gonna be playing it on PS2 so i couldnt do that, Plus i work for a software company and i know how it makes them feel if people want to do that with there software.

But i wouldnt blame people if they did do what you suggest as it costs like $30 - $50 for the game and it may not be very good, i dont know.

2 days to release and its so easy to dig up bad stuff about the game.

:f***: This has to be fixed some how, maybe by updates on cd's that ea release or free updates on memory cards, this is BS other wise.

Waste of peoples money, plus my wife will kill me if i play it for 5 mins and hate the game esp after how much it costs.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tellox posted about the x-box version. Disapointed by the second here people.

After the long-anticipated wait for fifa2004, I finally received my copy for the gamecube today. So,with much excitement, I remove fifa2003 from the gamecube, insert fifa2004, and begin playing. One thing I was looking forward to seeing was Robbie Keane's unique face, so I go to start an international cup tournament.

The only problem is, There is no international cup tournament. Theres no world cup, no european cup. No international tournaments at all. The only pre-set way to play as an international team, is through a friendly match. Im sure there'll be a downloadable world cup patch for fifa2004 on the PC, but there sure as hell wont be for any consoles.

So, Admist dissapointment, I start a friendly match between Ireland and Switzerland. The first thing I notice is Robbie Keane's unique face, and how they still have his hair flat. But onwards we go...

First thing I try to do,is use off the ball control, by pressing the Z button, or so the manual told me. But what the manual really should have said is "Hammer on the Z button constantly until off the ball control appears, and then hammer some more until it selects a player". Sometimes by pressing Z once, off the ball appears. Sometimes, by pressing Z once, it switches the player you wish to control with OTB. But the majority of the time, the Z button either does nothing, or makes you start dribbling. By the time you get the player you want to be controlled selected, you'd be tackled, and you'd lose the ball. Oh dear.

Next on the agenda, is the passing system. All your team still do the same old thing, where they stand and stare at the ball while it travels towards them, and the other team are free to intercept. In order to cross correctly from the wing, you have to activate OTB and quickly decide who you want to cross the ball to, and then hold down the X button. Once again, OTB control more often then not, fails, and you end up slamming a ball off into the crowd, forcing a goal kick. Through balls are generally a better idea then passing, but with all passing techniques, you usually pass the ball straight to an enemy player, unless you use OTB control.

Now, Shooting. Fifa tried to emulate ISS/PES's shooting system for fifa2004, which is a generally good idea. But here's the problem, in ISS/PES, you watch the power gauge carefully, and you release the shot button when it gets to the desired amount of power. In Fifa2004, you hold down the B button for more then half a second, and its a full force shot into the distance. Theres an option to decrease the speed of power gauges, but this seems to only take effect for crosses and through balls. Shooting really is a lottery in this game, as its near impossible to stop the gauge where you want it to. Its either barely tap it for a 0-90% full gauge, or press the button for a 100% full gauge. There is a low shot button, which would work as say, a 10% full gauge, keeping the shot firmly on the ground, and relativly slow, but they're just as hard,if not harder to put in the back of the net. A harder scoring system was just what fifa2003 needed, but skill really was removed from shooting in fifa2004. Long shots also tend to go in much more often then close-range.

One thing I cant complain about, is the quality and selection of the stadiums. One thing I can complain about, is how the bigger of them cause a horrible stutter motion on the gamecube, which rises to an unplayable level at times. More then once I've been scored on during a 2/3fps slump. And there really is nothing more annoying then conceeding in the 90th minute in the final of the FA cup against Manchester United, due to a poor fps.

So I decided to bring some friends around, and try out a league between us, to see if that brings any life to this title. But yet again, somethings missing. And thats the custom league. Infact, its impossible to play any league, as more then 1 team. Yet another nail in the coffin for Fifa2004.

Now, on to Fifa's player stats,or as I like to call, the popularity contest. Beckham gets 94/100, John O'Shea gets 76/100. Ronaldo gets 98/100 (nuff said), And kewell gets 90/100 while Duff gets 75/100. Di Canio doesnt even make an appearance in the game. And heres the killer - Van Nistelrooy gets 97/100. Sure, Ronaldo,Van Nistelrooy and Beckham are great players, but there is absolutly no way they're even remotely deserving of these stats. Another let-down...

Graphicly, the game is outstanding. Theres many unique faces, and just about everything looks beautiful. The AI is improved over last years, but isnt really anything to write home about.

Overall: 26/100
The concept was flawless. The execution was terrible.
I've never played PES in my life, but something tells me its time to give it a go.:f***:

hehe it funny the wife will kill you if you play the game for 5 min and end up not linking it :D

But mate, please try both games and then decide ;) But PES 3 is delicious :p The CPU will play according on the team that your facing. For example the Italians defend more and very hard to score, Germans are physically strong and will play long balls.... and so onBrazilians with short passes....
