why did Japan wear blue shorts?

isnt it their traditional colors to wear a blue top and white shorts?

that way Brazil would have worn their traditional colors as well.

Heh, I guess no one said they did overthrow governments, but still... non-world champs may or may not. World Champs don't.

About him being fat, yeah it's been settled 2 days ago. Yes, he is fat. "his weight is adequate for his fat percentage" = his fat percentage is too high for a football player. heh, just kidding. But you know it's true. Not that it's a problem. He gets the job done, and you've seen that vs. Japan.

yeah, i got it. i was supporting japan also. i'm still pissed off due to the match against australia (pissed off with the japs players, not the aussies, of course -- despite the fact i hate kewell).

but, unlike you, i support the brazilian nt. and very unlike you, i (almost) always support any team against england. don't ask me why, i really don't know.

some hours before this match against brazil i finished the nippon challenge on winning eleven 10 (six stars; final 2-1 against italy; 1st goal by italy). oh, well
That's the beauty about the forum eh? different opinions and all that. Actually, it's not that much different, since if you change England to Brazil in your post, that's actually pretty accurate for me ;)

the kits were fifa's decision. stupid as it sounds, i think they do that just for diversity purposes.

italy, for example, wore blue shirts and shorts in their 3 matches.

by the way, no one on brazil's starting eleven were wearing black shoes...

Bring on the Ghanaians then. Dida will have nightmares about 1996. (Yeah, I know it was Nigeria back then... but still... we always had trouble with african sides, at least in the olympics...)

true but dida was not brasils #1; brasil never struggled vs african teams in the WC; its true brasil has trouble with african teams in olympics, but every team in the world do because they are too old and there is no REAL proof of age for most of them, look at how many U-20, U-17, or whatever UNDER WC titles africa has versus the regular WC. in the end it just hurts africa :jambo:

Yes, he was:

31.07.1996 – SANFORD – JOGOS OLIMPICOS DE ATLANTA
BRASIL 3 X NIGERIA 3 – TEMPO REGULAMENTAR
Flavio Conceição 2. Bebeto
BRASIL 0 X NIGERIA 1 – PRORROGAÇÃO
Dida. Zé Maria. Ronaldo. Aldair e Roberto Carlos. Zé Elias. Flavio Conceição. Amaral e Juninho (Rivaldo). Bebeto e Ronaldinho (Savio)
Tecnico: Zagalo

Yeah, Emmer pointed that out. but then again, Brazil never faced them in a play off, and Ghana does look like a dangerous side to play against. Not only are they physically strong, they're also fast as hell. Shame they can't finish well though.

As for them having loads of youth titles. Well... you could be right, and you probably are. I have no proofs, so I won't go into that.

i left myself open for the dida thing i didnt explain it right, i knew he was the starter for the olympics i meant the main selecao, that experience is inpartewhy he is now the 1# for the selecao

stupid fun facts,
http://globoesporte.globo.com/ESP/Noticia/0,,AA1222791-4482,00.html

shows the number of fouls called against 32 WC teams during group stage with brasil with the least (20 vs croatia, 9 vs australia, 5 vs japan) 35 about 11.6 a game improving every game and ghana with the most 76 dont know if im happy(free kicks around the area) or :( (please dont hurt no one), found it surprising italy as the #2 with 38.

http://globoesporte.globo.com/ESP/Noticia/0,,AA1222717-4482,00.html

lucio and juan combo only have 4 fouls called against them in 270minutes played, thats better than all 16 teams that got to the next round. all 4 fouls belong to juan(3 croatia,1 australia) and lucio who the brasilian fans used think he lacked technic (not me, infact i think hes under rated) is now being called gamarra who in 98 went through the WC without a foul called.

Sorry, you got me confused there. I thought we were talking about the olympic side, at least that's why I mentioned Dida has nightmares about Nigeria. Still, Dida was the starting GK for the 1996 Gold Cup too (Jan-96), and several friendlies before the olympics. After the Olympics though, he had to wait until the Confed Cup in 1997 (Dec-97) to get his place back.

Taffarel's first match after the olympics was on April 4th, 1997, a 4-0 win against Chile on a friendly. Before the olympics, he played on July 23rd, 1995 Brazil 1-1 Uruguay, Copa America (Uruguay won 5-3 on penalties).

In between, the GK spot was taken by Dida (then at Cruzeiro), mostly when only Brazil-based players were used, Carlos Germano (Vasco) and Zetti (Sao Paulo) when the top players from Europe also played.

Taffarel then went on to play the 1998 Gold Cup and the World Cup.

that article helps make my point, just because you start a game doesnt mean your the 1# option for that position, so your saying rivaldo, ronaldo, r.carlos...........where not the 1# option for their positon in 96'????
zagallo was simply trying out new players for the WC in france, and did find denilson, ze roberto.......brasil never cared for the gold cup, last time brasil went to the gold cup they sent the sub-23 squad and were unlucky not to win so just because those sub-23 players started they were the 13 option at the time??? No, they were not
