Can we get back to (or start) talking about the U-20 Team?! I watched that game the other day and there were some really good players out there. I think Adu, Spector, and Wynne (HE LOOKED GOOD!!!!! just like Sanneh at WC 2002) are guaranteed to be national team regulars in the future.

The best part of that game for me was one of two things...

1) The break out of Marcel Wynne. This kid was just amazing and I think he'll be wooed by a few european clubs if he continues to perform at the level he showed against Argentina; at the least he can probably start for any MLS team at right back RIGHT NOW.

2) Freddy Adu and his insane tricks. I think he gets carried away every now and then when he dribbles into double and triple teams and I don't think I've ever seen anyone get knocked around quite as much as Freddy, but he was impressive. My favorite part was when Adu was about to take a free kick and the announcer says "the referee having a few words with Freddy Adu, probably wondering how he does it" That was great.

Good game, and I'll definitely be hoping Fox Soccer continues to broadcast the Team USA games from this tournament. Gaven was pretty bad though, but he's comming off a major injury right?

It's Marvell Wynne. Someone at FSW did a real bang-up job on that one.

He's a really good athlete. Strong defensively as well. He could improve on some of his skills though. But yeah, he's definitely one of the guys to watch for the future.

I doubt he could beat out Chris Albright or even *gasp* Frankie Hejduk, but other than that he could probably challenge any MLS right back.

He was disappointing but he wasn't bad... improved in the second half.

Nah, as far as I know he's coming off a minor arm injury.

Here's my grades for the US - Argentina game:

Westberg - 5.5 (reminded me of that time I played goalie in an intramural game)

Freeman - 8 (solid defensively, did not get too involved in the attack)
Spector - 8 (heal fast, we need you)
Ianni - 7.5 (did pretty well)
Wynne - 8.5 (impressive game)

Dalby - 7 (some good passes, some bad passes but his strong physical presence in midfield is a great asset)
Feilhaber - 8.5 (great game on both sides of the ball, showed why Sigi has faith in him)
Adu - 8 (frustrated Argentina all game long)
Gaven - 7 (started off poorly but eventually was able to get in the game)

Ochoa - 7 (not a bad game but did not get any scoring opportunities)
Barrett - 8.5 (my vote for man of the match, I don't call him the American Wayne Rooney for nothing)

Subs:

Sturgis - 7 (comes in in the 40th minute as a central defender and his first touch on the ball is a 360 spin move in his own half of the field, with 2-3 Argentinian players closing him down. He's certainly confident.)

I agree. Wynne was a nice surprise. Hope he keeps it up. Adu, what is left to say, the kid is class, he was easily the most skilled player on the ball out there. Tricks are nice but I like most how involved he was in defence too. He's becoming a very well rounded player.

Oh yes, Feilhaber was good as well. Sturgis wasen't too bad of a replacement for Spector either.

Actually I'd say the most skilled player on the ball was Messi (or whoever that Argie on Barcelona is), but the Argentinian kid is probably a -50 on a scale of 1 to 10 of attractiveness. GOD what an ugly bastard, I'd say uglier than Ronaldinho, but not quite on the Luke Chadwick level of uglyness.

A question mark hangs over the involvement of the Manchester United defender Jonathan Spector. "He is still suffering from his injury and we will have to see how the treatment goes," explained Schmid. "His chances of making the game are 50:50."

If Spector can't play I think we'll be lucky to get a draw. The Germans have no doubt studied the weakness in defence and will be pressuring like crazy. I think the only way we could win would be a explosion in offence. I hope the defence is well rested and ready to put in some hard work. This is going to be a very tough game. :rockman:

I think the US senior team is vastly overrated. By the way, does anyone know how concacaf managed to get so many World Cup Spots this year?

Starting XI
I just dont get it.

We get a quarterfinal appearance at the last World Cup. Were doing great in qualifying. But we still get shit on by everybody. We get no respect. And then we get called overrated.

We dont even rate ourselves highly, how the **** are we overrated?
