I do think getting past South Korea would have been a problem, we got dcked against Germany anyway so it would have been something we are going to have to deal with in WC 06

We win 3-2 I really like the way that we are playing right now, if we keep this up we have a real shot at doing something special, anyway Donavan scored his first WC qualifing goal and Beasley, Reyna, and the whole midfield looks wonderful, and we are actullay putting pressure on people, I have been asking for this for the last 3 years.

Tim Howard will start in goal against Poland on July 11

Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard will marshal the U.S. defense, the 2004 PFA Goalkeeper of the Year in England making his second appearance with the national team this year after posting a shutout in the victory against Honduras on June 2 in Foxboro. Backing up Howard is another familiar face to the Fire faithful, former Chicago ‘keeper Zach Thornton. The former MLS Goalkeeper of the Year returns to Chicagoland after a stint with Benfica of Portugal.

In their final match before starting the semifinal round of FIFA World Cup Qualifying, the U.S. Men’s National Team battled Poland to a 1-1 draw this evening in front of 39,529 fans at Soldier Field in Chicago. After a tame first half, the match opened up in the final 45 minutes and Carlos Bocanegra nodded home the equalizer two minutes from the final whistle to increase the USA’s undefeated streak to six games (a 5-0-1 record). The U.S. was the dominant team on the night, keeping most of the possession, but it appeared Poland might sneak out with a victory when Piotr Wlodarczyk knocked in a loose ball after misplayed clearances by Carlos Bocanegra and Tim Howard in the six-yard box in the 76th minute.

Beasley, Convey Make Jump to European Teams

- U.S. Men’s National Team teammates DaMarcus Beasley and Bobby Convey have both agreed to contracts with teams over in Europe and will be leaving MLS and begin training with their new clubs as they get ready for the upcoming season

Chicago Fire’s Beasley will be taking his talents to PSV Eindhoven of the Dutch First Division, while D.C. United’s Convey is headed to Reading Football Club of the English First Division.

Beasley and Convey both become mainstays on the U.S. MNT while still early in their soccer careers (Beasley is 22, Convey is 21), allowing them to attract attention from numerous clubs overseas.

The speedy footwork of Beasley propelled the Fort Wayne, Ind., native onto the U.S. MNT World Cup roster in 2002 after snagging his first cap in a 2-1 win over China on Jan. 27, 2001. During the World Cup, Beasley played in three matches as the U.S. made history by reaching the quarterfinals in Korea/Japan. Overall, Beasley has appeared in 36 matches for the U.S. MNT, scoring eight goals (four of which have come this year as he leads the team in goals scored).

Convey, who at the time became the youngest player drafted by MLS when he was chosen in 2000, has 26 caps with the U.S. MNT, getting his first appearance at the age of 17 against Mexico on Oct. 25, 2000 (he is the third youngest in MNT history to get a cap). Since then, Convey captained the Under-20 MNT during their remarkable quarterfinal run in the FIFA World Youth Championship and was part of the Under-23 Olympic Qualifying Team, all while slowly gaining more and more appearances with the full team.

Both Beasley (2001) and Convey (2002) won U.S. Soccer’s Chevrolet Youth Male Athlete of the Year award.

It seems to me that I'm the only US fan on here I don't see you putting any updates about OUR national team, so if you are not part of the answer then you are part of the problem
