Uruguay will have another go and more luck in 2009 with the Solomons.. :))

Ow.... you're betting on us finishing fifth again? That's harsh... :(

In any case, I think there'll be modifications in the Qualifiers for the next World Cup. I think it's likely the fifth CONMEBOL team will start playing CONCACAF.

And that's if we manage to keep that fifth spot after this elimination.

I can only hope that your fellow Uruguayan posters can accept defeat as graciously....we'll see

I don't see why not... the general consensus here is that, after the massive amount of mistakes we made in our WCQ (consecutive defeats at home to Venezuela and Peru, and a historic 0-5 defeat to Colombia), we were lucky to get this far. Obviously we would have liked to Qualify, but...

The outbursts from South Americans have been due to baiting from a certain Australian (we all know who I speak of) via derogatory posts of not only Uruguay but South America as a whole.

Sh*t!!!

The world cup will miss the best generation of uruguayan players...

Some of the best wont be in another WC... :boohoo:

We wont get to see the Garra Charrua in Germany...and the class of Recoba, Forlan, Diogo.. :kader:

The Rio de la Plata is sad today...our brothers are out... :nape:

Kinda sad, but i'm happy for Australia. Plus Uruguay is kinda a bunch of good individualities that cant play as a team, with a moron as the coach.

just got back from watching the game in the city

it was amazing

hiddink has transformed the team, whatever he's being payed, double it

uruguay were out classed

recoba can shove his divinity up his ass

nice to see most of sth america was supporting australia, saw signs saying "Brazil is with you Socceroos" etc

i can't believe it the atmosphere, thousands of people were just shouting "Schwarzer" over and over

i can't really pick a player who played badly except viduka, but he is heavily marked and gives space to others, as well as played a huge role in the first leg

Yossarian, i want a good heartfelt post about King Recoba missing the World Cup. Should be a classic, hot delicious :fool:

hurhurhur. Sorry, bro, but I've got nothing really. Firstly, I didn't see either of the games. Secondly and most importantly, I've got absolutely no connections with either nation other than the one Inter Milaner who I love about as much as heterosexually possible without setting off the gay detectors. There is really no emotional attachment/deep dislike for either team.

That's my one lamentation about internationals. My absolute disconnect from my home country (America) who've I long ignored and devalued as a youngster watching the World Cup, you know? I didn't support them through the hard times, choosing instead to cheer for smaller South American teams or some minnow from Europe or Africa for ****s and giggles. So I'm at a complete limbo for the most part in internationals supporting an individual here, an individual there and can't force or fake the vested interest needed to really get all amped about the tourney like some of my friends. I just pray for an entertaining game and support countries who've got players from the clubs I support when they're in action......albeit half-heartedly.

BTW, bro. Do you remember when I first started here and I'd latched on to you like an infant on a tit and followed you into every thread you'd posted in professing my love to you, Vinnie? And you'd always cold-heartedly dismiss me off like a whore with a bunch of rotten apples stuffed up her crotch?

Great times, bro, great times.........hurhurhur.

Congrats to the Aussies, it will be nice to see them there... a World Cup with all the confeds represented.
Tough on Uruguay, as they have some good individuals, though after their qualifying campaign it's hard to say they have a right to be there...
As for Australia not making the second stage, I'm pretty sure they can do it... obviously it depends on the opposition, but they have shown they can have good matches.

Hmmm... I think an Australianism can sum up my reply:

SUFFER IN YOUR JOCKS! Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Don't have to see you dirty divers ever again coz we get to go thru Asia for the next World Cup. I have nothing against South America as a whole. No other country are dirty like Uruguay, your coach is a disgrace.

BUT WHO GIVES A s h i t BOUT SOME LOSER COUNTRY! WE ARE GOING TO GERMANY!

WE ARE GOING TO GERMANY! WATCH OUT WORLD, AUSSIES ARE IN!

FOR YOU JOHNNY!
