The reason Maniche is given the nod ahead of Deco is because he shined at EURO 2004 and his performance over 3 to 5 games was very memorable. Matter of perception of course because Deco carried Porto for more than a year.

Deco is having an amazing season at Barcelona, and i think he is just as important to the team as Xavi. Xavi hasnt been playing good lately.

All the people who watch the English league will say Cole is better, everyone who watches the Italian league will say Zambrotta is better. I watch both leagues on a consistent basis, and Zambrotta is a superior player. I can tell youve never really seen him play. Why do you think he was named to Euro 2004 all star team, even though Italy didnt reach next phase?

Kaká isnt on the list and C. Ronaldo is. That's what a few good games for Man Utd and a decent performance in Euro does to you. Kaká won the Serie A with Milan being one of the best players on the team and starting all games (or almost all games) when available and he still didnt make it.

Not to mention C. Ronaldo this season is a ghost.

Like Vince said, Buffon gets fewer opportunities to shine with Cannavaro, Thuram and Zambrotta in front of him. Casillas gets a lot of action due to the stupid ass Salgados in front of him.

See the Buffon compilation thats floating around... simply astounding.

Not only is Buffon a better shotstopper than Iker but hes also a much more intimidating presence in front of goal than Casillas. Thats a very important quality for a goalkeeper to possess. Just ask Kahn.

Its just that you Madrid fans think that Casillas is better because hes saved your asses on so many occasions. Buffon has done so as well but he doesn't get as many chances.

To say Dida is better than Casillas is simply laughable.

You can't tell me Buffon is a better shot-stopper than Iker. No Way.

Buffon allows many rebounds.


I do think that Buffon is a better penalty stopper and I'll agree that he has a more intimidating presence. But better Goalkeeper, NO.

They were in different categories. The RM selection was very poor (Figo, Seedorf, Ronaldo). Kaka was in same category as Ronaldinho, so thats why.
