Do you think this UEFA Europa League is more exciting with new format?

Yeah, I thought the odd group stage matches (not both had home and away matches) were bad. There is also more money pumped into it which makes it more competitive.

The format is way better, but the name... I refuse to call it like that, it's still UEFA Cup to me.

I think only cup winners of each country should be allowed to play in this tournament, that's the only way that you can make this one special and add more value to domestic cups.

There was a cup like this, but UEFA decided that they don't need it anymore sometime in the late 90's, I remember a Stuttgart - Chelsea final.

yeah at that time they had three cups, Champions League, Uefa Cup and Cup Winners Cup.

Few teams won all three tournaments, I think Barca's one of them.


Cup Winners Cup can be far more interesting than this Uefa ...

Yeah Cup Winners Cup, didn't remember the English name (pretty sad actually as I just had to tranlate the German name, ah well...).
I don't think Barca has won the UEFA cup yet, do they? I know that Bayern, Ajax and Juve have won all three, not sure about Barca.

The tournament isn't going to change just because followers of the big European teams don't care. Most of the teams involved in the Europa League are thrilled to be there and don't care if you're interested.
