How can a player as good as Deco be so bad at shooting?? He can put a 30 yard pass on a player's foot but he can't hit an open net? Shoulda been 0-1.

we have been atrociously bad and very very lucky.

if we continue to play like this in the 2nd half im 100% sure we will lose this game.

Barcelona could be up 4 - 0 by now. The defence is having a stinker and Moretto :|:|:|:|:|:|

Yea Moretto has been crap and extremely lucky so far. Van Bommel screwed 2 good chances, Eto'o and Deco too :nape:

Good match so far, but Barca really need to finish those chances, otherwise they'll get a nice surprise.

Barcelona's finishing has been scandalous, they should be like 3-0 up by now.
They seem to only need to speed up a little to create clear goal chances, it's incredible :|

Benfica has about 5 shots already, but all from outside the area.
They'd better start closing up on the goal or else I don't see them scoring...

And Moretto is one huge mess of a keeper, he f'cked up too many times for 45 minutes of play.
Barça's shots have gone towards him or else he'd have conceeded a few by now.


Hoping for a better second half!

I thought people was exaggerating when they talked about Moretto haha :D


I hope the second half is as good as the first half but Barça have to finish the chances.

I have to say that it's not a pretty match to watch especially if you don't like players diving. Players on both teams are going down too easily. Benfica are playin with all their men behind the ball and trying to counter-attack they've had a couple of decent 'approaches' and some nice shots from outside the area but Valdes has been solid a couple of times and the others the ball went out close.

On our side we've had at least 4 or 5 very clear chances to score and we should've taken at least two. Deco and Eto'o both missing sitters and Iniesta and Van Bommel with poor shots after some nice plays. We really need to score or we might regret missing all those chances.

well it really helps being a rich club against a poorer club in Europe.

It really doesn't get more blatant and obvious than that handball. Of course the ref and the linesman saw it, they just choose not to signal the penalty.

Anyway after a very very bad first half, we were better than Barcelona in the 2nd half, and end up deserving the draw.

Miccoli changed the game. :rockman:

Indeed. Benfica was better in the 2nd half than on the 1st. Miccoli was very important, he has to start on the other leg match. Moretto did some very nice saves as well, I don't understand he can do the best and the worst...

I can't believe this was 0-0. Barça wasted countless chances. Frustrating.

Big Iniesta.

Deco wanted to be the star, it was annoying.

It's not a bad result but without away goals.. dangerous.

he was only a few meters away from motta, and motta did try to get his arm away. it's not like it was kicked from far out and motta did nothing to avoid the ball hitting his arm. i think he did enough to avoid being called handball.

should have scored, should have scored. at least we didn't concede. with a stronger defence and home crowd behind us in 8 days time, we should be able to make it through.

hahahaah how biased can you be man?

it doesn't even matter if it's intentional or not (remember Paulo Ferreira's penalty in the chelsea-barça last year), which it was, it was not a natural arm movement and it interfered with the course of play so it's a penalty.

Moretto needs to be benched... Quim is much more mature and reliable... but Mr. Koeman is too retarded to see that... oh well... what can we do... :rolleyes:

Second Half - The two teams deserved at least 2 goals

Miccoli and Simao were quite impressive to watch. The hustle of Benfica to steam forward over and over the second half put Chelsea's second leg in the nou camp to shame

Now we just sit back and wait for what TheMind has to offer us
