UCL 1/4 2nd Leg: FC Barcelona x SL Benfica [P+R]

INFESTA

Official
This one is more hard to predict than some folks here and in Barcelona might think. I am rooting for Benfica on this one, but I feel Barça will advance to the semis, although it will be close.

Barça 2-1 Benfica (Extra-time)

Good luck Benfica! :)

2 - nil for Barça
sorry Benfica fans, but i don't see your team winning this one, i don't think Braça will blow away so many goal chances as they did in the first match and against Real Madrid last weekend

One thing is for sure: the pressure is all on Barça. See this:

If Barcelona wins, it'll be something people would face naturally. Benfica not passing to most (ignorant and media-follower) people would be the natural course of the Champions League.

The real upset would be Benfica knocking out Barcelona. Maybe Man United and Liverpool weren't enough to warn the always-cocky Spanish people of Portugal's true potential. And I wish that from the very bottom of my heart. Not only because I'm 200% Benfiquista, but I'm also Portuguese, and they insist in making this personal. Just like in Euro 2004 ;) Too bad there's no Nuno Gomes. We have to stick with Miccoli... bollocks... (yes I'm being sarcastic).

1-0 Eto'o in the first half
1-1 Miccoli in the dying minutes of the game

Deeply painful for them, tasteful for us. Like always :p

Haha, neither ManU nor Liverpool are nearly as good as Barcelona. The only way Barca will lose is if they completely choke or if the game gets thrown out of whack by red cards or whatnot. I can tell you that they will not play lazily. They know they have to prove themselves because they've had trouble scoring in their past couple of matches when they could have scored many.

Sevillista: Barcelona isn't what most people think they are. Football isn't played with names, and Benfica has shown that already this season. And if you think Barcelona would only lose is if they get red-carded or choke, you haven't seen Benfica play this season in the CL more than the highlights of a few matches. Sorry but you can't be talking with full knowledge to say such thing.

Barcelona are favourites and are a better team and have a better squad. It's up to them to take the game. But Benfica is also good, and a team doesn't lose just because the other chokes. A team can just be better than another.

Haha, don't tell me what Barcelona is and what it isn't. I've seen more of their matches this year than of any other team. If anything Barcelona proves that football isn't played with names, that's why they're so much better than Real Madrid. It's the team's system that makes them so successful and all of their "big names" made names for themselves at Barca. The only exception that I can think of is Larsson.

I have seen three of Benfica's CL matches and the only one that really impressed me was their win against ManU. I was really pulling for them too, mainly because their passing that match was class. Still, I haven't seen anything that makes me think they could play better than Barca. I think the best indication was last match when Barcelona were clearly the better team, and I don't see how those roles are going to reverse going into the Camp Nou.

Did you see anything in real madrid that made you think they can play better than barca? Because I believe they drew 1-1 with them, with 10 men, and that would be a good result for benfica.... Point is, you dont know what is gonna happen, a lot of people thought benfica was a joke vs man u, then vs liverpool, but they won, and I have a lot of respect for them to be honest because they are always being shot down in the CL as the easy team to get.

I think (hope) the score will be 0-1. Barca to attack a lot and hold lots of possesion but still not score. Benfica to score on the counter or a Simao freekick...I can only hope, GO Benfica :rockman:

Maybe you're too arrogant and you can't accept the truth. The truth is Barça are clear favorites against Benfica at Camp Nou. Barça not going through would be an upset since Barça are favorites, not only to beat benfica but to win the whole thing, alongside Juve(well, now it's Arsenal), Lyon and Milan. I think here people respect Benfica. Benfica do have a chance, but we all think that Barça are much better team and I don't think that's being an ignorant or arrogant.

Dream Team, he clearly accepted the truth in this post, like every fan on the world have to accept, Barça is better, end of, no one said we were better, he's just saying we can make it, because, sometimes, worst teams make better games, that's all, it's Champions League and anything can happen, also... It's not only luck that can make us win, and that's the point of Eminem, we did not make this campaign so far only with luck, and people can't see that, we are clearly underrated, just because we are a Portuguese team and nobody except ourselves and the team that plays against us watch an entire game of Benfica, only the highlights.

We are a very good team that can play a very good football (When Koeman wants... :S) ... And the games against Villareal (away), Man United both, Lille (home), Liverpool both are a clearly proof of that. Also, we were probably better than Barça at the second half on Da Luz, but that's arguable...

I know people are being respectful to us, but in your minds, you all believe you have passed already, don't be so shure of that...

Oh, and...

Haha, funny to see so many people picking Benfica. I think their only chance is if Barca screw up 20 shots on goal like they did their past couple of games. I predict a blowout, 4-1.

That's arrogance...

Deco said something like: Nuno Gomes is the only one in Benfica who has that great goalscoring hability...

Well... Deco should shut his mouth sometimes... Nuno Gomes can't score in the Champions League, even when the goal looks like an easy one! He just lacks the class for that... he can only score in the SuperLiga, and i reckon he should have 25 goals by now, and not 15 (he just misses too much, and the job he performs behind the strikers: Karagounis can do better also!)! He's sooo overrated, and for some strange reason Koeman seems to be in luv with him, just like Scholari with Ricardo...

The fact is that Miccoli is much better than Nuno Gomes at scoring goals... so Deco really have no idea what he's talking about... Miccoli just have been plagued with so many injuries lately... i hope he is fully recovered this time... with him playing regularly during the season, we would prolly be SuperLiga champions by now.... :jambo:

Haha, actually I did. I saw thirty-some shots on goal to their opponent's 3. Unfortunately, they choked and didn't put any of those in the net. Nobody in their right mind would say that Barca didn't outplay Madrid. Barca will outplay Benfica, guaranteed. What I am not guaranteeing is that it will translate into a winning result. This is football and the best team doesn't always win.

if we lose all i will say is that we should have put benfica away in the first game, we had enbough chances to finish the whole tie, and we should have, if we are a championship winning team, thats what we need to do, teams that win by a small margin dont win the next season and if thats so i dont want us to win, i want us to remain winning for seasons to come

Barca is the best club team in the world. No debate.

It will be very difficult for us today, unfortunatly we don't have the luxury of being able to buy players like Ronaldinho, Eto'o, etc.. but we have every right to fight for the result. I don't make predictions, we'll have to see what unfolds on the field.
