Ditto. I had no high expectations for the Dragon Age series and fell in love with it, and now I'm hyping Skyrim as ****, hopefully it will live up to it :D

Looks visually stunning, but never been into RPGs; too slow pace for my taste. Unless it's more of a sandbox type of game.

Some RPGs, and other genres in general, gets boring if developers made it that you must travel from one distance to another 100 times just to get a hot dog. That "traveling" was killing me in Borderlands. Go there, then there, and just to shot few hits in Skags! Mafia II same story!

EDIT:
So, L.A. Noire really hit the PC's. Well, Rockstar thats good move from you! Game looked great on consoles, especially that new "32-cam face recording" technology.

Playing online on FIFA is pretty fun, and I've gotten pretty good at it. But it seems that if you're on a slide, EA will make sure you slide hard. I'm not saying this is some conspiracy theory... it probably is all in my head as well as terribly bad luck, but whatever.

So here I am working myself up through the divisions. I have gone up every season until I got to the second season. There, I did enough to not get relegated, and the opposition was getting much tougher but I still managed. My team of choice is mostly Athletic Bilbao although I did try Real Sociedad and Espanyol in the earlier stages.

The second season in the second division is when things start to get interesting. I start out horribly. I lost two games in a row, and drew two as well. Both draws were ******* terrible; they almost felt like losses. I eventually got over it and came back to it another day. This time, I went into salvaging mode. I won 3 in a row. Normally you get 10 games per division. You need a total of 10 points to stay in your current division (after the 3rd division the relegation zone is set at 12 points), and then you need 16 to go to the next division (18 in the 3rd division and up).

So as I said, I win my next three games. I'm at 11 points with 3 games to go. All I need is one point and I'm safe, so it's all good, right? Wrong. I lose the next game to a good player. He was Aston Villa and he got me pretty good. I had no problem with that one.

The other game was a snow game. It was so ******* laggy I could barely control my players, but I managed to score. I figured that was enough because that guy was extremely predictable. Well, as I said, it was lagging really bad, so at one point, the guy received the ball with three of my guys defending him. The game glitches and all of a sudden the guy skips frames and is completely unaccounted for and a clear path at goal. He scores obviously.

I tried to ignore the lag, but once again, similar situation. This time the guy crashes into my players, frames skip, one guy falls down, he's ahead, I manage to send my GK but it was too late. After that I just watched him pass and pass and I was too laggy to do much about it it.

10th and last game, I need just 1 point and I'm through. I get into the game against Juventus. I score early and then I'm dominating. I score again, and I'm thinking this is a cake walk. Nearing the 80th minute, the game locks up as I'm about to shoot... it skips a few frames, I score, and the game freezes again. It says I've been disconnected. I check my internet on the computer and it's working just fine. So I'm given a loss after being up 3-0.

I'm pissed but I get over it. After this, I'm relegated for the first time, but I just was fine with it. So in third division once again I'm on a terrible slide, I lose games left and right. I drew two I dominated but couldn't get the lead or gave away dumb goals. I'm 0-2-4 after six games. So I need to win all my games or win three and draw one.

I win my first three and all I need is a draw. I play against America, and they score early. After a bit of a struggle I get past him and tie it up. At this point I'm playing pretty conservatively, but this guy has an offside trap. I beat it and take the lead. He goes crazy pushing guys forward, I counter him again and score. I win 3-1. I'm safe, right? When it goes to the points screen I'm at zero and it says EA servers are currently down and we couldn't credit your game. WTF, EA?!

Yeah, I had server problems for more than a month and they offered me 15% coupons on other games to compensate. As if I'm buying another game from a company who can't pull one of its biggest releases the right way.

F**k...! Why my GPU decided to go to hell now, about week ago, in November, month when all fancy games have release date... :-( Well, I watched reviews and some walkthroughs and it really seems amazing. Plus, IGN gave it 9.5/10 verdict, which is so rare for them.

With all the talks of FIFA 12, and the SG Draft going on, I decided to dig up FIFA 11. I remember in some old NHL game, that they had a fantasy draft mode, where you could pick a team, and fill it with players, the same way as in the SG draft. This gave me the idea to build one fantasy team. I chose Birmingham, and traded in some of my favorite non-Barca players, trying not to just pick the elite. Starting XI:

------------------Sczcesny-----------------
Moisander--Vermaelen--Vertonghen--Coentrao
------------------Yaya Toure---------------
-------------Valero-----------Silva----------
Ronaldinho----------Suarez--------dos Santos

Just basically having fun with it.

You think it's worth getting FIFA 12? I've had a history of getting a new FIFA, playing it for a couple months, and getting tired of it before really making any proper progress in manager mode.

Honestly unless you get into Manager Mode or play online, it gets old quickly. I exclusively play online now because once you get good at playing other humans, playing the computer is boooooring. But online is a blast, issues not withstanding. So if you plan to play for offline purposes, you should probably stick to last year's version.

I have last year's FM. Was into it for a while, but again, lost interest. We did the SG FM team. I played a couple of seasons of that.

You're not alone man. I got promoted to Div6 in Head-to-Head Seasons right away, then my first season in it, I won my first 4 games and tied 1. I needed 1 win from the last 5 to get promoted. I lost 4 and tied 1. No idea how, I would outplay the opponent every game yet they would score ridiculously stupid goals. Frustrating, I was so rattled I got stuck in Div6 for another 2 seasons before finally getting promoted.

As for your last paragraph, I entered one of those online cup thingies, made it to the finals fairly easily. Once there, about 20th minute and still 0-0, I get disconnected from EA's servers (not PSN, mind you... so not a problem with my connection or anything). I check back and was credited with a 3-0 loss. EA's online play is ridiculously bad, I didn't play for a good month after that.

Exactly. I get booted off EA's server, never PSN. The crazy thing is that on last year's Fifa I had close to 300 games and 0 DNC, so I guess their servers are getting worse every year.

Problems aside, the gaming industry is absolutely rocking. It is more and more comparing itself and even surpassing the movie industry. Movies are getting more and more unoriginal, and while game series still exist, each time there is a new iteration of series like Mario, Zelda or Final Fantasy (series that have more iterations than those long movie series) you just know it's going to be good, and it generally is. Even sports games that come out every year get better (you can argue CM01-02 was the best or PES6 rocked, but the fact that one considers new ones to be worse is generally due to some bugs or whatever).

Shooters are better than ever, RPGs are insane, action-adventure, sports, even the new motion-driven ones, all of them are getting better and better. Only this year we had releases like Little Big Planet 2, Killzone 3, Dragon Age II, Portal 2, AC: Brotherhood, Gears of War 3, L.A. Noire, Deus Ex: HR, Arkham City, Battlefield3/CoD:MW3, Uncharted 3, ES: Skyrim, Minecraft, NFS: The Run... And until the end of the year there's still AC:Revelations and The Old Republic coming out.

And while most of them have a "2", or "3" in them, they're not necessarily sequels. Even the installments that are sequels are usually entirely new games that just bear the name of the series.

And with the prospect of 2012 bringing us the likes of FFXIII-2, Diablo III, Max Payne 3, Hale 4, GTA V, Tomb Raider it's only bound to get better.

And I'm not even mentioning the likes of The Sims, WoW, and other series who still sell like craaazy.

Nintendo keep breaking-through technology like butter with their Wii motion controls, glassless 3D handheld, upcoming Wii-U and their Mario/Zelda installments.

Sony and Microsoft keep battling it up in other fronts, whilst keeping an eye out for the Nintendo inventions.

Companies like EA, Rockstar, Valve, SEGA, Square Enix, Bioware, Naughty Dog, Blizzard, I could go on and on. They all keep going at it, apparently doing what almost all other industries are failing to do these days: profit, while still making us buyers happy.

The emergence of browser-base games as in Facebook has helped lift the industry as well, with more branches of the market opening up, people who didn't play before becoming addicted to the likes of Farmville and its mates.

You can't help wonder what's next, really.

Won the Intercontinental cup on FIFA online. (H)

It was a breeze except the last game. Really that's the reason I'm even proud of this. I beat Colombia soundly 4-1 in the quarters. In the semis I beat a gay ass dude playing with Sao Paulo. He scored first and then began passing back to his players and just wasting time. I had to turn hyper aggressive and got a quick score. Then when it looked like extra time was coming, I scored again.

In the finals, I contemplated playing with a 5 star team because I knew I was going to encounter some loser with a 5 star team, but decided to keep my good streak going with the same team. I'm really taking a liking to Athletic Bilbao. They have a solid defense, very good holding mid, which aside from the striker it's probably the most vital position in Fifa with Javi Martinez. A pacy left winger in Muniain. His finishing is terrible, but I've managed after getting used to it. Then Llorente. Poacher extraordinaire.

Anyway, sure enough, I drew someone using Real Madrid. I felt like I was going to end up kicking myself for not choosing a stronger team, but just played through it. I set my setting to defensive and put high pressure. I dominated the game from the get go and scored quickly. After that I mostly played counter. I scored again in the second half on a beautiful counter finished off by a strong Llorente header.

Everything was going great until that dude scored in about the '82 minute. After that I had to deal with a crazy attack. I'm not sure if it was me getting a tad nervous or him turning more desperate, but I could feel the pressure. He ended getting me to a corner and it was cleared off the line, but landed right to Xabi Alonso. He blasted that ****, but hit the post. I cleared it like a maniac, and the whistle blew. Very satisfying in a very nerdy way. (H)

Yeah Fili, game industry is doing really well. Not as good as the auto industry (ANY new car you buy today is fantastic), but definitely one of the best run markets as a whole.

There is one thing I need to say about PES. And FIFA.

We all know there will be polemic about PES vs. FIFA, and thats good. I do not want to start fight about which is better, I'll be neutral. Now where to start... I'm gamer for more than 8 years, and I played both FIFA and PES. In last past years PES gained more players then FIFA, and I say that from experience and from speaking with others, I do not watch number of fans in Facebook. EA is much experienced in gaming industry then KONAMI, but they both have very rich history.

Until 2005 and release of PES 5, FIFA was much, much better, they were untouchable and so dominated. After that we can see a little "Bum!" in number of PES fans. What I always didn't like from EA is that their main goal is to be in top football simulations, regardless the quality of game and satisfaction of us - players/gamers. As Fili said, gaming industry is growing with rapid pace and we see massive leap in graphic improvement in both side. Now, let me compare these two games as now they are very even. Take a look at FIFA. What does it miss? In first view - nothing! But, after just few matches you can say that FIFA 2012 is almost the same as FIFA 2001. Many will now say: "dumass, what the f**k are you talking about?!". I'm talking about gameplay, not graphics. What improvement does this year FIFA have - ONLY FEW! Surely, there is so called Tactical Defending, Pro Passing and other stuffs that are mainly marketing-trick. Pro passing is bulls**t, and that Tactical Defending is rather funny then realistic and effective. For me FIFA did 1 step back, not forward. Impact Engine... well, it looks like EA gave us Beta version of it, cause with so many bugs there are tons of video mocking it, plus with it we now have robotic movements. Not to mention EA servers.

Now, lets get onto PES. Major problem in PES are animations! Seriously, who actually run like that? Well, if you take a closer look PES is much closer to realistic movements then FIFA. I like very natural and realistic flow of gameplay in PES. New manager mode could have been better, but compared with so hyped FIFA's manager mode this one is 2 steps forward. Changes in PES? Again - ONLY FEW! Off The Ball Player Movement is sometimes very frustrating, and it still needs improvement, but good thing is that KONAMI is making improvements based on players feedbacks. Take note EA.

When we talk about clubs, FIFA had always big advantage cause they had licensed leagues and bigger variety of them. On other hand. PES lacks it big time, with only 2 or 3 teams licensed from EPL and no Bundesliga, but they have Europa and Champions League. There are patches that can fix that, but I will hold only to default game. In FIFA you have slightly better control of player, control of shooting and passing. That lacks in PES. Basically, neither didn't made big step, they are "there somewhere", but we can expect from both to push it higher and be better... or maybe not... I can keep compare it, but it will take long.

GRAPHICS:

You decide. I like both.

PES or FIFA? For me, I have better fun with PES, but will always play (when I fix my PC) and give credit to both.
Cheers.
