Serie A Team Of The Week
9/13/2005 6:33:00 PM
Here’s a 3-4-3 formation consisting of Toni, Trezeguet and Shevchenko in attack for round 2 of Serie A.
De Sanctis: Kept Roma at bay as they had greater ball possession and were threatening at times. Aides his team to three points.
F. Cannavaro: Kept the Empoli offence at bay and aided Abbiati to have a tranquil afternoon. Not tested well as of yet, but a very capable defender.
Pessotto: Not a regular starter, but when he starts, he shows his valuable experience. Lost a step, however, he knows every trick in the book as at one time he was one of the best defenders of Serie A.
Natali: A young player who is maturing constantly. Played well against Roma and can be a future Azzurri regular.
Vieira: Scored a goal and is showing that he is adapting well to Serie A life and worthy of wearing the coveted Juve shirt. Arsenal wish they still had him as their year started off poorly.
Grosso: A good week playing for the Azzurri capped off by the end of the week with a great performance versus Inter. A current star and a possible future gem. If Palermo go far, it will be because of him and other youth players on the team.
Camoranesi: Impressive and consistent. Since Capello took over at the helm of Juventus, Camoranesi has improved immensely and has become one of the most consistent players the Bianconeri and Azzurri have.
Kaka: Scored a goal and gave the defence a headache. Is finally showing signs that he can score and shoot accurately towards the net. A future World Player of the Year candidate.
Trezeguet: Keeps on scoring and scored his 99th goal as a Juventino. 100 next week? We shall see.
Toni: Capped off a great week by scoring for the Viola. A superb player with a great future with the Azzurri and with the Viola if he wishes to stay, for the big three would love to acquire his services someday.
Shevchenko: Scored a great goal and is currently carrying the team until Vieri and Gilardino get settled into the Milan philosophy. Any signs of a fallout with the organization seem to be just rumours as he is playing rather well and Roman will have to wait a little while longer for him to wear the blue shirt.
