Ballack heading to Italy
Wednesday 15 February, 2006
Michael Ballack is on his way to Italy after Real Madrid and Manchester United backed out of bids for the German international.

Inter, Juventus and Fiorentina have all been linked with the 29-year-old midfielder, whose contract runs out with Bayern Munich in the summer.

Spanish giants Real Madrid have reportedly ruled out any further interest as they feel that Ballack’s demands are too high and they do not regard him as a Galactico.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have allegedly refused to offer a five-year contract to a player who will be 30 by the time next season starts.

An Italian switch now looks likely and his agent, Michael Becker, has promised a quick solution to the soap opera.

“Michael will announce his intentions very soon,” said the former Bayer Leverkusen star’s representative.

Serie B: Brescia bring in Zeman!
Sunday 5 March, 2006
In a shock twist this morning, fifth-placed Brescia sacked Coach Rolando Maran and brought in Zdenek Zeman.

It was a totally unexpected move, as the Rondinelle beat Pescara 3-0 yesterday afternoon for their third win in the last four games and are comfortably inside the promotion play-off places.

Brescia President Gino Corioni has always been a fan of Zeman and it seems that he had no time to lose once he finally managed to convince him to join this project.

Zeman had been out of contract since walking out on Lecce at the end of last season, when he took the Salentini to a creditable 11th place and a club record 66 goals scored – even though they conceded 73.

The former Roma and Lazio boss whose 4-3-3 system breeds entertaining football at all times had been linked with Parma and Palermo, but remained on the sidelines until this call from Brescia.

Meanwhile, there are also reports of another change of management in Serie B this weekend. It’s claimed that after Bologna’s 2-0 defeat at Vicenza, Coach Andrea Mandorlini will be fired and replaced by Renzo Ulivieri.

It would be a return to the bench for Ulivieri, who had started the season on the Rossoblu bench only to be given the boot in Week 14. The Stadio Dall’Ara outfit has earned one point in its last five Serie B games.

Chinaglia confirms Lazio bid
Saturday 25 March, 2006
Former Lazio star Giorgio Chinaglia has confirmed he is making a serious bid to take over the club from unpopular President Claudio Lotito.

“We have received no response to our request for a meeting, but even if Lotito refuses, my group will wait until an opportunity arises. Even if that means hanging on for two or three months, we won’t let go of this,” said Chinaglia.

The player who helped take the Biancocelesti to their first Scudetto in 1974 has been claiming for several months that he is leading a conglomerate of local businessman who wish to buy out the club.

Lotito, who has been the subject of a number of protests from the fans inside the Stadio Olimpico, in turn suggests that there is no concrete offer behind this rumour.

“I am convinced that I am in the right here,” continued ‘Long John’ Chinaglia. “We have done everything we had do, going to the Consob to prove our stability and bring in funds from overseas, so all we can do now is wait. This is not a bluff, as many of you might think. Do you think I’d leave my home in America to come here without the certainty that it’s a serious bid?”

Chinaglia has already held the post of President in 1983, although the club was relegated two years later, and assures he has a plan for the future.

“We have a list of names including players, directors and marketing strategists who can suit our Lazio. We aren’t leaving anything to chance. As for the money we’ll pour into the club coffers, I can tell you that not even my children’s children could manage to spend all of that sum.”

Don't trust that poor bastard. He promises the world and does sh1t. Even if he takes the club he'll bring them down to Serie B.
