Viana is just underestimated hes a decent #10 and plays consistently at valencia i would have preferred to see him start against belgium because he seems to be alot more consistent than Tiago

Oh and dont forget boa morte and Francis Obikwelu too haha :P

I like how during the game some of the players you mentioned the commentators said all the players are creative and skilled, but Simao is the only X factor where he is more of a team player and alway determined to win then use cretive skills.

I was at the stadium and it was yet another magical night! It seems like everytime me and two friends of mine go see the NT games live, we have great displays and results. The last time, it was the 7-1 against Russia! :)

You've all said everything it needed to be said, I haven't got much to add. It's really a joy to watch our team play like this and all the talent we have.

About Nuno Gomes, I have to disagree about something: although it is true that he misses too many chances (which is a major problem), it wasn't like he wasn't absent from the game at all. Being at the stadium, I could clearly see he was always making excellent runs and positining himself extremely well, creating pass lines and space for the other players. People fail to give this its deserved importance quite often and criticize Nuno too harshly...

Now, having said this, I also think Hugo Almeida should be the striker on the next gamer, because he has much more presence in the area, is physically stronger and could take better advantage of crosses coming from the wings. I totally disagree with shinji on him, I think that although he's still learning and needs to be more efficient, he's a good goalscorer, that has learned a lot since going to Germany, where, let's not forget, he plays for a top team and frequently scores!

There, he has the chance to face teams that are defensively very solid, with strong defenders with high tactical awareness. It's a great challenge for him and he can benefit tremendously from that! He may very well be the striker we've been waiting for in a long time if he keeps improving like he is. I really hope he stays in Germany to develop fully as a player... Returning to our league wouldn't be good for him at all, as unfortunate as this truth is.

I always thought he started at Estoril. But IMO he's nothing special. I know his cousin and I can assure you he's far more talented than Paulo. Too bad he didin't want to (risk to) become a pro.

Oh yeah, if you want a consistent player field Viana, he'll show you what consistency is all about.

And he's usually benched at Valência.

hes got better passing/vision Than Tiago... and hes also got a good left foot for free kicks..im not trying to call him a great player but he has potential hes only 23 after all

id like to see hugo from the start against serbia with moutinho and Petit also in the midfield

and ya he comes off the bench but he still plays consistently its not like vaz te being wasted at bolton

I used to like Viana when he was at Sporting. In fact he's one of the few portuguese players who can make 30-40 meters passes with impressive precision. But after he left he was never the same. He hardly ever plays at Valencia as mentioned, and he had many chances in the NT. He sucked in all of them. As far as I care, the only way for him to improve is going to another club where he can play regularly.

But Hugo Viana is NOT a consistent player. I do agree he has some nice passing and vision, but one thing he's defenitily not is consistent.

And don't tell me Tiago isn't consistent. It's true, he hasn't been as impressive for the NT as he is for Lyon or was for Benfica. He's having a bad season, but he's been consistent for the past seasons (for instance in scoring many goals per season, especially for a midfielder) unlike Viana.

Scolari prefered to play for the draw.. We could've gone for the win in the second half, they barely disturbed Ricardo then...

After a monumental game Quaresma should have started the match. Putting him in at 8 minutes from time only serves to take his confidence away. He must be thinking 'I dominate, score, assist and still am only good enough in this asshole's eyes to play the last 8 minutes'. He wasn't the same guy who played against Belgium.
Well, at least he rested way more than Simão! (H)

Scolari should have went for the kill in the 2nd half. I hope later on we won't miss the 2 points we gave up on yesterday... :\

Respect for Petit for playing that hard with an injury. That's a great lesson for the team. Especially to Ronaldo (who should have been subbed in the begining of the 2nd half), who in my opinion got a yellow card on purpose in order to not play the next game against Belgium.

Yeah Petit was a lion, he was the MoM for me. Well although Scolari could have been more audacious, i´m kinda please with the result. With a game in hand, we are second and we already went to Poland, Finland and Serbia. Serbia will be a more balanced game but i have no doubts that we will have little trouble with the rest of the opponents at home. I also think that Ronaldo got the card on purpose and i also think he was crap. Sometimes all the showboating is so annoying. He is way more selfish in our Nt than he is on United.

no kidding about Ronaldo yesterday.. right fter Serbia scored he was doing way too much showboating at times when we needed efficiancy. I don't usually get vocal watching tv but there were a couple times yesterday I yelled "just cross the f*cking ball!" when he was doing his excessive stepovers
