that doesn't mean the Loureiros didn't try to corrupt the refs though, it means they're not good enough at doing it or there are some people better at doing it.

unless this is all made up by the newspapers of course... if it is so, the guy that wrote is rather creative.

true, I believe they suck being honest or dishonest. but the way the news is written it makes it sound like Boavista actually got benefict from these negotioations, and that is not true.

I'm not claiming this is all made up, but I find it very unapopriate that these SPECULATIONS are published 2 days before Boavista - Benfica

that's not the point if they've got benefict or not. this is not honest to put the pressure on the referees like this. but the worse is if you think "they were recorded by the phone micros this time, but how many times did they do exactely the same before and after this?" :nape:

Leão também foi prejudicado pelas arbitragens

NOVAS REVELAÇÕES NO APITO DOURADO

So Johnny it was Benfica who was behind that, was it not ? :| :boohoo:

Criticize Vieira now.

Now, as you can see this makes it extremely difficult for a team that not Porto to win the championship. I find it amazing that we manage to win it on 04/05 against all adversity, even if the title was only decided on the last match.

I never criticised Vieira.

But I never thought that Sporting was in this...looks like nothing escapes...
Weird, I don't remember the game.

well it's not even been that bad in the last couple of seasons. Last season Porto was a fair champion.

The people that did this have gotten scared and now have to be less obvious even if there's the intent of doing it.

In the whole decade of the 90s though it was completely out of control. Absolutely no shame to call penalties in the dieing minutes of the game when Porto was not winning. Even if there are always mistakes for each side, and even if I acknowledge they were the best team around for the majority of the decade, I find it very very hard to believe that a racional Porto fan felt that it was just good luck that most of the ref mistakes went their way.

Here. A Benfiquista posting this. It says Vieira was talking to Valentim about choosing the ref for a Cup match in 03/04. He said, according to the article that he didn't want some refs because they would have connections to Porto and would harm Benfica in that Cup match.

And tbh, whatever the reasons, even if it's a cup match, it doesn't matter. For me Benfica should be punished as well if this all goes to justice. Maybe not so much as Porto, but in the same way Milan was.

Because c'mon, even if he just wanted a ref that would not purposly harm Benfica I don't think he should've called Valentim and try to choose a ref. That is also not legal.

I'm very dissapointed with the way Vieira aproached the situation. By doing that, he showed that he's not better than the others, I'm afraid.

If it's true I hope he's punished and leaves Benfica.

Just two things:

- the timing of this news is hilarious as the ref they talk of is going to ref tomorrow's game and LFV has been very active about this issue this week

- they talk about a freakin cup match. It's the FPF that picks the refs for the cup matches not the Liga. Valentao has nothing to do with this.

All in all I found this newspiece very strange

My point in posting that above is, it would be really of an hypocrite to accuse others and not one person of my club if he done something wrong too. Justice must prevail over stupid "clubites".

However, I agree with everything you said. In fact, if we use one of the basic principles in economics, that everyone acts racionally and tries to do what's best for himself, we can see that LFV would be a complete dumbass to repeatedly try to get involved in this process, because he would of, like he did, call attention to himself and get investigated by whoever is in charge of these investingations - that's the first thing they'd do, and I'm sure they did. Besides it was announced precisely yesterday Benfica will present a dossier to the police with alleged facts regarding this whole process. How stupid would that be?

Another thing, this is from a different newspaper that published the other news regarding Major Valentim. Why didn't they published the others then if they themselves supposedly had access to the developments in the process?

EDIT: Benfica has already reacted to that newspiece:
