Keepers: Ricardo (Sporting), Quim (Benfica) e Bruno Vale (E. Amadora)

Defenders: Paulo Ferreira (Chelsea), Miguel (Valencia), Ricardo Carvalho (Chelsea), Fernando Meira (Stuttgart), Caneira (Sporting), Ricardo Costa (FC Porto) e Nuno Valente (Everton)

Midfielders: Petit (Benfica), Costinha (free), Tiago (Lyon), Maniche (Chelsea), Hugo Viana (Valencia), Figo (Internazionale) e Deco (FC Barcelona)

Forwards: Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United), Simão (Benfica), Boa Morte (Fulham), Pauleta (Paris Saint-Germain), Nuno Gomes (Benfica) e Hélder Postiga (Saint-Etienne)

No real surprises, especially about the CB question. Ricardo Costa has been called up before. As was Bruno Vale, yet I'd rather see Paulo Santos in that list as a reward for his displays at Braga in the last couple of years.

I think Paulo Santos will be called instead of Bruno Vale and Ricardo Rocha/Tonel instead of Ricardo Costa. At least, I hope so. The rest is expected imo and Scolari will hardly change his mind, maybe Quaresma will be there too.

Record shouldn't be trusted anyways...

Oh and btw calling up Costinha (we know that will be almost certain) to the world cup who doesn't play in like 5 months is one of the most ridiculous decisions I've ever seen a national coach do.

I think that's pretty clear to anyone but Scolari, Johnny.

What annoys me is it will happen the same as in Euro, in the first match or agaisnt some difficult team Costinha will suck balls, same may happen with Maniche and then Scolari finally makes some changes on the team.

He should be putting the team interests in front of his "teimosia".

Mourinho says that Maniche is in his form peak. And it's Mourinho talking there...:P

And Maniche is one of the players I love the most to watch playing...frankly, I think in Euro 2004 he was our most important players, followed by Deco and C.Ronaldo.

very unfair for Ricardo Rocha and Tonel. Ricardo Costa is an accident waiting to happen.

I can't really be confident about the World Cup. I have little doubts we will crash out in the Last 16 with this sh*t squad, as we won't even be able to rest our best players because the last game of the group stage is the hardest and if we play Hugo Viana, etc we will definitely not win it.

they just picked the players Scumlari has been calling over and over, everybody knows for a long time now that's the probable squad that the big fat turd is going to take to the WC.

Johnny_Big: Mourinho also said Beto was a great player. He's a great manager (the greatest nowadays to be exact), don't get me wrong, but not everything he says is to be taken as a religious truth. Yet, he's talking about a player of his own.

Nevertheless, Maniche gets the nod in my books :)

Ricardo Costa? i don't think so

if it's true it's the stupidest decision ever of Scolari. and terrible unfair to other defenders like Rocha, Tonel or Nunes.

Heh why is everyone acting so surprised? This is bound to happen. Scolari´s criteria was always the same. Call the same players, over and over again, even if they don´t play. I´m sure he has already reassured the likes of Hugo Viana, Costinha and Postiga that there´s nothing to worry about. I feel sry for the players who worked very hard during the season to get noticed and they end up getting ignored. Mark my words, we will only get far in the World Cup, if our star players are in top form and inspired, it doesn´t really depend on Scolari.

Yeah, if that's the squad there's no surprises. Pretty much what we expected: not the best players possible, but the best possible players Scolari has seen in action in the past 4 years...
