Well, come on!!! Nobody here can deny what PDC made for Porto and his great achievements...
But any unbiased person can see that the Porto board (of which PDC is the main responsible) planned awfully this season and has the main responsability for what's happening. Nobody was expecting a repeat of the success with Mourinho (I think that's obvious), but I'm sure everyone still expected a strong Porto internally and decent in Europe.
The Porto board made a mistake when signing Del Neri and they also let the main players of Mourinho era (Deco, Ricardo Carvalho, Paulo Ferreira, Pedro Mendes) to sign loads and loads others that weren't as good. It went to an incredible extent to signing players, that weeks later, were already out of the club (Rossato, Paulo Assunção, etc). Lately, they've let Derlei and Carlos Alberto out for few money, through the back door, to sign more doubtful quality players. There have been more than 50 (!!!) transactions by Porto this last year! Porto looks like a players agency, with many player agents interest involved... How can a team mantain its stability, its "mística", this way? Porto were always known for their reasonable and serious transfer policy, with few players coming and going out... Can't any true Porto supporter, that's not blind or fanatic, see this clearly?
The balneário has no discipline, no guidance and the mood is bad... Sure that Fernandez has responsability in this and also (even more) in the way the team plays. But you simply can't dissociate this aspect with the disastrous (in my view) policy that Porto board has had lately.
I hope that at least one serious Porto supporter can undertand what I'm trying to say. I'm speaking not as a benfiquista, I'm not speaking with clubism, but with honesty and respect for Porto for the great club and insitution it is.
