Hachem was so unpopular here. The TV ratings dropped substantially when they found out he had won it...

He wasn't charismatic enough to get too many supporters. And I'm sorry to say but the "Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi" chants became a little too much to bear by the end. Every hand he won was followed by it...

Whats the best hand everyone has lost with?

Yesterday at the casino I was dealt pocket 5s. I called the blind and waited for the flop.

The flop comes, 5-2-2.

I bet the card hard, being the dealer. I raise by 30dollars, and 3 guys call me. Then a 8 comes out, no big deal. Again I bet aggressively.

2 guys fold, one guy calls.

Then a 9 comes, I go all in and so does he.

He shows pocket 9s.

Talk about getting burnt.

not the best hand i've lost on, but last game i played i went all in on a straight 7-J and lost to a flush

i was so certain i'd won because the guy is a loose screw

worst i lost was in a game with a bunch of friends.

playing heads up and the stacks were about the same, he had a little more than i did. this was a while ago but i remember i had 2 pair off the flop(i had pocket somethings)the turn i got the full house and really went for it, but i was called. the river comes and my hand doesnt change, i go all in, im called on it and i lost to a four of a kind.

but the best part of that game was that i was extremely close to going out, i lost on alot of big hands. i was extremely short stacked and decided i would go all in because i wouldn't be able to meet the next blind. i got 2/5 unsuited. i still go all in pre-flop. half the table calls. it wasn't much of a raise. the flop comes and i swear to god, 2/2/5. i jump up and leave the table not even caring about the rest of the outcome considering i could still be beaten. luckily i didnt get beaten, won the hand and went on the come 2nd. awesome moment though.

I love coming back from being short stacked to go onto win, great stuff.

Anyway, I think a lot of new players misread their hands. For example, id rather a 87 suited connector than an AQ. The AQ can be dominated I believe, and in a situation against a AK AA KK QQ its screwed. Look, pit 87 against all combinations of AA, KK, AK, AQ and AK suited, the AQ has a 32% chance to win as opposed to a 27% to win.

So as you can see, its not easy man, thats a very common mistake I used to make, and I prefer the 87 over an AQ, its a tough hand to play.

well... lol. last night at the casino after watching carlton get humiliated, i ehaded to the $60 no limit table... 3 hands in row, had KK, AA, AQ suited.
couldnt lay down my k's after the flop showed an ace, bad move, lost there, doubled back up with the AA's. ..

then with the AQ, raised to $10 pre flop, blinds being $1,$2. 2 callers.
flop comes A,J,7 ... i bet $20, guy next to me raises to all in... i had bout $100 in front of me...and he had well over that, so put me all in if i were to call. anyway, the other guy folded, and it was up to me, there was no flush draws, and i didnt put him on a straight draw as all in bet on straight draw would have been gutsy. so i had him on AJ, pocket 7's, or an Ace with a lower kicker.. anyway... i called... and we flipped, he showed AK :( .., turn comes K... ready to walk out... river turns a 10... ouch... :( talk bout lucky lol.

anyway, i have a screenshot of a hand played on online poker a while back..

i was dealt with pocket 10's, flop comes 10, K, Q... 10
was sitting there with around $150 on table, other 2 people in the pot had $100ish each. so anyway, bet $30, both called...
didnt know what to think.. turn comes 7, so i go all in, to my suprise both called...
anyway... river comes.. a 10.. boom. hit my quads..wondering what they both had... they show there cards...

1 guy had KK, man, how harsh, and the other AA.
talk about some big hands. and bad beats for the KK guy...

only played at the casino a few times in last few weeks, hard caus i live an hour away :( ...
only played on the $60 no limit tables as it seems very casual and friendly on them, havent been down on money yet.
hopefully ill be back next saturday night after going to a gig.

p.s ill show the screenshot once i can get www.simpload.com to work, as i doint ahve the pic saved on my comp.

They only started showing the World Poker Tour here recently, so we're still in season 1... Gus Hansen's got to be my fav (glory hunter, yeah...), the way he plays almost any hand is quite nice to see...

Never played "real life", as casinos are illegal here, and my friends prefer another game (Truco, not sure if you've ever heard of it, but it also involves bluffing and stuff like that, not to the same extent as poker though).

At yahoo I... well... I suck...

Watching actual professionals play is bad enough, watching fucking celebrities play is just too much to bear. I'd like to punch anyone that has ever played in a tournament with the word "Celebrity" or "Star" in the title.

Really? I don't even consider myself good, but I would say the last time I played substantially at yahoo I won 60% of my hands. That's before considering pre-flop folds. The people there are TERRIBLE, and on top of that you basically have an unlimited stack of free money. So the competition is poor to say the least. If you can't win at yahoo, you definitely need to keep trying. But that doesn't mean I look down upon anyone who loses at yahoo, I've played poker (although not Hold 'em) since I was about 5 years old and consider myself to be smart, so the odds and probabilities are always running through my head (but not to the extent they are for pros or guys who read the books, like Rob).

Heh, I'm one of the TERRIBLE people... really, I never even knew poker existed until two or three years ago (it isn't popular at all around here, and it does have a negative "vibe" about it). I only tried Yahoo twice though... and that's my experience with poker...

Actually, I have trouble remembering whether a full house beats a flush or not....

Got the shareware of poker superstars though... and I guess I'm learning a bit... not enough to play seriously, of course, but just to have some fun...

from what ive read most of youse only play on the internet...

I think ive played it once or twice on the internet..
I play it daily at uni when theres nothing to do. I must win/lose an average of 5->10 US dollars daily. There are more serious competitions but I dont wanna get more addicted..

I love the adrenaline rush when Ive got a good hand and everyones betting loads and I know Im gonna win (H) not to mention when ive got nothing and they all take my bluff as true.

its truly addictive game..

I go around, in Melbourne there are leagues.

I play almost 3 times a week in one of these, plus with mates about 2 times a week, and then I go to the casino once a week on a Friday night normally with mates, and then I play online.

Yea ... It is all I do (after I finish my studies ofcourse)

I'd say I am up a bit, but I find myself going to the casino less and less. Isn't as fun there anymore.

One thing I suggest any newcomers online should do is bonus hunt. I will write a thing on it tomorrow, but basically, poker websites offer to match your deposits dollar for dollar to lure new players to their site. Basically you can take advantage of this and make some $$$. Go around frmo site to site taking your money in and out and you can easily turn 50 dollars into say 400, 500dollars. (Ofcourse there are requirments to get this money)

Damn, and I was on cloud 9 for winning $13 in two tournaments :(

@ Rob: not to sound too rude but I'm actually still waiting for that comprehensive guide on bonus hunting you were planning to write. Too busy or should I still be waiting impatiently?
