been playing SnGs on Pokerstars lately, with more success. At first I deposited $20 just to get a feel for PStars, then another $50, lost all that. then I deposited $30 and I'm now sitting at over $300, thanks mostly to last night. played 2 SnGs, one 18-person $16 buyin, won it and cashed in $108. then I played a $27 buyin and absolutely dominated from start to finish, taking out 12 or 13 of the other 17 players myself and winning $180. currently playing another $27 trny, I'll let you know how that goes :)

Played a prize MTT in a free poker website called Triplejack. It was a qualifier for the September Laptop Tournament, 100 players and I ended up winning the ****. The winner of the main event can choose between the laptop and 550$, but the most f*cked up thing is you have to be a "Power player" (costs 6$ per month) on the site to win the laptop or 550$ and as I'm not a pp I can't win it. If I or some other non-pp wins it he can choose between a year of pp or 55$. F*cked up. :(

I finished 9th out of 18 in that tournament... was in 3rd until I made a bonehead play with 77 and went all-in with a Q85 flop, all clubs... guy already had the flush :(

I can understand the call after flop easily, but there's no way anyone in his senses would call that big a bet with 7 8 offsuit preflop. That's some f*cked up luck, man.

1) I would never ever call a 5BB all-in with AJs from any position except from the SB or the BB (and even then when no one has called before me). I would need to have a serious edge and chip advantage over the Villain to call this in any other position, which in this case you didn't have. I would call your move a minor blunder. Remember: someone doesn't go all-in for 5BB with utter crap. His range would be any pocket pair 99+, AK and maybe AQs. Your AJ is an underdog to all of these. This would've been a good call if you were short-handed, like a table of 4-6 players. On a full table this is just kamikaze.

2) There is no other sane explanation to Alkmaar's call than that he was willing to defend his BB to the extreme. There are many of these nut cases on every pokersite. Your job would be not to fall victim to these guys but to exploit them whenever you can. One way to have avoided him calling pre-flop would be by pushing your entire stack instead of calling off ~1/3 of your stack. Though again, folding AJ here would've been more profitable for you (your M is still ~10 so there's no need to do kinky stuff).

Update time:

- I'll be playing the WBCOOP (World Blogger Championship Of Online Poker) next Sunday on PokerStars

- I was on regional TV. They made a piece about the Flemish Poker Challenge winner at our final Poker4Charity qualifier. I played with the guy at a "televised tabled" with three more people (they showed me doing some chiptricks but focused on the other guy for the rest of the time) and they had some shots of the tourny itself (two great shots of me with the second one being brilliant). It's all in Dutch but for those interested: http://streamyou.be/atv/INZICHT/inzicht%2010 oktober 2007.wmv (I'm the guy who positions himself in his seat (first shot) and who points his finger at someone in slo-mo (second, brilliant shot)/all the chiptricks you see during the first few minutes are mine as I was the only one doing them at that TV table)

- In the course of the next few days I'll start coaching someone I played with during a cashgame. Goal is to get him deep at the Flemish Poker Challenge or the Belgian Championship next year.

- I qualified to represent Team Limburg for Poker4Charity (the tournament I finished 5th last year). Tournament will be on Nevember 18th @ Grand Casino, Brussels. Belgian/Dutch poker pros to be expected: Marc Naalden, Kristof De Smedt, Marcel Luske, Daniel Dodet. There will also be some Belgian celebrities and media attention

- I failed to qualify for the Belgian Championship during the super sat because I get irritated by people who push all in every hand after which I tilt and call them down with mediocre hands (BIG leak in my game). Finished 16th out of 49 players while I was in the top 5 the entire time

Started playing it this week. Doing some Pot Limit Hold'Em at Everest Poker, no money involved. Hopefully next time i decide to play a lil' tournament with my mates i dont get my arse handed on a plate.

The problem is the folks who play for no money at Everest are a bunch of psychos and they'll bet/pay their mothers to see the river. Yesterday i got a starting hand of aces, decided to go aggressive but not only they called me, they re-raised me, with **** on their hands! And the only card that would make me lose the hand on the river was the card that gave them a 2-3-4-5-6 straight. Frustrating.

Interesting read Taj. Only playing at rather low stakes I've never really taken position into account that much... I know the theory of it well, I've read what there is to know about it, but realise I never apply it.

Been trying to raise any two cards from time to time on the button or cut-off, it can work well.
