Well I'm on cloud 9 today - We owned Liverpool yesterday. The performance wasn't brilliant (Liverpool were pretty toothless) but it was exactly what was required. I have to admit I was pleased with DARREN FLETCHER's performance (yes I admit) Wayne still looks a bit off top form at the moment. The total polar opposite of Ryan Giggs, who terrified Liverpool.

Rio's goal was total class, beautiful control and unerring accuracy too, Scholes was impressive and joined the 500 club with style.

Though the point about Carrick was valid, he did look more aggressive than I've seen him, made a few good tackles too.

Also Peter Crouch and Steven Gerrard's respective assaults on United players weren't dealt with sufficiently - Gerrard should have got a yellow for his lunge on Scholes (I think) and Lurch should have walked for the challenge on Edwin.

Changing subject, I too am concerned about Guiseppe - I think he'd have played more at United than Newcastle so far, and I hope if we loan him out, it's to a more productive end in January.

Still, we're looking good - Top of UCL group and top of the league ... It's fun to be a red again! :)

Never underestimate your enemy, regardless of how weak or how inept they may be.
Shi*ty always raises their game against us so that they have something to brag about to anyone who cares. The biggest mistake we can make is to walk into the match and think that a 1-0 scoreline will do the trick. We must be greedy in every single match we play. Now, regarding the win over the bindippers, Evra and Vidic were absolute class and I think people need to realize that Carrick will not be like Keano. Carrick can make better passes and unleash the forwards.

****ty will not be able to score. After Shaun Goater, Horsefield and Andy Cole have left, they have no one that poses a serious threat.

Corradi and Samaras has not performed at all. I'm confident we can beat ****ty.

So am I :) That's why I'm more concerned about Bolton right now.
Diouf can be quite a handful, Kevin Nolan is also dangerous and Campo can be deadly off of headers from dead balls. But Jussi Jaaskelainen is hot right now and he could be the difference maker. Hopefully, Vidic can neutrize Campo during the set pieces, while the forwards use tic-tac-toe plays to set up some goals.

Does he ever pass the ball in a direction other than sideways or backwards , Carricks yet to win me over he seems to play in slow motion, hopefully we can swap him for Hargreaves in January.

Actually he has. He passes rgw ball towards the fowards quite a lot and spreads the play down the wings. He is always willing to make a difficult pass because he believes in his ability.

I too am doubting his ability and I think we can only make a sound judgement after a season. Lets give him some time, he hasn't been horrible. Carrick is a limited player in the sense that Hargreaves was supposed to come with him so Hargreaves could do the stopping and Carrick could do the passing. Kind of like the Scholes/Keane combo.

Finally, guess who wants to come back?

I doubt this would happen though, and if he does he'll be the biggest media story all over again : Former England Captain returns to Manchester, etc.

Though this is unlikely to happen, as a fan I'm wondering whether this would do good to the team or not. Is it worth it getting him back?

Pros:
====================================================
We need a good player on the right wing. Park is injured and if heaven forbid Cristiano does, then we're stuck with Fletcher or perhaps, O'****e again. Ole would be good as a temporary measure but he does lack pace. What if Giggsy gets injured? Richardson is hardly any good and if Cristiano moves towards the left we need someone on the right.

Loads of experience, could help the younger players during training.

Would be reasonably committed to United since this is his home team after all.

Could possibly bring it some cash via sponsorship deals, shirt sales etc. Given our financing sittuation, could be a good idea.

Cons:
===========================================
Media attention. Loads of it. What if he says he is not happy with a bench role again?

Age.

Disrupts current team dynamics. What does this say to the younger midfielders? This will hurt their chances in becoming a Manchester United regular.

Wages. If he demands for a massively ridiculous pay package again it would mess up our finances. And then he gets injured and hurts his matertarsal.

Will not be able to play in the Champions League.

What do you all think?

14+...with a possiblity of reachin 18 depending on performance n appearance...i dont think its gonna reach that price mark though...i think he's good but not worth that much...10mil tops for me...

as for becks, doubt it...the only way i see him wearin the united shirt would be in a testimonial like keane's...

Becks is completely passed it now, his career's in freefall , I think he'll either move to the MLS or J league or retire after this season, no chance of him coming back.

The thing I don't like is that neither Carrick nor Hargreaves presents a goal threat. If we go for Hargreaves, I don't want Carrick to be his partner, but at the same time, I want us to stick with the 4-4-2. I just don't think that Carrick can excel in a 4-4-2 without having holes in the midfield, unless he's put with an incredible box to box player who poses a scoring threat. I'd rather we had gone for a player more in the mold of Scholes, especially since we were so adamant on buying Hargreaves.

If we get Hargreaves I don't see there being room for Carrick , Scholes is our key player nearly all our attacks go through him and I don't see Carrick being good enough to take over that role.

What part of "Hargreaves is not for sale" is so hard to understand? As long as he mentions in every interview he's got no problem fulfilling his contract until 2010 nothing is gonna happen.

But at least the January transfer window will be highly entertaining again. I wonder what the English tabloids are gonna come up with this time. The stories with the Bodyguard and the supposed press conference were gold. (H)

I could see it happening easily. Scholes is an AM and so is Carrick. So far however Carrick has been used as a CM/DM, behind Scholes. And he hasn't done that bad there. But Carrick has just as good pass as Scholes and better tackling. If we swapped Scholes and Carrick positions, i think Carrick would be controling the game more, while Scholes would get killed in midfield trying to defend, afterall he is the worst tackler in the EPL. Hargreaves and Carrick could be scary as ****.

Carrick is not good enough to replace Scholes... at least not yet.

Too many of his killer passes got intercepted against Liverpool... .or completely miss the target...

Maybe later on when he build some understanding with the other players will we finally reap some benefit from him on a regularly basis.

I was more impressed with his defending rather than attacking against the 'pool to be honest.

what the...... did you see how many times carrick misplaced his passes? and how many times scholes completed his passes... carrick can never replace scholes. He lacks the creativity. But he does give 1 or 2 good passes out of the blue
