Crusad3r, do you really think Torres would be selected if he played at, let's say, Racing Santander intead of a Madrid team? The guy, after having scored twice this weekend has the same amount of goals than Diego Tristan, and Tristan is being heavily criticised.
About Aragones, Marca and As did the job for Villar. After Portugal Eurocup, everybody in Spain wanted Saez out, but it was Madrid media who created the Aragones campaign.

Im not a big Torres supporter, I think he is a good player, but just that. Not a superstar.

Anyway latelly Torres is doing good , without Bianchi xD

Dont compare Tristan to Torres, cause Tristan scored 4 penalties, Torres scored 2 penalties.

Also compare this:

Kezman, the star of Serbia = 5 goals
Torres, overrated player = 10 goals

Torres is over-rated but is no way a bad player, I agree on what Ricardo said.

btw is it me or does Atletico de Madrid seem to somehow ruin players? There are so many players who used to be really good before joinining Patetico, for example: Ibagaza, Galletti, Petrov, Kezman, Riera, Maxi Rodriguez, Musampa, etc...

You guys would really start Ronaldo (:/) :X

Perez is gone (Y)

with all that we've accomplished with him...of course.
Theres actually a team on the field at that point. Ronaldo brings the Brazilian spirit of playfullness, and joy on the field. Dont take it too seriously, dont act like its the end of the world, have fun- this is football...IT's how Ronaldinho,Robinho,Adriano plays... form is temporary. class is not.

I just asked because Raul has been out of form and injured for so long that you would start Villa and Torres.

Sevillista, I think you'll have to wait till the World Cup to know the number. I think the last time he wore #21 since the numbers he likes weren't available. He choose 21 because he's a Luis Enrique fan :$

You are a Madrid fan, right...?

You know that superstars are only in the entertainment, in the pitch you only need talented players...

I think that Torres is better than all of the Real Madrid attack...

Superstars + Football = No championship in 3 years...

Things are more complicated than that.

Torres is NOT a good striker. He can have a good game but in most games you can hardly tell he's on the field. People just wish he was good.

A team that spoonfeeds Ronaldo? Ah whatever thats good that he goes to WC, maybe a good performance will up his price.

Raul has been out of form? He has been injured for a while and is just getting back to playing.

About Torres, I agree with Sevillista. The only thing Torres has on his side is that he is pretty young and might change into a much better player but for now no, he is overrated.

GOD DAMN, sometimes I get tired of being so right. Reyes enters the game and scores in less than 10 minutes.

Cesc Fabregas needs to be a starter in the World Cup. Same with Villa. Morientes needs to go home.

i cant believe you guy disagreed about cesc Fabregas hes had a great game, same with Ramos. And Villa man unknown a year ago outside Spain, now he's the man in Spain and Valencia.

Another great game by the Spanish NT
? IMO we played great football tonight. After seeing the match, my dreamed lineup for the WC would be:

-----------------Iker-----------------
-Ramos---Puyol-------Pablo---Del Horno
----------Albelda/Senna---------------
-----------------Xavi/Cesc------------
--S.Garcia/Joaquin--Raul------Reyes----
----------------Villa-------------------

I guess you've seen Real Madrid too much. The game was slow, 20 players walking around, without too many chances and no brilliance. Only Villa did something remarkable and maybe Pablo and Ramos. Yet Ivory Coast, without doing anything spectacular scored 2 goals.

I forgot about Reyes. He always plays very well with the NT, much better than with Arsenal.

Spain did OK today

Dream Team:

Etoo = not in the world cup
Messi = lost to Croatia
Ronaldinho = Didnt played with Brazil

Stop talking about Barça man. NT are much different to clubs, in game style and all the stuff.

I don't know about defense but our midfield and attack has to look like this come the world cup:

---------Villa------Raul---------
Reyes--Xavi--Cesc--Jesus Navas

Jouaquin is a shadow of what he was at the 2002 World Cup. He seems scared. I know you guys won't agree with me on Navas but he's been the best player on the right side in the whole league. The scouts are watching him every game.

edit: And I conceed a spot for Raul. I don't like him but I sure as hell am not putting Torres in there and there really isn't anybody else stepping up.

From that line-up, I would change Cesc for Xabi Alonso, Raul for Senna or any other DM, anyone but Albelda, and Navas for Joaquin.

Navas has played some great games but he's too young and inconsistent, it would be a big risk. Joaquín is not having a good season but I would pick him ahead of Navas or Luis García.

I have a fear. Aragonés will bench one of the wingers (Reyes or Joaquín) to play Torres (I'm starting to hate him), like we've seen today.

Nah again I have to agree with Sevillista although I might not pick Navas to be the starter just yet. I think that Joaquin is too inconsistant this season and should not start. Although for now I think Navas is better than Joaquin.
