Sad to see the stuff that happened in Argentina... and with Boca out I see no team to stop Sao Paulo, with all respect to Chivas and River... :nape: please, don't let the bambis win... I don't care who wins, as long as it's not the bambis...
Hahaha, that's a good one...from now on I'll call them "bambis". (Y)

Excuse me, blame Boca crowd, not Argentina.

Plus after the Champions League it's evident that it isn't only a problem in latin america.

All I remember is that Argentina League almost stop by the violent action of their crowd

Well, Chivas will be without 6 starters in the Semis. Including the Goalkeeper Oswaldo, the other Goalkeeper Corona (that was brought in because the first GK will be with the NT, and the Second GK was injured, now we will be even with out the reinforcement :nape: ), Salcido (DF), Rodriguez (DF), Ramon Morales (MID), Omar Bravo (FW), and A. Medina (FW).

Plus, without Bautista (MID), that got a red in this game, and Lavolpe is thinking of maybe calling up R. Medina (MID), and Vela (FW), for the ongoing Concacaf WC qualifiers.

So pretty much, we're without even a "close to competetive" team for the Semis. :nape:

Confederations, and FIFA, gotta love them. (Y)
They always seem to find a way to screw teams in important tournaments.

heh! I'm guessing u misunderstood me? bambi = Sao Paulo

Sao Paulo are called bambis because their players (and supporters?) are considered gay... and deers are animals related to homosexuals in Brazil (don't ask me why...)

Then in a pre-match interview, Vampeta, then at Corinthians, said the bambis wouldn't win against them... which cause the Sao Paulo supporters to go mad, and since then everyone calls them bambis...

Yeah, Guadalajara got their nickname (Chivas) pretty much the same way, as an insult.

Hopefully the "Bambi" nick will stick, sounds pretty funny. :funny:

i really hope the Conmebol puts its pants on and suspends the stadium, Palermo and Benitez for at least a couple of matches. Boca deserves a big, big fine for this. But Grondona has too much influence there :nape:

I don't know about Palermo, but Benitez should get the big broom up his ass...Palermo could have overreacted against another player, but the head coach should not spit at a player, especially if he is supposed to represent good sportsmanship. TERRIBLE, please someone fine Benitez heavily...

Well, to my gratifying news, the president of Boca, Mauricio Macri has decided to fire Benitez from his position, so as of now, Boca remains w/out a coach...

Do you have the website or did you copy this from a newspaper? I've been searching all over the net but I couldn't find anything.

It is really a shame that things like this happen in this side of the world. Especially the coach's spit to Bautista and Palermo's hit. While watching it I heard a commentary that I'll post [though it does reflect my opinion, I don't want this to be considered as a generalization. By the way, I'm mexican, but I'm no Chivas fan.] "Argentinians don't know how to loose. They have won everything, they have some of the best players world will ever know, they are world champions and they are even able to beat Brazil. Maradona walked up the fields filling with pride and glory every single argentinian that watched him. But they don't know how to loose. When an overally 'lower' teams beat's 'em, just see what happened."

IMO, player's reaction is a shame, but the coach's reaction... that's deplorable, and shouldn't be allowed in any soccer field around the world.

Agree very strongly. (Y)

The spitting is what took this over the edge, El Bofo felt bad of what he did and you could tell when he was on the field...that's when Palermo took advantage of him KNOWING he was @ home, so the fans would start some kinda' sh*t against the player.

boca junior fans don't deserve their team, and that's saying alot from me towards that team.

Their coach= repulsive
Palermo=pussy ass, who still missed those " INfamous penalties " (H)

...teams actions to fire him, good

last night's events were a disgrace for football...

on tonight's games i got a question! santos only needs to win by 1 to get to semis, and they will probably end up doing it, since they're playing home, but without Robinho. I'm asking the lineups, please. :)

Check out www.infobae.com, that is where I found that. But to resume the article for you, they were going to have a meeting to see if Benitez was going to continue (he had a contract until the end of this year), but Macri took charge and fired him automatically. Macri also said that he will be banned from coaching the reserve leagues of Boca..... and the losing part, don't mistake yourself. Other Clubs in Argentina do know how to lose. River Plate, Racing Club, among others. It is just that Boca has become too "stuck up" and believes that they have no right to lose, I am really getting disgusted with them. But trust me, there are a lot of Argentinean teams that play with dignity and humility...

I heard that Vargas (the Colombian player) say that Bofo was talking **** all night and it really got in the nerve of all the players. When he waved the four fingers at the Boca Juniors crowd, that really got Palermo pissed off. Still, this does not excuse the fans for what they did. But I think that Bofo was really stupid in having done that and he got the "red card" deservingly. Palermo was stupid too, and reacted in a way that he shouldn't have especially if he knew it was going to inflame the crowd. But I cannot say anything more about Benitez, it showed that he was a classless coach, and I don't even feel sorry for him at all...

Yes, Bofo is and has always been a pain in the a$$... while I was watching the game with my mom... though Palermo and Benitez's attitude was deplorable, Bofo's was too, showing the four fingers to 'La Doce'. Seems Benitez firing is a reality, also found it on ESPN.

http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/story?id=336431

It says mainly that Boca's board accepted Benitez's dimissal, as it was the most polite way out of the situation. Furthermore, that if Benitez didn't present the letter, Macri would have fired him himself. Basically the same as the article posted by Andy.

About the commentary, I didn't intend to generalizate what I said. I bet other argentinian clubs [even though I don't know 'em very well, since I don't watch that much argentinian football] do know how to loose, and, as in many other countries, there are club that know how to and those that don't know how to, specially fans.

As Andy said, every football player, coach, etc, should have humility when wins may come and dignity when looses may come; which both will.

And Andy, I agree with you: a classless coach. What kind of a leader is he, that supossedly should guide the players 'by his example'?

Good, after he pulled off a "Wenger" during the press conference after the game, I'm glad that fucker is gone.

Looks like we'll get Paranaense in the semis, I hope we can keep it competitive and somehow make it to the final with a depleted team.

Boca is out of this years cup and is very possible that they will not play the 2007 edition.

The best four teams of the 2004/2005 season (including the champions) will play the 2007 cup. Boca is in the 12 position.

Good luck to Chivas, I don't think they can get past River or Sau Paulo.

River will win it this year. *hopes to quote himself* (C)
