What are your thoughts on Martins then? Will he do the business in the hustle and bustle of the premiership?

will be interesting to see

He is all speed, so he should do pretty well, since the english game is so much faster than in Italy.

I have never been impressed with his passing or his first touch, you may see too many attacks break down after he touches the ball, and then you could see him on the bench alot.

Other times, he has spark and the ability to dash past two or three players at once, create something out of nothing.

The game is more open in England as well...less organized defensivly than Serie A, this will work to his advantage.

Perfect replacement for Owens, definitely. His game might be even more suited for that league than the Serie A. He's got all the physical attributes in the world that you'd want from a player of his frame, but his general awareness like off-the-ball movement, passing, playing off of his partner all need serious work. And his finishing, of course..........if he could just get a coach who expertises in the technical side of the game to take him under his wings and work with him personally.....the sky would be the limit for his greatness.

Btw Yoss i saw your team´s match yesterday. It was trully an epical match, specially when it featured Heroic Zlatan and King Recoba. Your favourite jester Materazzi was sent off though.

hey, listen, Materazzi was sent off rather injustly. If you saw the match you can say how unjust it was. Its just that he got a particular name, and unlikily he will have to carry it to the rest of his days.

Crespo: "focused On Ourselves"

APPIANO GENTILE - Inter striker Hernan Crespo gave the following interview to SkyItalia at Angelo Moratti Sports Centre on Tuesday morning:

Crespo, how have you found the Inter environment to be after leaving the club in the summer of 2003?
"I have found a cordial and familiar environment, just as I remembered it. Certain things haven't changed, and it's nice to be here."

Many are saying Inter are the team to beat next season. Do you agree?
"It didn't go badly when I played for Inter in 2002. We finished second in the league behind Juve and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League without losing once. It was anything but a negative season. In terms of its potential the level of the squad this year has increased. So if we got good results with a less competitive side four years ago, why not think we can do great things this year?"

What are the mistakes you must not make when you are considered as favourites?
"We mustn't look at the other teams. It is important to find the right balance, then the results will come. At Chelsea last year we knew we were favourites and we just focused on ourselves and on doing well in the next match, and it went very well. Inter have to do the same thing: take one match at a time. We will talk about what happens until May, but you always draw conclusions at the end."

Are Inter's only rivals this season Roma and Milan?
"Right now, on 22 August, Inter are their own rivals, because there are a lot of us and many new arrivals. At the same time we have to work to find the right balance and convince ourselves that we are really strong. We know there are many of us, but everyone will always have their chance. And we must work hard to get on the right path to playing our best football. It is still too soon to see a brilliant Inter or see the results immediately. But they will come."

In relation to your decision to return to Italy, what do you think of Shevchenko's decision to leave Milan being influenced by his wife?
"As far as my decision is concerned - and I won't speak for Sheva who will have had his good reasons - I have always loved Italian football. Though I haven't closed the door in the face of the Premier League, because you never know in life, I proved myself right: after the first disappointing season at Chelsea I can say that I have left London as a winner and I am enormously pleased about this. But at Inter it's a different story now and I would like to stay here for a long time to come."

Shevchenko kissed his Chelsea shirt after just one competitive match for them. What do you think about this?
"I can't say what leads a player to do this. What I can say is that after a goal there are three or four seconds when you don't know what you're doing and you often do things you didn't think about before. As far as I'm concerned, the only shirt I have kissed besides that of my national team is the Parma shirt after a goal against Juventus when we were down to nine men. And I admit that it was very hard when I left Parma, even though I was going to a great team like Lazio. But kissing your shirt or not isn't a measure of devotion to the team you play for, or to the club or the fans. It's the world that's changing: you find it harder to stay at one team for a long time. There's more business to it now and sometimes decisions are made which go beyond the player's choice."

Marco Materazzi's sending-off in the friendly match against Sporting Lisbon was unjustified. Do you think referees are prejudiced against him?
"I think the most important thing is to talk about it as little as possible. In Italy, for example, too much was said without reason about Zidane's headbutt. They should have spoken about it only in France, to justify a certain situation. I think too much has been said, and Marco just had to think about enjoying the World Cup success - a unique thing in life, and he did. But sometimes strange situations come out of talking too much about something and the referees look at you in a certain way. However, I believe in the good faith of the referees. I don't believe they come on to the pitch to book him, at least I hope so for Italian football and Marco above all. But like I have already said, they talk about it too much."

Milan after looking for a striker. Is Ronaldo the right man?
"I'm no one's advisor and down the years Milan have proved they know how to do their job. They don't need my advice. I honestly believe that Milan will get through the ( Champions League qualifying) round and that they will buy someone. I don't know who, but they will buy someone."

Crespo scored loads at Parma and Lazio, but has scored a bit less in the last few years. Do you still feel you are a 25-goal-a-season striker?
"You have given me the numbers, now I will give you some more. This is my eleventh year in Europe, and my eighth in Italy. In these eight seasons I have scored 162 goals: an average of 20 a year. That's not bad going."

MORATTI: "A CONFIDENT INTER"

LISBON - Inter patron Massimo Moratti gave this interview to Italian television station ItaliaUno after Monday evening's friendly match between Inter and Sporting Lisbon at the Estadio Jose Alvalade:

What did you think of Inter's performance against Sporting?
"I was very pleased with the first half, the team gave me an excellent impression. There was perhaps that slight delay in front of goal, but the team's approach was good. Slightly less so in the second half, but the team still imposed its game despite changing all the players and despite being in numerical inferiority."

In spite of what he did at the World Cup, Marco Materazzi is still labelled by referees like in old times.
"I didn't think anything serious happened, but you always have to try and avoid situations that could penalise the team. Materazzi didn't do it on purpose, but it could teach him to be more careful. However, he is a very good player and he will avoid doing these things in the future."

What did you think of the strike partnership of Crespo and Ibrahimovic?
"I thought it was good. As I said before there was that slight delay and that half a thousandth of a second that stops you from reaching the ball. But they gave me a good impression, just like Adriano and Recoba moved well in the second half. Cruz didn't play so I can't say anything about him."

Is there anything else you liked in particular about the match?
"If I have to mention one aspect or a player, I rather liked Maicon and how he did in those two or three moves... But what I liked most of all was the team's personality. They seemed confident, with that strong personality you need to win."

What do you think of Juventus' decision to appeal to the TAR administrative tribunal?
"They have the right to, so if they want to do it they can. I don't want to get involved in these things. But it is the mentality that has to change a bit, even though Juventus have already changed all their managers."

You know what... we could make our current squad work if we used 3 strikers, then we wouldn't have to sell anyone and we could use all of them (rotation/injuries)
