He ain't gonna change everything overnight. I have lots of reasons for suspecting Klopp won't be a good fit for Liverpool, but I'm going to wait at least a few more games before starting to judge him!

You can't just snap your fingers and all of a sudden guys who have never pressed in their careers look like 2012 Dortmund.

I think he'll be fine. A point at WHL is actually a really good result. Liverpool and Spurs are very similar these days, they float just below Arsenal as English teams go.

I don't think this group of players are capable of looking like 2012 Dortmund. I am not sure how effective 2012 Dortmund would be in the Premier League anyway.

In THIS Premier League? They would have won it. They did the double in 2012 over Bayern and then after losing Kagawa they went to the CL Final the next season.

it's a big claim. dortmund only had bayern to compete back then, premiership is a different dimension. yeah manu and chelski suck big time but you'll never know what they'll be up to in two months time.

I'm still positive about klopp but he needs time to establish his training techniques first.

Team Captain
I think Klopp should not be judged this year because that team is pretty shit. Money has been poorly used on players. He should be given his chance after a proper transfer season.

That said, if he says things like that frequently in post match conferences (which I don't expect he will), the team will become complacent.

this is not a fm game. if they feel he's not ambitious enough, he'll get replaced.

having that said, I dont think liverpool's intentions are to win the BPL in short term neither

I hate this. Players don't watch their manager's press conference to see how he really feels. They spend hours upon hours together each week.

To be honest I doubt it. In the premier league there are so many teams capable of stinging counter attacks, and even the bottom half teams have players (some superstar players) who are capable of deadly breaks - I don't think that Klopp's pressing tactics could hold out week in week out against teams like this. The talent is much more evenly distributed. Also that Dortmund side was so reliant on certain players and they would almost certainly have had much greater periods of key player absence in the rougher, tougher, two domestic cups and no winter break EPL.

This is why I have reservations about Klopp successfully transferring his tactical approach to Liverpool. Not just does it not seem to suit their players, for the most part I don't think it suits the league. Of course, if he is a great manager he will come up with a fresh tactical approach to fit the new scenario, but we don't really have evidence of whether or not he is a 'great manager' yet. Not really.

Lewandowski
Reus-Kagawa-Gotze
Bender-Gundogan
Schmelzer-Hummels-Subotic-Pizczceck

All healthy, all at their peaks (except Lewandowski who got even better).

I have no idea if Klopp will succeed at Liverpool and I've said so several times in multiple places. But just because he's realistic about his team's chances in a game like 3 days after he took charge, doesn't mean shit. I hate that about sports fans, always trying to read some garbage into nothing.

Watching Klopp's interview today, yeah he says "I'm satisfied", but he also goes into great detail on what he wants. He says with more timing they can counter a lot better and counter press a lot better. He points out they should have had more interceptions if they were a little more in sync. Finally, he went on to say that the players played with great passion that he loved, but he wants them to cool down a little bit, pick their heads up with the ball, and see where the best ball should be played.

To me, it sounded very motivating towards the future, nothing at all like your characterization of his comments as "I'm very happy with a draw" with nothing else and no context.

ONLY had Bayern? 2012 Bayern were in the CL Final, and runners up to Dortmund in the domestic league and cup. The team added 1 player and won the treble the next season. No one ever says "Oh, Madrid isn't so good, all they have to compete with is Barcelona, just one team".

yeah ONLY had Bayern! it means they only have to concentrate to beat and be better than Bayern, they were already better than any Bundesliga side back then anyway.

in BPL Chelsea, Man Utd (although sucking lately) and Man City are all strong teams going for the title, yet you have teams like Arsenal, Tottenham to compete. I'm not even mentioning the troubles Southampton and Everton can create in their good days.
