The date of the Greek National Cup Final got changed from May 5th to May 10th. It is still going to be held in the Pankrition Stadion.

The reason quoted for the change of date is that the police cannot spare enough men to cover the venue on Saturday.

The stadium holds approximately 25,000 fans currently tickets have been provided for 10,000 AEK fans and 10,000 Olympiakos fans. This could lead to heavy clashes if not casualties. Therefore police presence is a necessity. :kader:

Question, is it PAOK Saloniki or Salonika? Im wondering, I always thought it was Saloniki, but in FM I noticed, as Im playing in the Greek league, they're called Salonika.

Both names are correct. There are three names of this region: Thessaloníki, Thessalonica and Salonica.

Well the official name is Thessalonike however in the English language it has been cut to Salonica for easier pronounciation.

The city is named after Alexander the Great's sister.

AEK still has a tight hold on the second place spot leading to the CL but the final match will be tough against SKODA Xanthi. AEK will have to earn the position. Panathinaikos is going to be competing in the UEFA cup from the beginning of the season for the first time in 6 years. :kader:

The Greek Football League 2006


Starting in the fall of 2006 EPAE the current organizing committee will cease to exist and will be replaced by the GSL.

This decision is pending delibaration by the Greek Parliament. :rockman:
