i think claude still played the best against arsenal on sunday though....that ****ass stopped quite a few arsenal attacks which could have been dangerous.

You could definately be right. I'll admit I dont know much outside of his scouting report, but he will push Bridge to be better, while still not pushing him off the roster, and he is good at set pieces. All in all, to get him for like half his buyout when the team supposedly didnt wanna sell was a fantastic move.

Jose seems to have that shrewd eye for talent this year, and that was like the one area he was lacking in last year

I didnt see the game, but being that Del Horno's forte is supposedly being an offensive leftback, ill take that as a good sign of things to come. By the way, Proxnet, did you happen to get my pm?

i did and what about fabregas and makelele's little sissy push around hahaha. Liverpool is going to be the premiers this season (my prediction) but it wont be thanks to lanky crouch. I just cant wait to see the Morientes and Cisse partnershp and hopefully the premierships best CM pairing, Gerrard and Alonso, will produce the goods and help us take home the premiership trophy. Well im just being biased but you never know.

i say the top three will be liverpool, manchester utd. and chelsea in no order.
of course chels would have the tip for it but the season has not started yet so........

i reealy hope that chelsea don't break the curse though cus that'll just be another thing for the gloryhunting fans to rejoice about that would get me pissed off, of course not saying that all chels fans are glory-hunting bastards.
but ontop of that i looked at the teams that did beat the curse in one way or another, they were Liverpool, Manchester, and Arsenal. most definitely the greatest clubs in english football history that are still on the fore-front of football today. and i don't rate chelsea at that level as an english club because in terms of winning trophys they simply are not, no doubt a great team though, i have huge respect for thier history.
that's just how i see it of course, don't take it too seriously. :boyaka:

First of all, I agree with your top three, but I dont really know what youre getting at. You're saying Chelsea wont win the league this season because they dont have the richness of history? If that mattered for anything, Spurs would finish above Chelsea every season. What matters about breaking the "curse", if there even is one (and I dont think a rule with 19 exceptions can be called a curse at all, personally) is the team on the field, their psycological preparedness, and the skill and ability of the manager in the dugout. Frankly, I like Chelsea's odds in all of those areas.

One other issue I have. Why in gods name to only ManYoo and Chelsea fans get called out for being glory hunters??? Its obvious to me and I'd think everyone else that there are millions of Liverpool and Arsenal glory hunters out there too, yet they never get called out. Arsenal win tons of trophies, Liverpool are historically sucessful, so these people have motives, yet you never hear a pip about them.

not saying that chelsea wont win it, just noting the differences in the teams, and that in fact on the contrary a teams history counts for absolutely nothing and i personally think that it is kinda sad where it's going to (not just for the trophy but in general)......

about the glory hunting thing.
well where i live, it's obvious to see that there was a sudden wave of chelsea convert-supporters, because not a single person could be found openly or otherwise supporting chelsea until two seasons ago.
i understand that you don't live in the carribean where the local football is not a great sight so people tend to support european teams with thier guts. and english teams more so because of the language and the fact that we see more of it as compared to italian and spanish.
and i also understand that i don't live in england so i can't see first hand people being grown up into the chelsea supporting lifestyle as soon as they were born.
but i simply talk about the chelsea glory-hunting fans more cus that's what is around me more, in extremely large and loud unbearable doses might i add, but no doubt there will be liverpool glory-hunters next year also (after the cl win)

but it's not only about the cl win and trophies, for me the chesea glory-hunters are all about the money, if tottenham were to be taken over by a billionair, the bastard glory-hunters would foresee this to be them bringing in a wealth of players etc. and the would finish really high no doubt in the prem.tghat

My prediction:

1. Chelsea: they only got stronger this year
2. Arsenal: With Cesc, Hleb and a fit Gilberto, they won't even notice that Vieira left
3. Liverpool: Solid off-season signings and Benitez will figure out how to win away games
4. Man Utd: Three Rs in front but nobody should trust a team with Silvestre in the back and an midfield as old as United's; Fergie will carry on his policy of "resting" players costing United unnecessary points
5. Everton: their failure to reach the CL will help them focus on the domestic league
6. Spurs: Jol leads a young, broad squad (+ Pitbull) into Europe
7. Boro: Yakubu + JFH = most lethal black striker force since Yorke/Cole
8. Bolton: The Greece-effect carries on
9. Blackburn: Hughes is a decent coach and with Bellamy up front and Pedersen in midfield, they'll do better than last year to say the least; oh yeah, Nelsen
10. Birmingham: Acquired a real gem with Pennant on the right
11. Villa: had a decent start of the season last year but Solano is another year older now
12. Charlton: Will do about the same as last year; Smertin and Spector are decent albeit temporary additions to the squad
13. Newcastle: Emre and Parker are nice, but that Souness is still :sb9:
14. City: stop signing has-been strikers.
15. West Ham: Zamora = Jesus.
16. Wigan: I just know that rich guy owns them :(
17. Sunderland: Will get lucky and avoid the drop
18. Fulham: Sad but van der Sar and Andy Cole will be hard to replace.
19. Portsmouth: Yakubu gone, Berger gone, Pompey gone.
20. WBA: No Rob, they'll relegate this year. Good riddance.

1. Man. United: Goals will win you games and when you have 3 top talents with the Rs plus the emergence of certain R.
2. Chelsea: Discontent and disharmony within the group and a couple of slip-ups
3. Arsenal: The departure of Vieira will cost them dearly. Still stronger than Liverpool and Newcastle
4. Tottenham: Davids will be an influence against the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool
5. Everton: A good enough squad to finish in the top 5
6. Liverpool: Players might be tired after a long season and constant chopping and changing
7. Bolton: Strong with two great targetmen is Borghetti and Davies
8. Birmingham: Pandiani and Pennant will be dangerous to any sides
9. Blackburn: Acquired the strikeforce that was missed last season
10. Newcastle: A decent improvement with Souness sacked
11. Charlton: Another end of the season rot will begin
12. Boro: Hangover after two european journeys
13. Fulham: Coleman can bring the best out of his players, pre-season is different than mid-season
14. WBA: An improvement with a good keeper in Kirkland
15. West Ham: Good keeper signings and Benayoun.
16. Wigan: The owner is the apprentice of Roman.
17. Aston Villa: Another bad season because of the strikers.
18. Manchester City: Old strikers won't have pace no more.
19. Portsmouth: Yakubu gone, Berger gone, Pompey gone.
20. Sunderland: McCarthy is a dead man.

Do you guys think Borgetti will start, and how well, or how big of an impact will he have on the Premiership?

Also, is Bent from Everton a regular starter or is he gonna have to fight for the striker spot?

EDIT: I hope the Spurs do well.

Fernandez

If Bolton can deliver dangerous set-pieces, I'm sure Borghetti will be the one benefitting. I'd be surprised if Bolton play him and Davies in the same lineup.

Help?

Is this Wenger's last season or second last?

BTW unless Fergie buys a midfielder and stops resting players, then United we stood and United we fall.

He's a bench player for the most part. And he's more of a foward/creative-type player than a striker.

My predictions:

1) Chelsea - Champions without a doubt but not as clear cut as last season.
2) Arsenal - Still the best football to watch in England. Total football.
3) Liverpool - Bad luck with injuries last year. Alonso will make the difference for them domestically plus they have a 20 goal a season player in Cisse
4) Manchester United - They've failed to strengthen the team significantly this summer.
5) Spurs - Santini ****ed them up in the early part of last season.
6) Bolton - Very experienced squad. Solid, tough to beat but not the best football to watch.
7) Middlesbrough - Yakubu is an excellent signing however Boro have a weakness at the back.
8) Everton - Missed out on big transfers. I can't seem them repeating last season success.
9) Newcastle United - Still in need of a forward, i really don't know what to expect this season.
10) Manchester City - Pearce wont take any ****, City will be a tough team to beat. The addition of Vassel will make the difference between upper and lower mid table.
11) Birmingham City - Forsell is back, enough said.
12) Blackburn Rovers - Get the best out of Bellamy and they'll achieve mid table safety easily.
13) Charlton - They'll do enough for safety.
14) Portsmouth - I fail to see where the goal are coming from now Yakubu has left
15) Aston Villa - Lack of activity in transfer market, small squad.
16) West Ham - I always like one team to stay up and i think West Ham have made some quality buys.
17) WBA - Another close escape
18) Fulham - Lost too many players and more could leave yet.
19) Sunderland - Mccarthy will give it a good go but they haven't the strength/depth or quality to stay up.
20) Wigan - Have been unable to attract a better quality of player to the club.

Pool will never finish 3rd.

I completely agree with what Andy Gray said on Sky Sports. Arsenal and Manchester United underestimated Chelsea, they certainly won't this time.
