Btw, why would anyone want Rooney to captain England? He's not even 4th choice captain at United. He has very limited experience in a squad that has people like Lampard, Gerrard, Ferdinand and more with more than a few games' worth of experience.

Also, Rooney is the main attacking outlet, don't give him other distractions, don't give him things to do which will keep him away from the box. Rooney is already known to wander away too much which Capello has tried to stop and restrict him to attacking duties.

Make Rooney captain and you'd be relying on Heskey to score all your goals.

If they want to keep Terry as a captain, they should try to change fans' mentality about him.

He hasn't shown any signs of not being a good England captain on the pitch. But being such a big public figure, people expect him to be a good example for others. This matter is getting quite complicated. Hull fans booing him is making things even worse.

IMO Terry should keep his Captaincy. His personal stuffs have nothing to do with football. But if the public don't agree with that, you cannot go against them as well.

If they sack Terry as captain, they're also setting a precedent. What happens when Lampard gets caught cheating on his taxes? When Gerrard gets into another bar-fight? Etc. Every captain will have to be sacked as soon as something bad happens.

I think he should make an emotional apology to his family and fans and ask England fans for a support.

But as Mandieta6 said Lampard, Gerrard, Beckham and Rooney had their own issues in the past as well.

I think it just happened in a wrong wrong time, few months before world cup.

We don't actually know the truth about what happened yet. So it's very premature for anyone to be having any opinions at all regarding the issue. A few hard facts would be a start. At the moment all there is are accusations, rumour and gossip. Thats sometimes enough for some people I guess.

As for apologising to the fans. WTF for? It's nobody's business in the first place, so fu<k the fans, and as I said earlier, opposition fans will boo an opposing player at the slightest excuse. This month it's JT and next month it'll be someone else. Lampard gets boo'd. So does Ashley Cole. So does Eduardo.

If you wind up a moron enough, they will boo whoever you tell them to boo. Morons are easily manipulated.

Jesus... how much attention. I couldn't give a stuff what he has or has not done in his personnel life, what the hell has that got to do with him the player and the ability as a captain?

And I think A lot of you have this wrong... the booing on match day etc has nothing to do with hating him for England player or wanting rid. There trying to put off Chelsea and its working.

As for the media there doing what they do best... selling papers.

so many chants have come from this... it bound to put him off.

William Gallas thinks John Terry is a right ****.

Make Crouch captain. Crouch is a good player, and unlike Terry, a decent person.

Why bother with idiots who always believe what they read.

The most disgusting thing about the media in England is that it promotes the herd or the mob mentality. As soon as something juicy pops up, the press follow it up with made-up nonsense just to cater these idiots.

This lot like seeing other people's failure's just so they can cover up their own inadequacies.

This media circus around JT is just ridiculous. He should have a private talk with Capello and that should be the end of it. Stripping him of the captaincy would be completely unnecessary.
Also, was Bridge actually going to make it to the WC? I rate A. Cole, Warnock and Baines a lot higher tbh.

Who has to decide the captain is the squad and not the medias or fans.

That pretty much sums it up for me. I think Capello will correctly keep him.

How do you know that he wasn't doing it behind his back though? She sounds like bad news anyway, putting it about with like half the squad lol.

I would actually go as far to argue that what Henry did to Ireland was worse than what JT has done in a footballing sense. Terry didn't do anything untoward on the pitch and yet Henry changed the course of a game unfairly. He won't be stripped of the captaincy so on the strength of that Terry certainly shouldn't be. As was mentioned the likes of Gerrard have had indiscretions off the pitch so if JT lost the armband then where would we draw the line?

I agree but Capello rates Bridge for some reason.

Last I checked, David Beckham is still an active footballer.

Worst thing Beckham ever did was miss a penalty.

Terry missed a tournament. An an opportunity to be a decent father.

Still, Crouch is the only answer. He's the only one that speaks English! Unless you want to include David James, I like David James. Smart lad.

I think this is clearly explained by this:

Did Gerrard sleep with one of his teammates' girlfriends?
Did Henry do anything to the France NT?

The point is that Terry betrayed a teammate. It's not my place to judge him, but clearly there's a difference between what Terry did and the examples you're trying to compare it to.

I'm pretty sure that if Bridge did the same to Terry, he'd be off the team in a heartbeat, but since it's one of England's key players, it will be forgiven by the coach and you fans.

The point I was making with Henry (not to drag all this up again) is that he acted inappropriately on the pitch, Terry acted inappropriately off the pitch, so in the game of football (not in the wider world) I would regard that as worse. There has been the suggestion that Bridge wasn't with this woman at the time (I don't remember reading whether or not they were together) so if they weren't together its a matter of Terry betraying his wife, not Bridge as such.

And that last little dig there, well I'm presuming from your location that you're an American so do tell me if say Landon Donovan or Tim Howard, important players for your NT, cheated with the wife of say a fairly average player like Marvell Wynne or another fringe player then what would you say? I doubt you'd want one of your key players off your team so you can't criticise us for wanted Terry to stay.

You all keep saying that Beckham had his problems too in the past... like what ? The media kept speculating about the relations David would have had with other women, but they never proved it and him and Victoria never been separated.

I believe Beckham should be a true example for all the England players. He is a great footballer and he is also a good father and husband.

What Henry did is not a matter of captaincy. What Terry did was (presumably) betraying a teammate, which is not what a team captain should do.

My last comment wasn't a dig and I would expect the same to happen on any NT, I was just making a point about the likely outcome.

ok, in that case I must have misinterpreted what you said. I was under the impression that you were suggesting we were the only ones that would let the player off, so to speak.

Terry and Capello are having talks today about it, so we'll know one way or the other soon.

This is complete and utter bull****. Morals is not the most important trait a captain should have. And these are still allegations, not true facts. **** the FA, and Capello.
