Pehaps he saw that match against Bayern where he was half injured and failed to deliver.

But yeah Rooney was in incredible form in 09/10 season after Ronaldo left, until that Bayern game. :( Damn i still feel bad about the second leg at Old Trafford.

Well, looking at this fixture history this year, he hasn't actually played well against good teams. He managed a goal in a 4-1 defeat to City, scored and assisted against a woeful Bayer, scored twice against Spurs, one assist against Arsenal and that's it. He has decents stats, but they've been padded against poor teams. That won't do in the WC. I think he should start for England though, he's still one of, if not the, best player in the squad.

This year, this Man Utd team is possessed by demon. You can't judge him by his performances this season because he can't play with a midtable manager's tactics. Who has played well against the bigger teams this season?

True but he has done OK with England. He can tweek tactics better than Moyes. He has won more than 0 trophies in his managerial career and has brought Fulham to the Europa final.

One of three former world champions is going to go out at the group stage in Group D at the 2014 World Cup. And it's not Uruguay. We'll have to wait and see what Prandeli comes up with, but Hodgson's put a lot of faith in youth with this squad. (obviously depending on who starts)
