After Raheem Sterling is done procreating, there will probably be hundreds of Raheem Sterlings. But my bad. Sturridge as striker, not Sterling.

Is there any reason Rooney deserves to play in another world cup? He's been shit every attempt thus far

Rooney hasn't been world class since he messed up his ankle in Munich in 2010. Sturridge is a better player, not to mention a more disciplined player who will work within the system, not drift aimlessly. He's also not prone to homicidal urges.

Sturridge's overall contribution is nothing compared to Rooney's. He just scores and assists. Does nothing in defense or midfield. Overall Rooneh is better. If he didn't have to drop back as often because of midfield deficiencies, he'd be scoring and assisting a lot more.

Rooney needs someone who stays up the pitch and is a good goal scorer beside him (like van Persie at Utd under SAF). Since he has a ridiculous work rate, and drops back into the midfield a lot. I don't see anyone else than Sturridge being that guy for England.

Rooney is not the player he once was. He contributes in midfield and defense often to the detriment of his responsibilities in attack.

I don't know about his performances for England, i rarely watch their matches, if at all. But you're right about that he isn't like he once was, but you have to take the fact into consideration that the state of Manutd's midfield is bad, so he has to drop back a lot. Him playing as an only striker doesn't really work. You could see that in the match against City, while the likes of Fellaini or Carrick didn't really even bother to press the opponents, Rooney had to drop back to the opponents' half quite a few times to win the ball back again.

I think he would make a great midfielder once he's a bit older.

Rooney ruins the tactical flow of the entire team. He also disrupts players marking in defence often leaving holes by his brainless attempts at chasing the ball

If he is gonna play just behind Sturridge (potentially the main striker) then it doesn't matter. You can make Sturridge the main striker and Rooney just behind to feed in assists. No one is better than him at creativity in the AMF or SS position. Certainly not Barkley at the moment.

This is just absolute bullshit. England and Man Utd are nothing without him.

The reason why he hasn't looked as good this season is because the team as a whole has been doing badly in the Moyes regime. You could say that every single player has declined in performance bar De Gea and Januzaj.

Nady, he has looked poor since he got rushed back from that injury in 2010. You see him with red colored glasses. I would not want him on my team even as a free transfer. What Mus said is totally correct.

Hmm as a Manutd fan i somewhat agree with you. But i believe with a decent midfield he'd do well again, i think. He scored a lot of goals in 2010 because the team was actually quite good. Players like Valencia etc were on form.

Now he has to drop back into midfield to get the ball, because our midfielders are slow/shite and lack passion. You could say that we had the same players in 2010, but we were way better back then.

Oh and as Nady said, he has been one of our top performers this season, along with de Gea.

Maybe he is not as good as 2010 but saying he has been "poor" since 2010 is ridiculous.

He scored 27 goals in 34 games in 2011-2012. That is after 2010.

He has scored less in the last 2 years but the reason for that is purely because he has changed position. He has been playing much deeper with RvP racking all the goals. He now makes more assists. What do you expect from a player who is for the most part playing as an AMF? He has 13 goals and 12 assists in 26 games (a goal or assist each game) this season. What else do you expect from an AMF?
