- run for election in 2009
- successfully win in 2009...this would be heavily dependent on how Real fared during the 2008-2009 campaign, and judging by the previous 2 seasons this outcome(Perez wining and replacing the guy in the hot seat for back-to-back championship wining seasons, COMBINED with Ronaldinho's departure from arguably the main title challenger-Barca) did NOT look very likely.

THAT's the reason why he kept him......there was NO guarantee that ManU would win the EPL or CL again AND, of more relevance, that CR7 would replicate his 42 goal campaign. Infact, if his goal count was going to change, it could only have gotten worse thereby reducing his transfer value!
