No Cecs, Puyol and Pique? This is gonna be interesting. I think Barca will be hurt more without their defenders though.

I think Cesc absence will afect more Arsenal than Puyol and Pique absences for us. He is definitely their heart, he controls their whole game. We have Milito and Marquez (?!?! :(:() options left for the central defence. Let's not forget our defence in Roma against United.

Great display from Barça (not the world's best team for no reason). Sweet comeback (with a lucky penalty) but the injuries no so much. Cesc = almost legend.

P.S. Henry's reception:33vff3o:

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long
Yellow Card
Oh dear, Arsenal! Oh dear! Just like 2004 (loss to Man United in FA Cup semi and Chelsea in CL quarterfinal), in the span of less than a week (1-1 draw and 2-2 HOME draw), your shot at multiple trophies has gone out the window.

cesc + arshavin and gallas? they will miss the second leg i read.

Just like Reyes, Fabregas is overrated. It's Arshavin and Gallas who will really be missed.

No he is not overrated. Just that most of people don't see his importance on the pitch. Just like Xavi 3-4 years ago (before EURO). He was so underrated. Even Barça fans in this forum (I can't remember which one) said that Xavi doesn't do anything special in Barcelona's play. Now most of them think that Xavi is the engine of this fantastic team.

You can see this from his teammates confidence in him.Anytime you don't have any solution, give the ball to Xavi... He'll know what to do with it. You just can't take away the ball from him and last nght he made a great match too... I made this discussion about Xavi because I think Fabregas has the potential (c'mon he's only 22) to be the best midfielder in the world. Now with Iniesta and Xavi I think he is top 5 midfielders of the world.

Fabregas is the lone reason Arsenal are still within a chance at the title. He wins matches by himself (one time he came in for 20 minutes, brought 2 goals, and was called back to the bench). Definitely the most valuable individual in the Premier League this season to one's team.

Bobby

The Legend
Gallas is out for the season, but I think Sol can handle it. I worry about his fitness though.

Cesc is the heart and soul of the team though. We're dead in the water without him.

Don't forget van Persie has been out all year, so we're already low in terms of squad numbers.

My worry is that if this keeps up we'll field an actual baby on the right hand side against Man City.

A baby would be awesome but we are more likely to field a fetus.
RVP is rumoured to be back in full trainingtwo weeks but after seeing 3 players KO'ed yesterday after a 'premature' return from injury, I would not mind not seeing him till next season.

Cesc's heart yesterday was incredible yesterday, he rallied the team after he got suspended for the 2nd leg and scored with a broken leg (H)!

The Von Trapps
well he did say "Arsenal shirt ... this season" ... if he was to move to Barcelona, that would (at the earliest) be next season ... so if he played again this season, it would be in an Arsenal shirt ... or as Bobby pointed out, the other option for this season would be a Spain shirt (assuming that the World Cup is considered part of a season) ...

anyway, I hope for his sake and Spain's sake that he recovers this season, and gets some competitive match practice in before the pre-tournament camp in South Africa ... he's a super high quality back-up to Spain's usual starting XI, and they would be a lesser squad without him ...

It would be sexy if cesc has played his last match in Arsenal shirt against his beloved Barça.

Since when did he get called 'Franny'?

He definitely got caught, Puyol should not have been sent off though.

This blog is not even Catalan, its Fàbregas not Fabregas. And we all were very disapointed when the ref. showed the yellow card to cesc, at least in my family.

Come on, if anyone makes a foul on a goalscoring chance, it is an automatic red card no matter how bad the challenge is.

Not necessarily that cut and dry... I thought it was a bit unfair how fletcher was red carded and missed the final last year in a similar occurence against fabregas by putting his body into him as he was about to shoot on goal

I'm sure every ManU fan felt exactly how we feel about puyol sending off, it was a bit unfair

Nice last gasp win. Now you guys are just three points out from Chelsea should they stumble at the end of the season.

Another nice win in dramatic fashion today. I've got to say, even if we don't win anything this year, which is looking more and more likely with each devastating injury, I'll still be somewhat happy with our season. This team has more than once picked themselves up when they looked down and out and given us fans something to cheer about. They could have easily folded and let Barca thrash them, but I give them a lot of credit for coming back against a great team, that in itself is something I'll fondly remember from this season.
