Sorry I forgot I made that post about injuries.

Yes its the total number of injuries for each team. As nady pointed out it doesn't reflect time scale though. Some maybe a week some 6 months. What it does illustrate though is arsenal have had a lot of stop start.

Just thought I'd let you guys know - there was an interview on talksport today with Arshavin's agent. He said that the comments made about Barcelona were taken out of context and that Arshavin is "happy where he is"

Apparently some Arsenal fans had taken the bait and started slagging him off on t'internet.

^^Traces of Adebayor ? I really ignore most things from Arshavin with the exception of the genius that is his website...moving on to more important things our favorite trophy, the Emirates Cup has been announced.

Following the huge success of the Emirates Cup for the past three pre-seasons, Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce the details for the Emirates Cup 2010.

Taking place over the weekend of Saturday 31st July and Sunday 1st August, joining the Gunners at Emirates Stadium for this summer's exciting pre-season tournament will be three of Europe's leading football clubs.

Emirates Cup 2010 will see Arsenal joined by Italian powerhouse AC Milan, Scottish giants Celtic and leading French club Lyon, who are all sure to make this a hugely exciting curtain-raiser to the 2010/2011 season.

Similarly to the previous Emirates Cup tournaments, two matches will be played on both Saturday and Sunday, with one ticket giving fans access to both matches on a particular day. The kick-off times on both days are 2pm and 4.20pm, with tickets priced from only £25 for adults and £15 for concessions.

The tournament kicks-off at 2pm on Saturday 31st July with Celtic, who are sure to be followed by thousands of their loyal fans, taking on Lyon. This is followed at 4.20pm with hosts and current Emirates Cup holders Arsenal playing AC Milan.

Sunday's fixtures also start at 2pm, when AC Milan take on Lyon, with Arsenal and Celtic bringing the competition to an exciting climax kicking off the final match at 4.20pm on Sunday afternoon.

Teams will be awarded 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. The competition also rewards attacking play, with teams also being awarded 1 point for each goal they score. In addition, shots on target will also be counted and will be used to decide the tournament winners if teams are level on points and goal difference.

The winners will be presented with the Emirates Cup trophy after the second match on Sunday 1st August.

The Club is pleased to announce that Arsenal members will receive exclusive first rights on purchasing tickets for this high-profile tournament, which will offer many Gunners supporters the first opportunity to see Arsenal play ahead of the 2010/2011 season.

Arsenal Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis said: "We're delighted and proud to once again be welcoming three of Europe's most high-profile teams to Emirates Stadium for an exciting weekend of football.

"The Emirates Cup has been hugely successful since we staged the inaugural tournament back in 2007 and we're again looking forward to staging this weekend of football, which is now recognised as one of the world's most prestigious pre-season tournaments.

"We have three big teams coming this year in AC Milan, Celtic and Lyon, who all have huge international followings and rich histories. I'm sure all supporters are looking forward to the weekend, which not only offers the opportunity to watch two top quality matches each day, but of course, also provides the teams with a high level of preparation ahead of the forthcoming season."

Maurice Flanagan, Executive Vice Chairman, Emirates Airline & Group added: "Emirates is very excited about this year's Emirates Cup in what looks set to be a very strong line-up indeed.

The Emirates Cup is an integral part of our long-term partnership with Arsenal Football Club and we look forward to seeing all four teams in action over what will certainly be an entertaining weekend of football, featuring two of our sponsored teams in Arsenal and AC Milan."

Day admission tickets for Emirates Cup 2010, which give access to both matches in a day are available from £25 for adults and £15 for concessions.

guess your tournament is slowly trying to take over from Ajax's Amsterdam Tournament as the most glamorous pre-season tournament ... there used to be an "Opel Masters Cup" in the mid-to-late 90s that featured Bayern v Milan v PSG -- the three big teams Opel sponsored at the time -- squaring off against each other ... I thought the Emirates Cup presented a perfect opportunity for Emirates to put on a similar exhibition tournament of "their" teams at "their" stadium ... but unfortunately it looks like the plan may just be to have Milan, HSV, and PSG (and maybe Olympiakos) take a turn each, season by season, to play Arsenal at the Emirates in the Emirates ...

^^
Hopefully when the Emirates deal runs out we keep the tournament and give it different name (i.e. Ashburton Cup, Arsenal Cup etc)...I like the tournament.

Moving on to the dooming/gray clouded business...we suck! (or more specifically a great proportion of our team does).

I've gone on and on about how poor Almunia is, but Fabianski is worse, Blackburn did him in...hard! To put in the words of someone's facebook status "...the schoolboy with too much pocket lunch money let loose in a schoolyard of bullies."...

These Spanish are taking away all stars from England lol. If he goes, I bet Nasri will take Cesc's place in the centre. Rosicky can do a good job there as well.

^Like Tomas but I really feel like he's regressed as a player, Nasri is really too inconsistent IMO to replace Cesc. I know I'm stating the obvious but this really is a huge loss. Can't really blame him, gave us seven years of loyalty and was our captain. Single handedly carried our "title bid" this season, wish him the best of luck pity he could only win an FA Cup during his stay...

Yea things would not be looking too good for this club if Fabregas were to go. Hopefully we'd get someone like Gorcuff in to replace him, but still...

Maybe I'm a just a little pissed off about this whole Fabregas situation but frankly I've been thinking about a sizable list of players who I strongly think should leave, and even more who I'd categorize as, well, I just wouldn't really mind if they left because I'm unsure about their quality to help win trophies.
Players I think really should go:
Silvestre, Eduardo, Rosicky, Merida, Traore, Senderos.

Players that I really wouldn't mind if they left:
Almunia/Fabianski (we need Joe Hart), Bendtner, and even Arshavin.

I put Arshavin there because this past season he just wasn't nearly efficient enough. When he plays well he's great and I'm a big fan of his, but he was too often wasteful in front of goal, and when he doesn't play well, which wasn't incredibly rare last season, it's almost like playing with ten men. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a decent player, but I think he's overrated and we'd probably get a decent amount of money if he left.

I'm not urging the Arsenal board to go out and sell all the players I've just named, we certainly shouldn't because of the depth we lack, I'm just pointing out the fairly large number of, for lack of a better word "fringe" players we have who I don't think help us enough to win trophies.

^It's looks like someone has been doing peeking on our webisite ;).

Anyways here is the spiel...

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that Moroccan international striker Marouane Chamakh has joined the Gunners on a long-term contract.

Chamakh (26), who joins Arsenal from French side Bordeaux, made a total of 293 appearances, scoring 79 goals during his eight years with Les Girondins.

In the 2008/09 league campaign, Chamakh scored 14 goals, helping Bordeaux win the French League title, thus ending Lyon’s seven-year domination of Ligue 1. The Moroccan striker’s fine form continued last season, playing an integral role in helping Bordeaux reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they finished above both Bayern Munich and Juventus in the Group Stages.

Chamakh can be an excellent backup for Van Persie... With 3 natural strikers in Van Persie, Bendtner and Chamakh you have the option of playing 4-4-2. You have Vela and Eduardo as SS as well. I have a feeling Wenger has 4-4-2 in mind.
